5/22/2008 Wonder Cruise!

He had to go right to a company conference in West Palm for 4 days and tried his hardest to "man" up the story but hard to do with that scenario. What? The wild, rabid horse was chasing him?????:lmao:

:rotfl: That is so funny. I am sitting here giggling and the others in the office are probably wondering what is wrong with me!!

:lmao: Jumping in and laughing here because I don't think Dan even KNOWS about the DISboards. He doesn't even know he has a fish extender but we'll play for him. His DD5, my niece, will get a huge kick out of it.

Well that is ok...we wont hold that against him! I will just use their real names. :)

EXCELLENT news for my family! DH is the most accident/injury prone person you've ever met. It's the joke of the family (though others in his family have come up with some doozies, too. Not mentioning names 'cuz they're cruising with us!)

For example....Three years ago, the day we got off The Magic, we went to Downtown Disney. While I shopped, DH took DD(then 3) on the little Carousel there. Minutes later a lady rushes into the store yelling my name and to come quick because someone in my family just got hurt. GUESS WHO.... not the kid, but DH ....he fell backwards off the carousel and tore up his knee requiring an ambulance ride to Celebration Hospital. :sad2:

She left a lot out! That's my DB she's referring to. When she married my brother I'm sure she had no idea that he's in a life threating situation at least 10 times a year. It's a family trait.
On the last cruise he couldn't walk becuase he threw his back out. Which was excellent timing since they were traveling with a baby. Oh, and then Norwalk hit him.
And at Sea World last week, the kids followed in his footsteps. Both of my neices fell and got hurt. I don't know how Donna keeps her sanity.

Did I mention I had to cancel my cruise last year because I ended up in ICU instead? Yeah, crazy virus attacked my bone marrow and tried to kill me. SO I postponed the cruise until a week after I was released from the hospital. Hey, at least I was skinny for that cruise. :rotfl: :rotfl2:

So I agree with Donna....
GLAD TO HAVE SOME DOCTORS ONBOARD.
I hope we didn't scare you away :rotfl2:

Hey Rachel....I see you are online.....What is your family wearing for Pirate Night? I still cant make up my mind if we are taking something for Pirate night. If it is the same night as Dress Up night, then we are not doing the Pirate thing this time. But if it is a different night, I would like to dress up.....decisions, decisions!!!

Oh I'm definitely opting for Pirate attire instead of dress up. But we're not going nuts with it this time. The first time we did the full scale pirate outfits, boots and all. I'm wearing a red and white striped shirt, black stretch capris, and skull cap. Colby is just wearing his Pirates of the Caribbean shirt. The girls have matching skull shirts with sparkles or something. And the guys have vests from the last cruise.

Ok...I just called DCL and was told that most people dont even wear pirate clothes to dinner on the short cruises!! Is this true? I have never been on a 3 night cruise and am used to the whole ship dressing up. She said that it was casual dress night 1 and 3 and Pirate on night 2. If you wanted to dress up a little more that would be on night 3. Now my family is probably gonna be mad cause I got us dressing up more for the 3rd night. Guess I will spend tonight refiguring our outfits!

Ok, so I'm still laughing at MY OWN STORY... and then Rachel's response. It is an amusing family. But I'm just the in-law so I'm the NORMAL one! :thumbsup2

Pam -

I say go with whatever you want. You mentioned you wanted a formal pic, so go for it. We have Palo ressies for the last night (though I still hate missing a restaurant) so we'll be a bit dressy. And for Nassua night we all have some "mild" Pirate accessories that we'll wear. We just don't need formal pics right now but perhaps will focus on some sort of fun pic on Castaway... like our last cruise when we donned Santa hats, in bathing suits, on the beach. Those made great XMas cards - and the hats got borrowed by many fellow cruisers that day. Of course, this is May and a bit too soon for that, but no doubt we'll come up with something else (Rachel, start thinking).

OMG, I just realized our thread is on page 30!! Wow... how far we've come!

