Here's our wedding photo ... Oct. 17, 1997. My dress is a little more plain that everyone else's. I made my own veil to match my dress.

Have to add the story on the dress. I, as I am sure it is with all brides, KNEW exactly what style of dress I wanted & this was not it. I spent the day trying on dresses with an empire waist with lots of lace & beading on the bodice and more of an a-line dress - something more straight. This dress was on the mannequin at the dress shop. I sort of looked at it when we walked in. As I was trying on dresses, the sales lady came in & said you really MUST try on this dress. I told her that it wasn't what I was looking for. She insisted that I try it on. I put it on and that was it. My friend that was helping me agreed that it was the dress for me.

'SCUSE ME!

Note to self - "Call Visa and dispute charges!!!!!!!"

On with the morning tup - I am back off to work...

Must make money to pay for Disney (apparently, for me and Dis friends!!!!)

There should not be to much on your charge card.....just Matt's food bill!:rotfl2:

I'm sitting in the airport, my flight is delayed so I have some time to give more Food and Wine thoughts.

On Sunday we purchased a "gift card" that was good at all the food stations for each of the kids. Put $20 on each card and then let them decide where they wanted to eat and how much. They had a great time and ended up with $1.7 left on it. They both agreed that it was more fun and easier doing it this way then to mess with money and change.

I'm going to have to try the Party of the Senses. Sam and Irene gave it a great description and now I really want to go.

The only disappointment for the weekend was not being able to get a Race for the Taste t-shirt.

We looked and looked, but could never find them. Come to find out they were sold out by Saturday morning. This is the first time Disney did not have something for me to spend money on.

Matt really wanted a t-shirt since this was his first 10K. He is still wearing the plastic braclet they gave us. Hopefully I can find him a shirt so he will take the braclet off. :rotfl2:

That's odd ... or is it just Disney's way of making more money? I always thought that race t-shirts came "free" with the race entry.

Very pretty! You did great matching the veil, too. It's interesting how it sometimes works that way with the "perfect dress".......almost the same thing happened when Megan was looking for her wedding dress.

Jim, that sounds like a wonderful weekend. If we lived there, we'd be all over Party of the Senses! I like the gift card idea, is it new? And was it simple to use, or did it hold up the line?

Angie, you look beautiful in your elegant dress. My dress was far from fancy. It was a lightweight cotton organza(?) by Jessica McClintock. I found it on a sale rack at the bridal shop for $100! It was the first dress I tried on, and it seemed perfect for our country themed wedding. Which was also low budget and DIY, but really fun. We hired a real photographer, but got some better pictures from some of our friends.

I am still suffering from the cruise crud. Kind of wondering if I'm going to break down and go to the doctor. I should, since that seems to be the point at which I start to get better, not that they will do anything.

Jim, Irene, and families....what a great weekend! Sounds like so much fun. Congrats to Matt....I think he charged the finish line so that he could move on the to the food, though. ;)

Diana, hope you get to feeling better. Yes, you should go to the doctor. Y'all have been home for over a week now, right?

I don't think it's how much you spend on a wedding - that's not the important part of the whole thing.

Ha! I was just thinking, the name of the race is so appropriate for Matt. "Race for the Taste". Well, try Ebay in the next couple of weeks. You might find some race t-shirts on there. Poor planning on Disney's part!

I've now been sick 11 days, that's as long as the cruise! Maybe it's my HMO, but it just isn't worth the effort and co-pay to go to the doctor. They really don't help.

And that means Food and Wine memories.....Here is the First.....

Wild & Wonderful Florida Shrimp

Chilled Rock Shrimp with Mango Salsa - Irony of Ironies, that we have to go to WDW to find rock shrimp....This chilled appetizer was good. Not great, but good.....

Sauteed Shrimp with Ginger and Lime - We liked this better than the rock shrimp. Maybe rock shrimp just need JB's, peel and eat plates, and beer??? The ginger and lime sautee was pungent but not overpowering.

Blue Fish Riesling - Also a non-starter for us.
Florida Orange Groves Mango Wine - Sorry Diana - we did not try the wine.

(P.S.) or is it a pre-script - We start each day with a glass of champagne at the Festival Marketplace, in case you think that we are passing up tasting opportunities.

The Medals they received were perfect for this race (Maybe Jim or Matt can post a picture of one). They were Mickey Mouse's with a small fork, knife, and spoon hanging from the the medal. Jim and Matt wore they in the park at Food and Wine Festival (as did many other people).

Our kids used to get a set number of Disney dollars each trip. When it was gone, it was gone. It was a hassle dealing with the change and the coins. Then, about a year ago, they came out with the gift cards. We switched over to those and they are really really nice! KT got hers one trip, then Nick got his the next....luckily in that amount of time they came out with a new style so each kid has their own design. :)

Did not hold up the line at all. Just as fast as a credit card. :)

I'll pretend I didn't hear that.
oh....Miiiiikkkkkkkeeeeee.......

Sounds like everyone had fun at F/W. I will chime in on the gift cards. Love them. I bought some for the kids to use on our last trip and it was great. I will definitely want to buy again to use when we go next time. Wahhhhh, that is a long way off.

Thinking about doing a spring break trip to Disneyland so I can get my Disney fix. Unfortunately, it is just not the same as going to WDW.

And that means more food....(well after I leave work).

Argentina

Not a fair test for me as I am not a meat eater. Nothing outstanding at the food booth from this critic.

Spicy Beef Empanadas
Grilled Beef Sirloin with Chimichurri - Sam tried this - ho hum.
Marinated Strawberries with Basil - not too good. The strawberries tasted frozed and then thawed, and there was not sufficient evidence of basil for my taste. Out of fairness, when I use fresh strawberries for ice cream, they end up tasting frozen...ok that did not come out right - when you let fresh strawberries sit with sugar, they lose their fresh taste.
Bodegas Salentein Chardonnay
El Portillo Pinot Noir
Bodegaas Salentein Malbec
El Portillo Cabernet Sauvignon

Call me confused about the cards for the kids.....but if you're staying at one of the resorts, can't they just charge what they want to the room??

Have to brag on my big girl Emily. We just had our parent/teacher conference this morning. The first thing out of the teacher's mouth was "Do you have any questions for me before I tell you how wonderfully Emily is doing?" We always have concerns that she'll fall behind because of her late birthday. She just turned 6 in late Aug. and some of her classmates have already turned 7 (starting Sept. 1). Her teacher said that she didn't realize until a week or so ago that Emily was a full year younger than some of her classmates. She also said that if she isn't struggling now that she doesn't see it being an issue in the future.

You can BRAG all you want to....congrats on Emily's progress......

#1 - Not sure that works after you check out.

#2 - Not sure how you place a limit - per kid - on a card. I thought it was "per room".

But then Scuba is mean to his kids.....After all, how far does 50 cents go now adays.... :teeth:
