Our schools go until early to mid-June.
Normally, K is in the regular elementary schools. But Erin missed the cut-off for K by 11 days, so that wasn't an option for us. She's been with kids up to a year older than her since she was 2 and completed pre-k last year. So we had her do private Kindergarten in her daycare. It's state-accredited, which was great. And because the local schools actually have a different cut-off for 1st grade (Dec 1, as opposed to Oct 1), she can start that in the fall.
I was actually very happy with her not doing K in the elementary school because it's half-day (and really only about 3 hours), and she's used to full-day school. So it worked out well for us.
Interestingly, the schools where I live have two elementary schools. One, called the Early Childhood Development Center, is pre-k through 1st grade. Then they go to another school for 2nd through 5th. So Erin will only be in the first school for one year. Oh well...
