Speaking of little girls, DianaLyn, it sure has been fun watching your daughters "grow" on the Boards! (through their pictures in your sig)

Thanks for the warning!

Well, OBVIOUSLY it isn't YOU that makes things warm and sunny. It was grey and cloudy when you were here. If you were Mr. Warm and Sunny, you would have brought the sunshine to Ohio.

Either that or I, as Mrs. Dark and Gloomy, am much more powerful than you! :lmao: :rotfl2:

Hey Karen - time to change your signature! :)

Final note on Trick or Treat - this year we also had "Trick or Treat for UNICEF".......A Good Cause....says she....

A Response to Mr. Bah Humbug!!!!

"Take the shopping. You spend 20 minutes cruising up and down the parking aisles, ....blah - blah - blah....." Holiday suggestion....Park in the first spot ages away from the mall and WALK - it is good for the heart...

"Then, when you get inside, blah - blah - blah....." Holiday suggestion - shop on line and then go to the stores to browse.....much less stree....

"Then there's the set-up. The tree alone takes an entire afternoon. blah- blah" Well, our family tree takes 3 days and we have 3 trees because we do "love spending that time with family as we listen to Christmas music and relive the memories of holidays past".....Holiday suggestion - WORKOUT - it replaces Yoga.....And each ornament is special

"What about decorating the rest of the house? blah-blah-blah" Holiday Suggestion - Keep the indoor decorations that are precious and donate the others to a good cause, like cancer foundation, for a charity sale....

"And outside lights? Well, let's just say I don't mix well with ice and ladders." Holiday Suggestion - move to Florida - we don't have ice...or not often...

Now as for Christmas at Disney - I completely concur.........Disney does decorating to a "T". And a Christmas Cruise - wow....but not without my own tree, indoor decorations, outside decorations, cards, lights and all those memories. Did I mention all my Christmas have been presents....

And "I enjoy the holidays. Really, I do."

Irene.

Later... :wave2:

Quoting Irene with responses:

"A Response to Mr. Bah Humbug!!!!"--you must not have spent enough time with us on the double scoop or you'd know this is the farthest thing from the truth

"Holiday suggestion....Park in the first spot ages away from the mall and WALK blah blah blah"---Do me a favor. Try this with two little kids in tow in icy slush with people flying around the corners trying to get THEIR perfect spot. Then get back to me on how great it is for your heart. I don't think my heart skipping beats with near misses can be all that "good" for it. Hedgehogs don't count for this experiment.

"Holiday suggestion - shop on line and then go to the stores to browse....blah blah blah"---how about we're trying to keep to a better budget and aren't so excited about spending an extra $7.95 for every gift. Besides, with as cheap and crappy as stuff is made now-a-days I'm sometimes hesitant to buy something online only to have to ship it back (at my cost) because I paid $$$ for *#@^. In that case I'd be out $16 and still wouldn't have a gift!

"Well, our family tree takes 3 days and we have 3 trees because we do"--your choice. We'd never choose that. Besides, with an indoor cat the only room we can close off would look stupid with three trees in it.

"Holiday suggestion - WORKOUT - it replaces Yoga.....And each ornament is special"---&#^!@ right on that one. We PACK our tree with ornaments and EACH AND EVERY one has a story. We do not have one single ornament on our tree that is a mass produced sphere. I even have some that hung on the tree that was at my mom's baby shower for me. A little babe in a 1/2 walnut shell hung with a ribbon. Oh, and then there's the ones of the kids' footprints from their first Christmas that I laminated. Each year we get those out and compare them to the size of their feet now. I'm sorry, I'm still not seeing how Mike's statement of decorating the tree, sharing family memories and listening to Christmas music causes you to call him a Mr. Bah Humbug......???? :confused3

""Holiday Suggestion - Keep the indoor decorations that are precious and donate the others to a good cause, like cancer foundation, blah blah blah...."---huh? Who said we were hoarding mass quantities of unused Christmas decorations in our basement? We don't have extras to donate to any good cause. Because we don't have many at all. The ones we have, we pretty much put out....some handmade cross stitch Christmas pictures, the nativity, the stocking holders.....but there aren't many.

