We have bags packed and ready to evacuate the house tonight if needed. Will post tomorrow after this storm has passed.

Ugh!!! Stay safe... and keep us posted when you get a chance!

We sure could use some rain here, though its better than it had been... and now with Tropical Storm Chris on the map, I'd better be careful what I wish for.

Pam stay safe!!! Thoughts, Prayers and PD for you and your family!!!

Stacey -- are you getting rain like we are. It is pouring here. we have had more rain in 3 weeks than I think all year. Major flooding in the desert lowland. They even cancelled band practice at the high school today because of the rain.

Got Dale registered yesterday and Ashley goes on Thursday. Can't decide if I am excited or not about them going back to school. Went and did school shopping on Saturday. Wow, spent a lot of money and still have a few things to do.

Saturday night we had over an inch in a very short amount of time. I was amazed at the flooding it caused in our creek. Once again we have tree branches, mud and yuck all over. But we need it. Now they say that our "monsoon" is over already...and we didn't get nearly enough rain. Lots of thunder and lightning, but hardly ever any rain.

Okay guys, we have had way too much rain here in El Paso today. It has been raining alot the last few weeks, but we have had 9" today here on the westside and it has started raining harder again.

We closed the college at noon today and it took me over 1 1/2 hours to get home. Interstate 10 was closed and I had to go side streets etc. for 0ver 20 miles to get home. Just posted on the news that they have closed all freeways into El Paso.
We haven't had rain like this in over 50 years. We are about a mile from the Rio Grande River and they are projecting that it will break the levee's between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. tonight. If the levee's break, we will definitely be flooded. We have bags packed and ready to evacuate the house tonight if needed. Will post tomorrow after this storm has passed.

Holy cow! That makes my 1" look like a teaspoon! Pixie dust!! Take care...and I hope it doesn't get that bad!!

OK, thank goodness for the pool safety Pediascribe that Dr. Mike just put up.

Almost horrible thing just happened at the pool. The kids have a friend over. He's a decent sized kid....probably 120 pounds (double Nick)
They are playing nicely and all of a sudden he goes down the inflatable slide.....but instead of SLIDING....he jumps. Well, the slide is inflatable, and 120 pounds coming down on it over the concrete.....well, the air squishes out and bone meets concrete. (I know, b/c my sized body can't do the slide without hitting the concrete a little) Well, this was MORE than a little. He WHACKED it. Then fell in the pool, took a couple of strokes and then went face down in the water. And didn't move. I yelled to KT....GO IN AND GET THE PHONE. (I have my cell phone on me, but it'd be easier to have the home phone) I run to the ladder and grab his arm, but am thinking "God is gonna have to give me strength to get this kid out of the pool b/c no way I can do it on my own." Just then he looks up but is completely disoriented. I'm yelling at him "JOSH, GRAB MY HAND" Finally he grabs it and I help him up the ladder (not knowing at first if he could even WALK!!!) (sigh) I led him over to the lounger and he sat there somewhat dazed and like the breath was knocked out of him. Finally...15 minutes later and he's back in the pool A bit more reserved and quiet, but swimming around and seems ok. YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the kid who freaks me out as it is b/c he'll knock on the door and I'll go around the corner and he has his face pressed against the side light looking into the house. Just creepy to me. Plus he's double my kids weight and athletic and he's always challenging the kids to games and then tromping them. Nick is always asking for him to come over, and finally today I broke down and said Ok, after acting classes, ONE HOUR in the pool. (sigh)

Thank heavens he was okay! Wow. Are we going to get rid of all this bad luck pretty soon???
That kid sounds like Jay's sister's son. He was always mammoth compared to my kids and he delighted in beating them at every game. Drove me nuts, but it never seemed to bother the kids, so I didn't say anything. He's nearly 3 years older than Jordan, so that put a huge spread between he and Jared. But I knew someday my kids would get smart enough to defend themselves, and they did.
Next time you go to the door and his face is in the glass, smack it with your hand. That ought to stop him. Or stick your face up there too....

Pam, I was just watching the news about southern NM. They didn't show El Paso, but it looks bad down there. Stay safe, will pray that you don't get flooded.

