Well, we celebrated the last day of summer. Went to the beach for linner (lunch and dinner combined) and then played in the water for a couple of hours.

We did a quick review of the summer and no one had any complaints about the summer. What could Matt complain about? :rotfl2:

It's off to school in the morning! :cool1:

Actually, I'm not thrilled with that because the night time conversation goes from "how was the beach" to "do you have all your school work done?" It's just not any fun.

Oh well. :confused3

Hey Kevin. I think I found what you have been looking for. A GPS braclet for tracking children.

The ionKids System is the perfect blend of ergonomics and simplicity. It consists of two components: a comfortable, unobtrusive bracelet for the child to wear and a convenient base unit a parent can easily carry and operate. Note: Unit is not waterproof for swimming, just splash-resistant for washing hands.

Base Unit

The parent or guardian uses this small, easy to use device to monitor the location of the Wristag wearer. The Base Unit, a handheld device, allows parents to monitor up to four Wristags simultaneously.

Wristag

The child wears this specially designed tamper-and water-resistant bracelet. The Wristag is designed to be fun to wear and requires no interaction on the part of the child. ionKids Wristags adjust to fit snugly against your child's skin, and contain a strong locking mechanism that cannot be opened easily without a key, which comes with the Base Unit.

Hey all, just checking in to let everyone know that I'm not dead........

Jim, don't know if that is going to work. First thing the kids will do is to jump in the pool! :rolleyes1

Hey, you diving at all this summer?? Wanna go to Key Largo this winter?

Hi guys! Got home, flight delayed coming back also. Unpacked, did my laundry, and re-packed. I'm tired.

We had a good time, though. It was nice to get away for a bit. Other than the cruise, I hadn't been anywhere this summer.

Sorry, gaRry...didn't win enough to buy you a liver. But then, there might be a law against that, anyway.

Will check back in when I can....TTFN!

ARRGGG - Long Post just got sent to the twilight zone... :badpc:

Take 2, We're back from a nice relaxing weekend in South Padre Island. A last hurrah before school starts Thursday. John heads off tomorrow morning to Chicago for three days of meetings- unpack and repack. edit - I just read stacey's post - that unpack and repack thing sounds familiar

We stayed with John's friend from his MBA classes and their family. They have a gorgous home on a channel on the bayside of South Padre. We sampled various local "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants for fresh seafood and breakfast. :thumbsup2

Maggie was quite the fisherwoman - landing a good sized grouper and a redfish - all on a child sized pole - off their dock. Every good fishing expedition has it's own fish tale - dad tried to help her with an even bigger redfish but it cut the line and got away.

John didn't have much luck - just a smaller fish he had to release - he also caught a pole one of their nephews had dropped into the water a few weeks earlier.

Tomorrow starts the insanity. Maggie starts back to dance class - 2 hours. Ballet and Jazz - Mike has his 6th grade orientation at the middle school which overlaps Maggie's classes- it only says 6:30 - does it mean we can come and go - or is it a fixed schedule with a start and end time :confused3 ...looks like I'm running around like crazy again.... sigh...no easing into this gradually....

Just checked Galle's former church's website for updates on their healing since it's back online - Mom, Cathy, is recovering nicely from her surgery and looks like she may be released next Monday or Tuesday - this was written Friday so I don't know if "next" means this Monday or Tuesday or the following.

Stephanie is doing well in therapy, walking on the treadmill and responding to questions in a few words or small sentences but still not conversing. They still are prayerfully considering when she will be strong enough to handle the news about her father and sisters.

The Prayers and Pixie dust are making a difference!!!

Been incognito for the last couple of days. This was the Canada fishing trip weekend for Mike. I stayed with my mom (and the new puppy) Fun fun fun. :) We're home now and beat. Acting classes start up again tomorrow. Sooner or later I've got to figure out when we're starting school.

Now that this past weekend is over, onto planning our weekend with Mark and Mary! Can only do one thing at a time, after all! :)

Ok, DS 11's birthday went off with just a few hitches. The cake(red velvet) got smooshed on the way to the pool and I had to make some repairs at the pool.

DIPPIN DOTS were a huge hit. We still have some leftover :cool1: :cool1:

Perfect amount of food no leftover and everybody was happy.(cept the dippin dots)

I got beach towels for party favors and it was nice not having to deal with goodie bags, pinatas, games, prizes and, all that other stuff. I just passed out the towels after the dippin dots. The kids were very surprised to get such a "kewl" favor.

The lifeguards love when we hosts our party there because they always get lunch/dinner and tons of cake.

Just a tip I put the big gallons of Hawaiian Punch in the freezer the night before and they were nice and slushy everybody was surprised by this and we didn't have to worry about extra ice and having drinks watered down. I had bottled water (half pints), HP, and caffine free sodas but most everybody had water or HP. I really don't like giving the kids sodas and if I get the juice boxes or pouches they tend to take a sip and go swim and they get a new one when they get back. I hate to waste a whole box of juice when they take one sip so the big gallons are a better choice.

