How FUN! We used to do that all the time. Why is it that it was so much fun back then, but now having the king size bed in the A.C. seems so much better???

That is what Sharon is saying while Lisa and I talk to her about back packing over Thanksgiving weekend.

BTW - Lisa just served me a Rum and Coke so any typos are her fault!!! ;)

Hey....the 11 night Southern Caribbean cruise has TONS of empty rooms...just in case anyone is interested.

It'll be interesting if it doesn't fill up....I've never been on a ship that had so many empty rooms.

Imagine the UPGRADES they'll be giving out!!!

We got an email that they are offering Florida resident rates for that trip.

Sorry but Sharon won't let me go with all the ladies. :confused3

And I don't think you will be getting an upgrade unless the Captain lets you have his room. :rotfl:

We have not heard from Matt this week. Hopefully he is still alive and will be making his plane flights on Wednesday! :guilty:

You're supposed to BRING Sharon! Book a 12...and get upgraded to a FOUR! At the rate they're going, it could happen...........
Matt's old enough to stay home and take care of Lisa.

I'd share with the Captain, if it were the cute one from Norwegian.

Or maybe Thord.
I think we have Henry. I haven't seen Henry since Megan's wedding cruise. At least, I THINK we had Captain Henry back then.

Hi folks --- just woke up....had a great day....started early - up and attem for DIVE*DIVE*DIVE.

Knock me over with a feather, as we went to bed last night amist the thunder, I never thought we would make it today. Seas were 1-2 and sun was out. We dove Jolly Jack reef - tres cool.....soooo many fish. I took my camera for the first time...ok, do not wait for pics - either user error (probably) or mechanical (prob. not). but vis as poor - only about 20 - but so many fish, they were having a convention...We say everything, including 3 sharks. Sam and I were back and one came out from under the reef - quite a large nurse the rest of the divers did not see him (her) but she swam under us for a bit....neat....A queen angel swam right towards me...though she was going to play kissy face..and several morays.....Second dive was Yellowtail, an old river bed. Neat Coral, not as many fish... the little burroweres, (Kevin, help are they wrasse?) were all around as were the big eyes. Saw a chocolate and whote fish that was interesting but no idea what it was, they swam in pairs well so do we...wonder what fish think of these schools of human fish....

Thanks for the tips by the way, I no longer dog paddle (Jim) and I do try to cross my legs while going down (Kevin) but still find it hard. We cut my weight (now down to 6 pounds) Sam wants to cut it again. First time that I had lots of air but hit the N limit. Back in the boat at 1200 psi.....but this dive the N caught everyone...guess we were deeper than we thought 80 feet - did not seem like that.

I still like the teeny fish - small vlue ones or the neon ones....and the little white ones...(OK OK I need to study a fish book)
These were supposed to be drift dives, hard to drift with no current....

After dives (wher we ran into our instructor who also just came back from Coz) we went to Gators to watch the World Cup....not like the Irish Pub at WDW. The only excitement was me spilling my beer.....The bartender offered another "on him" but it was time to go.....(which is a really nice way of saying I had had a sufficency).

Hope you all had a nice a day as we did...Gear drying now...

SIL in need of more prayers. Her son called us last night at 1:30 - she needed a blood transfusion and went into surgery today to drain her lungs...not sure at all what is happening as the word from her son is not as specific as I would like....this is very hard for him, so not complaining, as the hospital is very busy right now and he does not have much time to converse with the mds, and he does not understand what they are telling him.....that might be a good thing....Sam's Daddy died from a smiliar ailement, so perhaps not understanding is better....

Did I request prayers and pixie dust........can't have too many!!!!

Hey Stace - we still have it -- great minds think alike!!!!! :Pinkbounc

This post would make more sense if the 40 second rule had allowed me to post the following post first.

Time for a rum and coke. Or maybe a beer!

HEY! Camera-savvy and generally smart people! Can someone tell me in simple terms what an SLR camera is and why it's better than a plain old digital???
As Sandi mentioned, SLR stands for single lens reflex. You are looking "through" the lens at the viewfinder to see what the lens sees. This has some advantages and disadvantages. The P&S cameras have the display which is a lot eaiser to hold above crowds, take pictures of yourself and a friend or just get some interesting shot angles. But you don't always get the same picture and exposure you saw in the display.

The main advantage for me is the lack of shutter lag (no more fish butts :teeth: ). A DSLR or film SLR will meter, focus and take the picture in milliseconds (the camera I have now will take five frames per second, Great of action shots). The buffer is larger so you can take them faster and then the camera will write them to the memory card.

A P&S camera can have a huge lag and can miss a lot of action shots because of it. Another plus is the interchangeble lenses. A P&S camera has the lens on it. They do offer some optical zoom (the more, the better) but with a SLR camera you can get different lenses for different options. Long distance close ups, macro, wide angle, etc. Plus, usually the better lenses are more sharp and offer better exposure options for you as well.

hope that helps.......

I was getting clearer shots by shooting behind the fence than I was if I placed the camera lens through the fence. :confused3 Kevin? John? Mark?
Check to see if the camera offers a "spot focus" The way you can use a lower f/stop (lower number) and focus on the subject, that creates a very narrow depth of field and the the other stuff outside the subject will be blurred out. (hint; SLR's can do that)
