Matt and I were in Tampa for the weekend. We ran in the Gasparilla Marathon. He ran the 1/2 and I ran the full.

Had a great time. The weather was almost perfect. Cold, but a little too windy.

We stopped at Official AllStar Cafe to watch the 500, but there was an event there and way to crowded. We found another sports bar and watched the start. Made it home in time to watch the ending. To bad Mark Martin could not hold one. It would have been great to see him win the 500 after all these years.

My office is closed today so I get a message. That is the joy of running 26.2 miles....to have someone rub oil all over my body. :scared1:

Now it is time to get ready for the next trip. I think it is time to go diving in South Florida.

Morning All - no posting for me this weekend...sorry for not holding up the team....

Freeze warning forSaturday morning, so Sam had to haul in some plants - porch looks like a forest. We had frost on the cars, but do not think we had much plant damage, some....

Saturday we attacked the library.....enough dust and feathers and fur to clog up several vacuums...With limited space, and the need to make room for the new hobby, diving, old material had to be sorted. Bags of books are now ready for the used book shop.

Sunday, it was rainy, windy and cold. Glad I was not diving, 12 foot seas, and cold. A bitter frost warning was posted, so Sam hauled in more plants. We covered the outside potted palms, and gave them a heat lamp last night.

Hope no one coming to S. Fla. wants clean sheets :rotfl: They can sleep under the palms:rotfl2:

Warming trend is coming.....

Sunday was spent doing shopping errands. I did test out digital cameras - yuck!!!! Sloppy lenses.......must try more. The Canon Rebel XTi has a nice setting panel, but the kit lense with it - yuck...Same for all the ones I tried at Circuit City.....

We watched the 500 - thought Jim might have been there, but nope he was running....During the race, I started on my Christmas Cruise scrap book. It was only 3 days, how many pictures can I take?

Welcome home everyone...will catch up.

Bye... :wave2:

I think someone needs to be reported to the Florida Bar.

I've seen pictures of you giving Hedgie drinks before which means he was still a minor.

I think contributing to the deliquency of a minor is a crime! :rolleyes1

Hedgie had never passed the Bar...SHE always goes in.....:rotfl2:

Good morning everyone!

Welcome home Stacey - the picture of the Golden Gate bridge is beautiful!

Jim - congrats to you and Matt on another marathon. I'm not a Mark Martin fan but I was hoping he would hold on to win as well.

Hope no one coming to S. Fla. wants clean sheets :rotfl: They can sleep under the palms:rotfl2:

I've given up on trying to cover anything that lives outside... I figure if it can't take the weather, it wasn't meant to live. Besides, I got tired of emptying my linen closet onto the front lawn after our first winter here... if it lives, great... if it dies, I'll replace it, or its one less thing that needs to be weeded, pruned, or otherwise maintained. Haven't lost anything yet. :)

I too was pulling for Martin yesterday... he deserves to win a 500!! But, at least the 3 stooges (the Busch brothers & Biffle) didn't win... I'd be throwing stuff at the TV if that were the case...

Good Morning All!

I was in Dallas for yet another Pilates training. Injuries and special populations - brain overload!! Out the door at 4:00 am on Thursday morning for the drive up. Just on the outskirts of Dallas we saw snow flurries. Took a little bit of time for my friend (who grew up in NY) and me to figure out that it wasn't stuff flying out from the back of the truck in front of us...it was snow!!! Got back late last night.

The kids informed me they were spoiled by dad this weekend. Pizza Friday, Fish sticks Saturday and Tuna Fish tacos yesterday.

I see all the fixings for Red Beans and Rice and the beans soaking on the counter - wonder if that's for tonight's dinner or do I have to come up with something? :confused3

Hi Kiki - Hi Ray - tried posting this first thing this morning but ERROR - ERROR -ERROR --

We were thinking about you this weekend with the race and all.....This is the one I try to watch. And did....exciting finish.

I always root for Home Depot team, sorry about his crash....

How were the pre-festivities????

Fireworks???

Inquiring minds want to know.......was this taken with the big camera or the little camera?

The little camera. I didn't take the big one. Wimpy....and Jay didn't volunteer even though I told him YOU said he should carry it.:confused3

Anyway, the little one did pretty good. Just not as good on some of the telephoto shots of the Bay.
I was looking at how good these actually DID come out, and thinking "Wow...just think how great these would have been with the Canon" :sad2:

Stacey, welcome home. Nice picture, hope Jared is feeling better!