Overall, it was a very nice day weather wise and the DS had a blast. We were at the pool for 5 hours. I am totally spent!!

Hope everybody is safe and healthy.

Good luck to all the kiddie going back to school this morning.

My kids don't start till the end of the month for DS 8 in private school and after labor day for the DS 11 who starts middle school and the DD 3 who starts preschool.

We had tax free shopping this weekend but I didn't get a shopping done because I was preparing this the DS 11's party. Bummer

WHERE DID MY POST GO???? IT DISAPPEARED????

See, you don't post for a while and the boards eat your post???

FIRST - PIXIE DUST FOR ALL WHO are in surgery or recovery.......

It has ben a busy time for me at work, keeping me from posting my quota.

Then this weekend, we hosted Mother's birthday dinner. That required the normal flurry of housecleaning, grocery shopping, food preparation etc.

Does anyone remember the presentation for the caviar in Paolo? We tried to copy it, but alas, it was missing something, perhpas Ambiance? No blue seas....

Saturday I tried a little gardening, way too hot to stay out more than 2 hours. At this pace, the jungle will win....oh well....

Sunday we headed to the island for Mass and a swanky breakfast before we picked up Mother. Seas were choppy. We are diving next weekend, so I hope it clears. Which reminds me, must insert the dive picturs back into the album. Had to take them out when I showed it to Mother. She had to be assured that the ones of snorkeling were not "deep sea diving"....and none of you can tell.....

Had the strangest dram last night....Do not remember the subject. I do recall thinking that Dr. Mike will know and I had to check his old columes???
Funny right?

Anyway, take care and have a good morning....

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Monday!

Stacey -welcome home! Safe travels to your Dad and I'm keeping him in my prayers.

Monica - great news on the family!

Karen - we're excited about heading out your way. Mark did a full check of the car to get ready for the road trip! Friday will be here before we know it!

Good morning all. We are still having serious flooding here in El Paso. We had another storm late yesterday afternoon that dumped 3" in less than an hour. Unbelievable.

They finally brought pump trucks into our street night before last to start pumping out the water. It is still deep, but a little more manageable.

Well, gotta go. We have lots of work to do around here today.

Extra efforts and pixie dust for those of you facing the flooding. It looks terrible on the news....Glad you found time to post an update. :grouphug: For you and your neighbors.

It looks like we are at WDW every weekend in October.

Let us know.

We are bookending October, right now. Our Anniverary weekend and the end of Oct. We normally go in November, but this year we are diving in St. Thomas, yes, must rub it in.....(I think I will go to He CK for all the evading of the truth with the Mother thing about diving, but why stress her.....)

Of course we will go up to see GaRRy. Very disappointed that they raised the price of Party of the Senses sooo high this year. Poohy....And the other events are also raised.

I was on hold for 45 minutes from 7:00 am and did not get the ressies for the Canada wine tasting - all sold out. Then my brain kicked inot gear....A "Wild Thing" from Canada prob. pairs wine with wild meat, which I do not eat....So. we will try Living Seas....Maybe more whites, but it will be fun, Never tried this event before....

We did pick up PArty of the Senses Tickets, but no lunches or Exquisite Dinners. We enjoy strolling around the world and grazing......

Scoopie had fun when he went with us last year. I sent Mark the disk of Scoopies adventures. (Hedgie is jealouss - she did not get her picture taken).

So, what do I ever have to complain about???????

Thank you for the update....

Hey, you diving at all this summer?? Wanna go to Key Largo this winter?

It's been a dry summer. I'm trying to get on the boat this weekend with Sam and Irene, but it is full. Hopefully someone will cancel.

Of course I'm interested in Key Largo. Remember, it's cheaper to do a liveaboard!

Prayers and Pixie Dust for my Dad.

He went to the Doctor last week and they have told him that his cancer is back and it is very aggressive this time. They have told him six months maximum. (However, we have had these dire predictions before only to have him go into remission. This has happened enough times that you know one of theses times it can't happen again).

I am SO GLAD we all got to spend a week with him in Alaska recently. I think he had a great time. Being so far away, it is always hard to know what I should do to help. My sister and younger brother certainly take up most of the care (to Dr appointments, etc). So, what our plans are going to be for the various holidays gets much more complicated.

Sharon - so sorry to hear about your dad. It is great that you got to spend the time with him....

PD for all those need it...

Yeah, but I don't do liveaboards. And I will be along on this trip. That means resort, restaurants, shopping. Hate to do that to you.

Sharon, of course your Dad will be added to the prayer list. And you too. It's tough when they are far away.