Pam,

Hope you guys were able to stay put tonight. Praying for your safety. :)

Flooding in El Paso...excitment in OH pool....and I thought my day was exciting....Matt got his drivers license.

Kikipug, be on Jeep alert. That is one good thing about driving a big Jeep, there is no other one like it in town. Let me know if you see anything out of the ordinary, like someone in the Jeep besides Matt. :scared1:

The Morning TOP - :sunny: Good Morning All and...

Pixie Dust for everybody - Vigil's Dad, Stacey's Pappy, Maria's FIL, Sams Sis, the Galle Family, all those facing flooding, and heat waves, and the path of Chris.....oh my gosh, this is depressing.....

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Wednesday!

Continued prayers for all that need them.

Congrats to Matt on getting his driver's liscense. Maybe it won't rain as much when Matt drives the Jeep. :drive:

Well here is my report from very wet, soggy El Paso. We got very lucky in that the second storm that was moving our direction missed us last night. The river did go down and we had no more significant rainfall. We still have standing water in our backyard. Charley dug a trench out to the street to get rid of the water and used an old water pump to help pump the water out. We had things packed and ready to go if we needed to since we live so close to the river. Thank goodness it didn't come to that. Still don't know if the freeway to the other side of town is open this morning. I had already decided to take the day off of work. Have to get my mom back to the airport and then the kids have physical appointments this afternoon. I hope we can get across town to the airport.

Charley is taking Dale to the high school this morning. We decided we really didn't want him driving until we knew exactly what the conditions are like out there.

Well, take care everyone.

Congrats to Matt!!

I'll be on the lookout... but I'm sure you have nothing to worry about... he's a good kid. (I know, I know... its the OTHER kids that we have to worry about.)

Last night officially started football/cheer season... I have a love/hate relationship with the whole thing. I LOVE that Ray and the kids are so into it... I HATE that we don't have dinner as a complete family any weeknight between now and October 31... (I know- that's an all year thing for some of you... so I probably shouldn't complain...). I refuse to sit through all of Christopher's practices like the other parents... Ray is coaching on the next field over... if anything happens... he's right there.

So, last night, I had the house to myself for 3 hours... which I spent WORKING from home, and on a conference call... yeah... THAT's "ME time". (Insert sarcasm here...)

Maybe tonight I'll actually get back out on my bike... if the heat doesn't kill me first. (Better watch out for that jeep while I'm out there!!!)

Glad to hear that no one has been flooded out!!!

Whew. I think I have all my ducks in a row. Appointments rearranged, as caught up at the shop as I can be, and things ready around here for school. I guess I can go ahead and leave town.
I had to go and make a fool of myself at the dentist's office. I was explaining why I wouldn't be back to get my new teeth for a few weeks and all of a sudden, just burst out crying. I guess it was bound to happen. Then the nurse cried, and even the dentist got teary. Way to go, Stacey!

Hi all!! I just thought I'd drop by. It was recently pointed out that I have the top number of posts on our DVC Member cruise thread. So, if I'm a blabbermouth, I might as well post on the official blabbermouth thread, right?

Besides, I have a lot of catching up to do here before I'm even close to being in the running as one of the top posters. So, I just might hang around here once and a while.

We are considering joining your group in 2008. I know a couple people who sailed this past May (hi Mary & Mark and Karen) with this group and have said it's a great group to be a part of...so here we are.

The only cruise we've done is the DVC Member Cruise last September. We're booked on the one this upcoming October, as well. We've dreamed for years of doing a 7 day -- so, this looks like it could our chance.

June, 2008, it will by me & my DH Gary, along with our DS13 Cameron (Oh My, I just realized he'll be a teenager :scared: ) as well as our DS8 Walker. We live in a suburb of Chicago -- not far from Mark & Mary.

I look forward to getting to know you.

Well, since Cindy introduced herself, I might as well say HI to the blabbermouths too!! We're also going on the DVC member cruise in October, and thinking about this cruise in 2008.

In June '08, my DH Chris will have just turned 41, I'll be 38. We have 2 daughters - Emily will be 6 and Madison will have just turned 4. We live here in central FL in St. Petersburg (only 1.5 hrs to WDW).

We really think that this would be a fun group to cruise with and should be fun to passing the time until 06/08.