"Holiday Suggestion - move to Florida - we don't have ice...blah blah blah...." Holiday Suggestion. Give me a lot of money to pay off my debts and supply Mike with a salary and we'll move down there in a heartbeat. We aren't staying in Ohio because we love ice and snow. No, I take that back. We wouldn't move down in a heartbeat. One of the big things keeping us here is FAMILY and I wouldn't want to move that far away....not yet.

"And a Christmas Cruise - wow....but not without my own tree, indoor decorations, outside decorations, cards, lights and all those memories."---The Christmas cruise year we left our house on December 16th. We did not get home until December 31st. Pray tell me where would be the sense in going all out with holiday decorations? We weren't even HOME for 9 days before Christmas and 7 days after! And I must say I DID have memories that Christmas....and I now have many more and many of those start with "do you remember the year we did the Christmas cruise......"

I believe it says in the Bible that where your time, talent and treasure are, there also is your heart. We prefer to put our time, talent and treasure in making family memories without falling into a commercialized trap or by having to "keep up with the Jonses."

And "I enjoy the holidays. Really, I do." Good, me too. In my simple, anti-clutter, leave out the things that won't have eternal value kinda way.

Btw, Mike has worked very hard for his degrees. That would be DOCTOR Bah Humbug. :)

:confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

cool a U TOP shared with Irene, and my husband, Scrooge. :lmao:

I couldn't agree with this more. The year we did the Christmas cruise was one of our best Christmas' ever. We did very little decorating at home but enjoyed our time on the ship with all our great 10 day friends. The ornament exchange we did was a real highlight for me as was Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. One of the best gifts we've ever given each other and I'm thrilled to have shared it with so many DIS friends!

Whoa...hold on a second....trying to think back (b/c it seems like I've known Mark and Mary FOREVER)....but wasn't the 10 day the first time we met in real life?

Oh my....I wouldn't trade that cruise for anything. I may not have put up a Christmas tree, but I met some of my dearest friends on that cruise!!!

Oh man--I've heard about people stalking other people here on the DIS! I didn't realize I was being stalked too! :lmao:

I think we surprised many of the SSMC06 cruisers who hadn't seen the girls since last year when Julia was only 11 months old and not even walking and Emma had just turned 2. This year at 3 and 2 they were quite different (that's the understatement of the year).

And I have to admit guys--I never did get tired of hearing how big they got and how small I got.

It sure was! Our online meeting was June 23, 2003 and our first face to face meeting was December 18, 2004. We got some great presents that year in the friendships we made!

So, you DVC cruisers had a wedding shower? That's sweet!

And a bachelor party. The girls thought it was boring, since we were watching the World Series game, but to guys baseball and beer is our idea of a great party!

Actually the girls gathering was a bachlorette party - not a wedding shower. We were supposed to me up on deck 9 by the pool but it was a little cool out. So we started in Cove Cafe but then there were too many of us, so we moved to the Goofy pool to join our die-hard Tiger fan watch the game while we mingled by the bar. We then headed down to Diversions but it was a little too smokey in there so we ended up in the Promonade Lounge. We got the large sofa area and a bunch of chairs. One of the chairs was kind of left in the middle and we realized it had a light shining on it so it became the hot seat. The bride to be would call someone into the hot seat, ask them how long they had been married and what advice they would give. At one point Christian walked by and we got him to come over. We asked if he would give us a dance but he wouldn't, but he did sit in the hot seat and gave some advice on being married 1 1/2 years. Then the guys invaded and they too made it into the hot seat.

The connection between Chris and Mike is very cool. Someone had brought a journal (from our Cafepress selection) and asked everyone to write some advice to the bride and groom in it. What Mike said at 11:45 at night was almost word for word what Chris had written at 9:30.

I left at Midnight but I hear the party didn't break up until 1:30 or so.
