Catching up on the vacation stories. Day 3 Part 2 was the second dive. The reef is called the “Supermarket” and it was the same reef we dove the day before. I love this reef, it is shallow and full of marine life, fish, corral, spiney urchins, lobster, stingray, schools of tangs, angel fish, conch, oh, I need my fish identifier. I like to look at the very wee fish, so tiny you wonder how they survive and so, so colourful

You can see the reef from the boat and the background sea is crystal blue. I also enjoy the ability of just swimming free - no wreck, depth time etc to worry about. Sam and I went off by ourselves and swam up the corral and down what looked like old river beds, up corral and down river beds. Of course, we then got lost. Yes, we have a compass, no I did not look, so we had a wee bit of a swim back to the boat.

It looked like one of the DVDs you play of an aquarium......

Then it was back to the dock to drop off the cruise ship passengers, and time for a quick lunch at the local dockside bar - Tickles. (And still no worries about the dive gear....ahhhhhh......and if we want more sand and sun and beach, well, the bay is right outside our room....(I think I am spoiled.).

Happy Holly, click on the blue words "Disney Cruise Line Forum" at the top of this page. There is more information on that board than you would ever need to know about the cruises. There's a Search, too. Not that we don't want to answer your questions, but you'll learn a lot more there.

Kiki, sorry to hear about your friend.

Maria, Yay! That sounds like fun, I looked too, but still couldn't come up with a flight home. We are using Reward coupons to get home on the 21st, it's black out after that. And the fares haven't dropped at all.

Not only is Kevin diving in December, he and Jim are planning to camp out in a tent the night before! Alicia has elected to stay with me. Maybe the IQ test was right after all.

Now that was just plain and simple "Mean"!!!

To insinuate that your daughter doesn't have the IQ power to sleep in a tent and have a VERY cool night dive.......

Thanks so much. That is what I thought, but I wanted to be sure. Can you also explain what the deal is about the signs. I heard we will want signs for our cabin, table, etc? I want to be prepared!
Aslo is there a pirate party or something? I have a million questions!

Making signs for our cabin door is part of the fun while waiting for the cruise. I love making the signs. I do mine on the computer, and mostly print them on magnetic paper (from Office Max) but I've also printed them on plain paper and used the stick-on magnet squares. I've also made a few on poster board, using pictures cut from magazines, etc.
We put them on the outside and inside of our door....just for fun...and it also helps you to locate your room easily!

One night onboard is "Pirate Night". Some people dress in costumes, some will do something smaller, like wear an eyepatch or tattoos....and some just go in regular clothes and enjoy. Everyone is given a pirate bandana at dinner, and the menu is printed to look like a treasure map. After the late seating of dinner is over, there is a pirate party on Deck 9. Don't want to spoil the surprises, so I won't give details, but it is loads of fun. There's also a buffet set up out there.

Let's cut to the chase. This is your third report on how great the trip was.

If the costs were the same, Cruise vs Island Resort, which would you select?

Wonder if we know anyone that might be able to help us out? :confused3

There are times when I'd love to twist both of your arms........

Are you ready for this one....

Our lunch was limited to one after dive beer....and can you guess why?

Guessed yet????

Night Dive.

Yes, a
Night Dive..

Remember I mentioned the other couple that we dove we, as well as the instructor - they talked me into a Night Dive..

We met back at the docks at 5:30 - it was still daylight and headed back to the wreck of the Kennedy - then it was dive-dive-dive. There were two instructors and 5 divers, another gal joined us. By the time we were at the bottom, it was dark. Guess what my souvenir was from the trip? Yup, a dive light. As I said we were NOT going night diving, Sam did not pack any lights.

The wreck was eerie at night time. The sandy bottom was alive with Sting rays, all swimming, not stationery like in the daytime. And we say the largest puffer - about 4 feet honest - in the hole of the wreck. No penetration during the night, but as we had dove the wreck before, I knew the layout. And yes, we saw more turtles. Sam has the neatest picture of a crab - looked like he just came out of the pot, he was so red. The fish were just sort of floating around.

Then the instructor had us all kneel on the bottom and turn off our lights. By waving our arms, the phosphorescence glowed so bright we could see each other. How neat, how cool.....

Soon it was time to surface - and this time we all surfaced together with the first to run out of air. Yup, I think it might have been Sam. Since the next day was a day off from diving we celebrated at Tickles.

Regrets, only one...had I known, I could have signed up for another certification program as I had the dives to complete it....Oh well, I probably would have flunked the written exam.

Oh, figured out the white text....NIGHT DIVE.

There really is a pirate buffet - I have never found it - maybe in December - Hey Matt - ready for some more food??????

It's on the starboard side, toward the aft.
One cruise, we actually did LOOK at the buffet...and took pictures. The other cruises we've not even gone to look. I can't even think of eating that much!

How cool hearing about your night dive! That phosphorescence thing is really amazing, huh? We've done night "snorkels"...that's pretty fun, too.

sorry to barge in guys, but I was just wondering if any of you were having any luck getting your hands on a nintendo wii system??? I didnt even know these knew game systems were coming out until I saw people sleeping outside of the dang Target the night before! LOL Then my CJ tells me that he would like to have one....

Someone posted on the budget board that they saw them at the ToysRUs in Alpharetta. If you call the store & find out there is one, I'd be happy to pick one up tomorrow. It's 5 min. from my office.

We wound up sort of in your neck of the woods on Sun. I-85 came to a stop just after exit 2. We did a u-turn in the median & got off at exit 2 & headed toward I-185. Thank goodness we had a southeastern US states map in the truck.

Yep. That was the one. Sorry!

Sorry, but no PS3, New X-boxes, or what ever they have out right now.

We are not "bleeding edge" when it comes to all the gaming systems. I'll wait a year or so until the price jobs and all the games are out.

Besides, Matt should be doing homework and not playing games! :rotfl:
