Guess I had better post the dive story or should I call it the non-dive story(with some help from Vicki)
a couple of weeks before the cruise Vicki booked a dive for Gregg and I through NCL while we were in Belize, I wasn't sure which other islands we might want to dive in so we were waiting to book others on board.
When we go to our stateroom Vicki noticed the voucher for the dive wasn't there, no big deal we needed to book the other dive anyway. We had decided we were diving in Cozumel (as the excursion Stacey had booked us for pre cruise had been cancelled) Vicki and I proceded to the Excursion desk, waited in the line to be informed we needed to bring Gregg's dive card too, in order to book the excursion, we were able to get him to the atrium and got his info & completed the necessary forms, cancelled the excursion Stacey had booked us for in Belize and proceeded on our merry way. The next morning we found an envelope on the outside of our stateroom door. indide was tickets for the dive in Cozumel but not for Belize. Vicki & I stopped by the excursion desk to check into the missing tickets only to be told they had just filled the excursion and were not sure but they didn't have our names on a wait list it didn't look like we had booked that excursion. No one could find evidence of the online booking or the form that we had left with the staff member the previous day. No apologies, no let's see what else there is just it's full and you aren't on it..... well at least we had the diive in Cosumel to look forward to.
The last port, Gregg & I leave out bright and early heading to the end of the dock to meet the dive folks. knowing this might be the last time I get to dive (not something they will let me do after the surgery) we were rally looking forward to this dive. The water was so crystal clear as we were coming into port, the skies bright, sunny and not a cloud to be seen, what a great day for a dive! not so fast...... after all of the other NCL excursions have gone from the pier, a NCL excursion staff member walked up to our group and says ... there were mechanical problems with the dive company, they were not able to fill their tanks, both dives are cancelled (there was a discovery dive booked that day too) there are no other companies to dive with and turned around and walked away....
I noticed another boat getting ready to head out with passangers from the RCCL ship that was inport also, I was the first one to talk to the team leading this excursion, while gregg was completing the paperwork I ran back to the ship to grab the cash to pay for this excursion (didn't have that kind of cash as we were booked through the ship and it wasn't needed) As I got back I was informed they had overbooked and there now wasn't any space on their boat, we looked around the pier for another possible dive boat with no success, we carted all of that gear all that distance, possibly the last time I would get to dive at least in the islands and ....guess it just wasn't meant to be.
