Spoke with Sam about the "do-over cruise". He is game in 2008 as long as it is not too late in June....And it will be our 30th Anniversary - gasp

I think the date everyone's looking at is 6/7/2008. WOW!! We'll have LOTS of celebrations on board - High School Graduations; many birthdays (including a 50th - WooHoo!!); Anniversaries - 15th & 30th :woohoo: Awesome!! Yep! Definitely requires a DO-OVER!!!

That date might be alright with us. And then we could do WDW before DCL.

I just know that we've NEVER seen crowds at WDW like we did from June 3rd to June 11th. Ah, the joys of being able to travel off-peak has us SPOILED! :)

COOL, U TOP!!

Wow, a lot was going on this weekend. Ang, I know all about scary storms. Hope everything gets back to normal quickly. It's quiet around here. DS is at church camp until Friday evening. DH took a week's vacation, but is stuck painting/fixing up our church's parsonage. Our pastor of 8 years got moved to a different church, moved out on Sunday and the new pastor is moving in on Friday. DH hates to paint, and really didn't want to use vacation for this, but he's chairman of the trustees. After dropping of DS yesterday we had the whole 'do we want to cruise again or buy some land or an RV for retirement' conversation. Even though we have at least 15 years before retirement, we are seriously thinking of where we want to retire, or if we want to get a big ole honkin' motorhome and just move as the weather changes. We agreed to cruise at least one more time (that's what we said for the double scoop cruise) in 2008 for our 15th anniversary and Larry's 50th birthday. Happy Monday, everyone.

Boy does this sound familiar. We joined a very small church about 8 years ago. As soon as they found out that Kevin is a Contractor, it was all over. He was an "elder" in the blink of an eye, and it didn't take long before they talked him into heading the properties committee. For several years, he was over there working several Saturdays a month, and going to meetings at least once a week. I don't have a problem with being involved in a church, but he still had a young daughter that needed his attention too. We sort of backed out of this church last year, and will be looking for a larger congregation to join!

We've had the retirement discussion too. Buying land, or maybe an RV. Somehow, we keep choosing to cruise!

And that's right, we should all get referral credits from DCL!

OK, fess up! That's really the reason you home school, isn't it? ;)

Angie, that was quite a day you had! Were you in the house when it was hit? Boy, I hope not.

We were near a lightning strike (maybe 200 ft), with Stacey and gang, last August in DTD. Talk about pure panic! Three of the kids started running in the opposite direction of the strike, which was into the open area. That's when the Moms really started to panic.

Uh....one of them. I have told Mike "If I ever consider stopping homeschooling, please remind me what Disney is like at peak season."

So, yes. I cannot deny that is a big factor for us.

The #1 reason being we live in an awful school district and don't have a good private school close.

That's what I was thinking - WDW before the cruise!! I think it was also pretty hot when you were there too, wasn't it? Crowds + heat = :crowded: :crazy2: (that's the best I could come up with!!!! :rotfl2: )

Attendance has been WAY up at the parks. I remember when September/October was a GREAT time to go - no crowds. Not the case any longer. Guess the word got out!! I don't know *when* is a good time to go anymore!!

Yes, we were home. The girls were watching a movie. They FLEW off of the sofa & in to the kitchen where I was. I swear I saw a flash of light go across the house. I must admit that I was pretty darn shaken too. We immediately went to the attic to make sure we didn't see any fires. We could definitely smell an electrical burn after it happened.

I can't even imagine being outside. How scary!

Common theme - my passporter, dated as it is, has gone to a good home...a potential future cruiser....
I donated my Passporter to the library. That way if I want to refer to something, I know exactly where to find it.

That's what we've decided for now. Just keep cruising, cruising; just keep cruising. A good friend of mine and her husband have been full-timing in their rv for over a year, now. They owned a campground in the Smokies for 6 years, then sold it and bought a motorhome. I haven't talked to her for several years except an occasional e-mail. She's joining me on a girls' cruise next year, so I'll get the scoop on full-timing it. Younger DD is getting married in Gatlinburg TN next year. We might scope out the land prices in that area; not Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, but somewhere in that region of TN.

What to do, what to do. We did NOT like going to WDW in June. And we'd want to combine DCL and WDW, I'm sure. We may be cruising with Maria. :earseek:

OM -- you know you have to cruise in June, because that is when all of us stalkers are cruising. Anyway, Ashley already thinks KT is cruising with her. There is no way we can cruise in May because of High School Graduation and also Ashley's middle school graduation will more than likely be in late May.

Sandi,

I don't know a thing about the land prices in that area, but I do know that would be a GREAT place to live!! Beautiful country. :thumbsup2

I don't think it was ever attached to studs in the 1st place. It's not so much he can't do it but doesn't want to!!! That's the aggravating part. Now, give that man any piece of electronics or electrical equipment & it'll be done yesterday!

Not real hard! Just use screws and attach them to the studs!!! :thumbsup2

Besides, that only works if the studs are where they are supposed to be, which in our case, they are not. This involved thick wood, long enough to attach to the studs, and with holes in them to set the bars.
As handy as Jay is, he enlisted the help of our cabinet-making renter.

I don't think I'll ever forget that. It was the loudest, scariest noise I think I've ever heard......and all of us Moms screaming at the kids was awfully loud, too!!