And doing the 2 week dance! Woo Hoo! :dance3:
It's getting hot down here folks... due to hit low 90s this weekend.:cool1:

You should ask that on the dis board. I am 100% sure that the people on the boards know more than the phone receptionist. :rotfl:
I'm sure Barb will know, she's done the 3 night Wonder a few times. What is she up to now these days? a gazillion ? qua-billion? :confused3 I'm sure she'll have some insight.

12 days until we leave. I had big plans on dropping a few pounds first so my summer clothes fit. But apparently the pounds don't melt off by wishing them away. DAMMIT !!!:sad2:
So I'll be one that can't breath in my shorts.

I have been on Disney cruises before but this time I feel like a first time cruiser for some reason. I think I am going to go ahead and try to quickly put together some pirate clothes. May just be tshirts, but I still have eye patches and bandanas from past cruises. We will dress up for the last night. I want the family photo since it is our first family cruise and may be the last one before I kick the kids out!!!

I will be right there with you. I didnt buy anything new for myself so I will be squeezing into shorts that may pop a button!!! :rotfl:

See ya'll soon!!!

So I'll be one that can't breath in my shorts.

I'll join you and Pam. So, we'll be the ones at the wine gathering slightly blue from a lack of oxygen, but still sipping away!:drinking1

I didn't do myself any favors this week. A DISer from the Creative Board made me the cutest Dr. Seuss Hershey bar wrappers - and nugget size wrappers of the Cat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 - for Teacher Appreciation Week. I've been making up bags of personalized wrappers and nuggets for all of DD's teachers. Well, you know how it goes when you're up late at night wrapping Hershey Nuggets. One for teacher bag, one for me....one for teacher, OH HECK, TWO FOR ME! :rotfl:

Got our FE from eBay :thumbsup2

But its tinny

So, not all come at once:tiptoe:

Got ours on ebay, too, from GradysMommy. It isn't that big either, but it is darn cute. She did a great job customizing. I guess for all the really big presents (the rolex watches, Dom champagne, etc), they can just be hand delivered! :lmao:

Donna...funny you should mention that you are wrapping candy bars because that is what I will be doing tomorrow. I had some made for both of my daughters graduation. Here is what Leissa's looks like.....

Since tomorrow is my birthday and everyone is going to be gone....I might be wrapping one and eating one.....wrapping one and eating one.....Hersheys for my birthday....yummy!!! I for sure wont be fitting in any shorts then:rotfl:

We have been on all the length cruises from 3 nights to 14....YES, people dress up like Pirates on the 3 nighter. I would say A LOT becuase most don't want to deal with formal wear. I would imagine you will see more pirates then glamor. ALSO, you are all dressed up in a nice dress and then how do you sport that bandana they give you? So my two cents is Pirating is very acceptable. If you want to do both tho, why not dress up for dinner then change for the pirate party?

Greetings from paradise.

First of all, happy birthday Pam, all the best to you and may all your dreams come true.

Donna, your fishextender looks awesome, really great, it is wonderful.

I had a lot of reading to do, and you see, we were able to log in. But most of all, it is just heavenly beautyful here on Captiva Island, we are at the very north end, at the South Seas Resort, it is just wonderful, today we were on a sunset cruise and we have seen dolphins, manatees (is this spelled right), sting rays, lots of beautyful big birds, but I do not know their names in english. DD has the time of her life, she swims all day long, but she is a bit on the shy side, because it is hard for her to communicate. Normally she is the one talking to everybody but here all the people speak english, even Mami and Papi. But we try our best to help her communicating and today on a cruise a boy immediatly fell for her, tried to talk to her, play with her and after we were on land again, he picked a beautiful flower and gave it to her, sooooooooooo sweet, then even she melted.

Luckily we adapted to the time difference, first day we got up at 3am, second at 6am and today at 8am.

So we enjoy now 4 more days in paradies, then we drive further north before entering the WORLD and then a few more days until we meet you all. Hey, the chocolate is safe in the fridge - so far  , yesterday, my husband lay hand on this treasure and in the last second I could keep him from destroying all your hopes for Swiss chocolate. But the watches (Rolex) stayed home, sorry guys.

Josh and Melissa, how are you keeping up, all the best for the two of you
