My friend's parents lost their house in the Villages area of Florida....during the tornado. She is very grateful that they came out untouched, and I'm happy for her.

Not sure if any of you can offer suggestion but thought I'd ask. Bruce & I are celebrating our 10th anniv. in Oct. Any suggestions for a long weekend getaway? I've been looking at some places within driving distance of ATL. I've also thought of a quick cruise. Thought maybe some of you in GA, FL or SC would have some suggestions.

I have thought of both of those. Bruce & I actually spent our 1st anniversary at Disney's HHI resort. That was nice.

How can I resist - a quick 3 or 4 day cruise on the Wonder....or Food and Wine at WDW...

St. Augustine is Great.

How about Ameila Island?

Then there is St. Simons Island.

But anywhere will be special....

Angie - so did you like Disney's Hilton Head? We are thinking of stopping there for a night in October on our way back from the cruise.

Mary, we did like HHI. There is not much going on in October though. But the resort was quiet & peaceful ... just what we needed for our 1st anniversary weekend stay. We stayed in a studio. I didn't get in the water because it was too cold for this southern girl. Bruce loved finding a hammock to relax in to read. I was able to lay out in the sun both at the pool at the resort & at the beach house. The one downside is that you either have to drive, take the shuttle or bike to the beach house. We've done all 3 options and all were ok. In Oct., I don't remember many options for food but we were ok with that. We had a car & were able to go out to dinner, etc. There were some nice restaurants within walking distance too. We opted to do that one night too.

A few years ago (2003, I think) we went back & stayed in a 2 bedroom villa for a long weekend with my sister's family. There were 8 of us and this time it was late May. We again had a great time. Both trips were off-season so there were not an over-abundance of kids.

I think you & Mark will enjoy the resort if you looking for a relaxing stay.
