You lost me at "calf testicle."

Rocky Mountain Oysters....yuck!!

So far so good for us here in T & C. The house is everything we could have asked for and then some. Great weather..and some surprisingly good restaurants!

Back from dress rehearsal for Maggie's dance studio...Amy, the owner, was very well organized breaking the dances into 1 1/2 hr rehearsal segments. Only downfall, Maggie was in the 1, 3, and 4th block out of 5, for her 3 classes at a theatre 30 minutes away- so, no commute on the downtime.

John took over 1300 pictures of the various classes that the studio offers. so, we were there for all seven hours and 30 minutes of rehearsal. It is so amazing to both of us who are, by now, used to theatre work - pitching in and helping where needed - on the lack of response from the parents when asked for class supervisors back stage, even when she offers a discount on registration fees for the following year. Which I didn't take advantage of - I registered first and then offered to be being "stage mom" for two classes without a volunteer mom, plus stage crew hauling a few light set pieces for two of the dances. Her poor husband gets worked to death at recital time as her stage crew.

Nine hours later, we're back home. more like 7 1/2 hrs of rehearsal and 1/2 hr travel and 1 hr of mexican food with a margarita.

Ooooooo.......D2x gooooddddd...........must go back load smugmug.....lots pictures....brain hurt.....PC baaaaaaddd.....

Sounds like both you and John are getting a workout!! Funny about that helping out thing. Some folks are content to let other people do all the work. I think the kids recognize and appreciate the parents that help though!!

How's the new camera working out??

Had to shake my head at the "me first" attitude of some of the parents on performance day...Auditorium seats over 1500 people, and the doors opened at 1:30, for a 2:00 performance...They were lining up shortly after noon upset that they couldn't get in to reserve seats... :sad2:

I much prefer watching from the wings, don't have to be involved in that mess...

If you are talking about the new one on Dunlawton, I was there two weeks ago. Got a Port while there. Nice shop, but I was not impressed with the owner. She was reading the labels on the wine to the customers to explain what a wine was like. :confused3

They ARE a franchise... so I guess anyone with the $200,000 to invest can become an instant 'expert'...

I still like the Elusive Grape 100% better... but its nice to have something a little closer to home in case of a 'wine emergency'.

We're BACK toooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took a last minute trip to WDW Saturday morning - heck it was raining here...

Had a great time, last weekend before blackout.

Stayed at the Music in a preimere room (last one left) but it was a suite - imagine!!!!!

Last weekend of Flower and Garden.

LAter......

Welcome Back SCUBAs......

If they are looking for something VERY close to Sea World... Residence Inn is right around the corner... I've stayed there several times for meetings, and I always end up with a 2-bedroom suite with a full kitchen... it sleeps 6.

Returning and catching up.....Thanks for this recommendation as well.

And a top with KikiKAren!!!!

PDFG.

John's on my hit list - albeit a bit of a good way - We've got southwest credits on tap - so, I am in the process of dreaming of a vacation where Southwest will fly. Looking at places I've always wanted to visit, but haven't yet. Today, I looked at Vegas (w/o kids) St. Simons, Island, GA (w/kids). Then, my dear husband plants the seed, we could do WDW... Jump on, and discover free dining in September...sigh... Do I book WDW (his last visit - our honeymoon 1989 - my last visit 2004...) knowing we will see DL in June 2008 or broaden our horizons with a new experience??? sigh, decisions decisions...

Gosh, decisions, decisions, decisions....

So, how many days is the vacation?

Hi guys, we made it to Tucson okay and have finished day 2 of the swim meet. Ashley has had an okay meet. SHe has swam 5 events. She placed 6th in 50 back, 5th in 200 back, 4th in 200 IM, 4th in 50 fly and 2 in 100 breast. She hasn't had the times she has really wanted, but those will come. She probably will only swim 2 events tomorrow, then she is off to the swim camp for the rest of the week. That is when my vacation starts.

Sorry I missed wishing her well for meets......It seems like she is always in the water.....

Your wife probably should not see this post (or maybee she should:rolleyes1 ) but ---it is fantastic. I love the D200 but it is another world with the D2x. Focus is spot on and fast - you don't even think about it. I found for dance the HSC high speed crop mode was very useful. I could turn it on when I was zooming in for individual shots and then turn it off when I was doing more company stuff. This way I could just leave the 70-200 on and not have to move a lot. The shutter lag is noticably shorter on the D2x and the D200 was quick to begin with.

As you know dance is dark and fast moving -- shot mostly at 800 with autoiso on to try to get 1/125s. A little noise in the pictures, but won't be bad at 8x10 and under. Shot on M size which is almost an 8x10 at 300dpi.

Oops...I did it again. I managed to delete all the pics I took on the Pentax (water camera)....and alot of the house pics too. Luckily, we're still here for a while, so I can take more.

Anyway...here's a few....1st is the view from our balcony showing our path to the ocean.
The 2nd one is a view from the balcony, just to the left. Off the point, you can make out (maybe) a buoy that marks a really old, awesome shipwreck...obviously very shallow.
The last one I took when I was in the pool. showing the gazebo.
