I need some more help from our computer savy friends.

At Thanksgiving my parents gave me a DVD containing 400 jpgs of our old family photos. They had them scanned and put to disk.

They came out pretty well and print nicely.

However, there are no details on who, what, where, when. A lot of the photos we just don't remember where or when they were taken.

I would like to print out an index page with several thumbnail photos on them with room for my parents to write some details about each picture. I've been playing with how to do this. I know I can put the pictures in to a Word doc and print them, but that is a lot of cutting and pasting.

Is there a simple way to print an index page with photos just going down one side of the page? :confused3

sorry to barge in guys, but I was just wondering if any of you were having any luck getting your hands on a nintendo wii system??? I didnt even know these knew game systems were coming out until I saw people sleeping outside of the dang Target the night before! LOL Then my CJ tells me that he would like to have one....

I heard that each store only got 8 of those systems to begin with. If you weren't camped out, you're SOL.

Now you are starting to sound like OH and that is not a good thing. :guilty:

I'll take that as a compliment....I know how much you really love her!

Someone posted on the budget board that they saw them at the ToysRUs in Alpharetta. If you call the store & find out there is one, I'd be happy to pick one up tomorrow. It's 5 min. from my office.

We wound up sort of in your neck of the woods on Sun. I-85 came to a stop just after exit 2. We did a u-turn in the median & got off at exit 2 & headed toward I-185. Thank goodness we had a southeastern US states map in the truck.

Ahhh, another reason to love DIS - friends help out with the hard to find gifts. I recall we had similar posts last year...of course, I don't recall what the hot to find gifts were....

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Bye! We'll miss you! :sad1: Safe travels, have a wonderful time, win-win-win, spend-spend-spend........

Have fun, Stacey! Say Hi to Frances, and tell her to post.

Amanda, I saw a long column of ads for that game system this morning, in the classifieds. Most of them were about four times the original price, and most of them were PS 3s. I'm sure they're on Ebay too, though I heard they might not allow them to be paid for through Paypal any more. Too many scams.

Smart daughter is sleeping in this morning. Two nights in a row of 12 bedtimes (late rehearsals) have done her in. I will get her up soon so she won't miss her Math class.

Thanks for noticing..... I think :confused3 :lmao:

I got a kick out of your smilies! So, can you post an entire post using smilies to convey your message??

Are you ready for this one....
Oh, figured out the white text....NIGHT DIVE.
Aren't they WONDERFUL??
My favorite is the fact that you get to see the octopus, squid and other nighttime dwellers and the daytime creatures are still, so you can study them up close. :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Did you get the blood worms swarming on the dive lights??? :thumbsup2

Bummer! When's his birthday??

From what I've seen and heard, those are going to be hard to find. Do a google search, maybe you'll have some luck.

Have you looked at Picasa? It's bascially a photo sorting/album type software and is free. It might fit the bill. I played with it several months ago, but I was looking for something different.

Alas - none of the above were spotted by me..... :sad2:

A Typical Tourist Day - no diving.

(Anyone have a good program to recover photos that we took but are no longer displayed in the digital camera. and you wonder why I use film???)

OK - up early in time to go to the dive shop (why if we are not diving? Sam wanted to drop off the dive camera for safe keeping). Stopped at the grocery to make up a picnic lunch.

Then around St. Thomas, through the town and port and to the other side of the island to catch the ferry. (We also caught the morning traffic - oh well). I love driving on the wrong side of the road up and down hills where the speed limit seems like a roller coaster ride and you are only going at 10 mmh.

We were in luck, the ferry was just pulling up and we pulled on for the 20 minute hop to St. John, which is smaller and has smaller roads than St. Thomas. Our first stop was the National park HQ for maps and a briefing. I had wanted to take a 3 hour hike to see ruins and petroglyphs but alas, that was not meant to be. Oh yes, at this point it is raining.

We took the spine road to the other end of the island, stopping to see some overviews of magnificant harbors and bays. We drove through small poor villages, and clusted communities, one dating back to the 1700's.

Then we turned to the coast road, which is really more "touristy" and the sun is now shining (beating down is more like it). We toured several ruins - Sugar Mills and homes, with a stop at the beach for our picnic. We decided not to snorkel (sorry Stacey). The other two divers we met did and they were disappointed. The reefs were too crowded and damaged.

We wandered through the views of the famous St. Johns Bays, see map, but decided not to stop and mingle with 1000 of our closest friends.

Soon it was time to return to the ferry - missed it - so we were forced to drink milkshakes and stroll the local market until the next one came.

We arrived back on St. Thomas in time for the evening traffic and it was worse than the morning. Between nightfall and the accident we had to stop for, we made it as far as the Cruise Terminal and I parked....Time to give the driver and the car (brakes) a rest. So, it was a few shops for the mandatory tourist gifts and a hop across the street to check out the pub that was closed when we were here in November last year....and dinner as well.

Then back on the road to the hotel, to sleep, to dive the next day.

Later.... :wave2:

Try Lexar's Image Rescue. It comes with their media cards, but you can download it here.
