I was looking through the old wedding pics, and realized that I should take these and have them restored and put on disk. They aren't holding up well. And they weren't that great to begin with. Just snapshots.

Anyway, here we were, 19 years ago today.....Megan was 3 months short of being 5 years old.

Hate to change the subject here, but I've got to VENT! Anyone else have CONTROLLING architectural control committees in their neighborhoods. Last week I submitted the new color choices for the exterior (siding, stucco, trim & shutters) of our house. For the siding we picked a Sherwin Williams color named Clary Sage, if anyone wants to look it up online. Anyway, the ACC chairman just called to say that it was too dark and they didn't want us to set a precedence! Have they looked at any of the new homes being built these days???? That color isn't even dark. ARGH!!! Then he informs me that they will TRY to pick a color pallette within the next 30 days. After that, I'm sure the community would have to vote on it. This is something that they've been talking about for 2 years & no one has gotten off their duff to do it! So if we want to change the exterior color of our home, we have to guess as to what the ACC will approve. Our exterior needs to be painted really bad. Not sure that we can put it off until someone chooses colors. I really am tired of our current (original) colors.

Oh my goodness!! Seriously?? I wouldn't be able to live there! It'd drive me nuts! We have very few deed restrictions....all of them I can live with. Such as "no cars up on blocks in the yard," "can't build a second home on our lot," "no boats or RV's in the drive," "all buildings on the lot must be the same color."

Now, it's typically not an issue. For example, our house was blue and our shed was blue. We moved KT's playhouse here 8 yrs ago and it was tan (so therefore didn't match.) We changed our house so it matched the playhouse and so now the shed doesn't match. Our neighbor parks his RV by his house. No one complains.

The only time ppl on the street complained (got this from the street gossip, this was before our time here) was when someone owned an 18 wheeler and he'd park it in the street and he wasn't good about watching for kids when he was turning it around. So they ran him out of town citing "deed restrictions" as the cause.

Our home owner's association can be a P.I.T.A. yes, we're limited on what we can and cannot do both in the front and belive it or not, in the backyards (which have 6 ft high fences)

we were supposed get our play structure approved - limiting the heighth including the canopy and the color of canopy - only a special order ( $$$) solid color - not the standard rainbow at the time we built the structure. They even have tried to limit what the school can and cannot erect on the grounds. When the dish networks first were released - they attempted to forbid the installation of the dishes. Periodically they do a front door check to determine if there is sun fading - then we get a notice that we must varnish our doors.

Our house is right at the entrance of the subdivision - on a corner - so we're easy targets for the association "police"

The ACC thing would make me livid!! I realize like most folks that new neighborhoods want to keep the continuity of design. But what it does is to create a layer of bureaucracy that makes the people in charge little tyrants!! Seen it many times over! So now "they" are going to pick the color of YOUR house???? Good luck with that. I understand your rant!!!