Mary & Mark, have a wonderful trip! Bring home pictures to post!

Quiet President's Day. Kevin is at work, he usually goes in on holidays and he is the only one there.

We're home too. And like Stacey, we have a slightly sick one too. Ashley has the cruddy nose & woke up last night complaining of her ear hurting. She did it again when we got home so I'm taking her to the dr. in a few minutes to have them checked.

Mardi Gras in New Orleans was fun but we are EXHAUSTED!!! Way too much running for us. Fri. night we did a parade as soon as we got in. Sat. midday we went to see Bruce's mom & her husband in their local parade. As soon as that was over it was a race to get to New Orleans for Endymion. Saw Taylor Hicks, Journey & Styx (on the floats, of course). The parade was nice but there was a break-down and a 45 min. wait for the 2nd half of the parade to get to us. Surely was nice to have a place right on the parade route to rest! Yesterday we visited w/ Bruce's family & were just too wiped out to go to Bacchus last night.

Kiki, I think things are ok in New Orleans as long as you stay on well-traveled streets ... but, that's the way it's always been. We went down through some seedy areas of town but were always on the main streets. I didn't feel any differently than I did in years past. I feel like a lost soul though ... all of those back-street short cuts have escaped my mind in the last 10 years!

Need to get to the dr. with Ashley ...

Well, just got home from San Diego a little while ago. Weather was spectacular all weekend until last night when it started to rain and was still raining when I woke up this morning.

Had a good time, got to spend time with both of my brothers and with my cousins, who I don't see very often.

Karen (OM) we did the tour of the Midway on Friday. It is an awesome tour. It is $15 adults/$8 kids. It is an audio guided tour and does not cost extra for that. We spent about 2 1/2 hours, but could easily have stayed longer.

Well, gotta run and get Ashley to her music lesson and then on to swim practice.

Welcome home, everyone!

Hey, thanks for this tid-bit of info! :) My dad was on the Midway so it's near and dear to my heart. That's why he likes DCL so much b/c it reminds him of his Navy days (so he says) although he said the food was better on the Midway and the rooms were bigger! That's my dad.

We will definitely see the Midway when we're out there. In fact, my dad loved his visit to the Midway so much about a year ago, that he's going back. He'll be there when we are. And now I think my brother is joining him too. Turning into a family reunion. :)

Of course, my dad, having been ON the ship, says it'd take 2 or 3 days to see it REALLY well.....uh....I do'nt think I need to see it THAT well! :) But I'm sure, since we'll be with my dad, that we'll be there the good part of the day.

Thanks for the update... we'll be at the Convention Center during the days... We're staying at the Windsor Court, which is not the convention hotel, but my boss is picky about where we stay. We're doing dinner one night at Brennan's, and a private Jimmy Buffett concert/dinner on the field of the Superdome... that will leave us one night on our own, but we'll travel in a pack, and will probably just hire a limo to take us wherever we decide to go, as my boss will be with us.

Jim... Elizabeth and my mom were shopping at the Mall today... Elizabeth tells me... "Mom... we saw Matt and Lisa today... um...Matt drives FAST..." :rotfl: (Now keep in mind, her judgement isn't always very good...)

Morning All - a belated welcome back as well....

Busy, busy day for me - traveling again.

Wonder if Matt will sign up to drive me so I can sleep later????

Thanks for the update. Guess I need to check the GPS and with Lisa.

Funny, when I'm with him he is a really safe and slow driver. :lmao:

Besides, it was Sharon that wrecked her car on Saturday and not Matt. She hit some small animal on the way home from the gym. Driveable, but just another thing to mess with. Duct tape fixes anything. :lmao:

Good morning everyone! Happy Tuesday!

Gotta love those small cars! Can't even hold their own against a small animal!!!!:rotfl:

I saw Sharon in the Publix parking lot the other day and honked... but then realized that I'm sure she has no idea who I am in my new truck... she probably just thinks I'm some crazy person... oh wait... that fits...

Just giving us a bump ... we were on page 2.

Happy Mardi Gras to everyone! My best friend called this morning from the float that she's riding on today. Wish I was still here. Maybe we'll win the lottery tonight!

Mark & Mary, have a great time in Hawaii! That trip certainly did come around quickly.

Glad I took Ashley to the dr. yesterday afternoon. She did have an ear infection. Now we have the chore of getting her take her meds & keep them down!
