5/15/2011 - Disney Dream 4nt Bahamas - May 15, 2011

We just changed our pre-cruise plans and have decided to go to Universal IOA for a day before the cruise... my kids are anxious to see the Harry Potter land. I moved our DVC ressie to the 5 days after the cruise instead, and I think we'll also be able to hit up the first Star Wars weekend with that. Getting VERY excited here!

Have not heard anything about SWW for next year yet. There was a rumor floating that they may not have them in 2011 due to Star Tours being down for rehab. I will be major time bummed out if they dont have them.

Hello Everyone !!

Count us in too !!! We are booked on a back to back --- Starting with the 3 day (May 12---inside cabin) and then this 4 day with a outside cabin---had to experience the inside virtual porthole on the first leg of our Dream cruise. This will be our 3rd and 4th Disney cruise with our last cruise being in the Med on the Magic this past May.
My Husband can't wait to ride the Aqua Duck !!! :yay::yay:

Okay so I have booked 24 of us on this cruise!!!!
First Disney Cruise for us all!!! So looking forward to this and all the great tips from all the DISers! We are from Toronto Ontario.

Welcome Aboard!!
We're from Toronto too!
Is it all family?
Any kiddies?
Guess we'll be able to see you all coming... you'll be the guided tour group! ;)

All family:
Grandma
2 X mothers, 1 aunt, uncle
Myself, Husband, Sister, 4 Cousins (20's)
1 older teen (17)
4 (9-11)
3(3-4)
1 infant....
I think I missed a cabin......????
Are you flying out of Toronto? When are you booking your flights? I want to go out of BUF....but we'll see.

Wow... that is a huge group! LOL

It really depends on if the prices drop in Buffalo for flights. Right now, some flights are cheaper out of TO! Worried that the prices will not drop much due to the merger of Air Tran and Southwest = no competition

I have a 6 yr old girl and we are doing a B2B. Are you staying at Disney before or after?

Suzanne

Good Morning Everyone, hope everybody has a great day.. I need to spend more time posting on this board, I have spent many many days on the ssmc11for Sept. board, and not devoted enough here. My appologies. We booked this cruise while on the ssmc10 in Sept. and are excited because the only places we have been are to cc on the ssmc's ( disney vacation club cruises).

So for those veterens out there, ideas for Nasau..

Finally booked our airfare today!! :cool1: And thank YOU Southwest for not only reinstating the nonstop flights, but making them at the perfect time AND so cheap. :woohoo:

I feel so giddy; this really makes it seem like it's close. Well, okay, 7 months out, but that feels like practically tomorrow when you've been booked almost a year already! ;)

Thanks for the heads up on SW... I didn't realize they released dates to June since they just released dates recently.

I booked us at the Wanna Get Away fare for our dates. I don't think the Ding fare is going to get us that much lower but I'll keep an eye out for it as we get closer. I guess that means we're committed to my planned itinerary!

I know, I'm so used to that process of hunting and checking for lowered rates with SW, that I have been shocked out how low the initial release price has been lately. That price is about as good as I've ever seen it for our area. I did notice that when they released the last batch through April, those started out low as well, but a week later I saw that they'd jumped about $40.

But I did "splurge" on the Early Bird check-in since we'll be on the cruise the second leg. I still consider it a bargain after avoiding baggage fees ;)

Yay! Decided to come home on the 23rd of May and got roundtrip airfare for $199/ each.
Have booked a studio @ AKV Jambo house for 3 nights pre-cruise... however still debating on staying at port hotel night before.
Need to book one night post cruise too... may also be DVC ...
How is everyone else doing?
Any interest in FE yet?
Suzanne

Thanks for the heads up on SW- I just scored our flights for $89 each way! Our flight home (5/26) doesn't leave MCO until 8:25, so we'll get in a full day at the world! We're flying in the 14th and planning on staying at the Hyatt Regency in the airport. Anyone else planning on doing the same?

Oh yay! I'm so glad to hear everyone is scoring great airfare! I was worrying when I heard how high rates at Christmas are, wondering if we were heading back into rate hikes again. But guess not yet anyway!

As of yesterday we were at the 7 months mark for the start of our vacation! I think that deserves a banana dance  We're going in early, leaving here on the 11th. We'll be staying at CR. First time, so very excited!

Tigger2on, I just love the look of AKL (and the food, ohhmmmm)! I definitely want to stay there some day. On a trip a few years back we had decided to save our money and give a value a try. But this great deal on AKL came out, and I kept saying to DH, "It's a very good price if you want to try AKL. We've never seen it, but it's supposed to be lovely. Are you SURE you don't want to try it?" I must have checked with him a zillion times. But he kept saying it was only a few nights so we should just stick with the value. Well, our first night of the trip we had reservations at Boma. As we drove up, past the lovely grounds, came around the bend and saw the hotel the first time, the first words out of DH's mouth were, "Now why aren't we staying here?" I wonder if he knows how close I was to hitting him with my purse :rotfl:

Did anyone else read the rumored opening date for Star Tours to be 5/15/11? Which, if true, I assume the time I'm there they'd be having the previews for AP holders. Which is just sooooo typical ;) On our trip in 2006, they were doing preview rides for Everest and on our trip in 2008 they were doing preview rides for Toy Story. And we are, of course, not AP people. So there you go...if you are an AP holder and want a new ride to start its previews, send me to WDW. Apparently I make these things happen :rolleyes1

We have actually stayed at AKV numerous times as the kids love the kidani pool. I don't want to do any parks so I figured, I better go somewhere that will keep Madigan happy. We added the dining plan so all meals are covered! Yay!
Also I was able to save some points and scored a Value Studio for the 3 of us. Hoping for either a GREAT pool view or the Savannah view I got last year with the kids :)

I heard May 16 for Star Tours- but either way we're close!

Hello fellow shipmates! Just found this board after booking our cruise a couple weeks ago and wanted to join all the excitement.

This will be our first cruise and Wow, it gets to be on the new DIS "Dream!" Originally wanted to go during April vacation, but quickly learned how late we were to book anything. The 4 night cruise was already sold out and I thought a 3 night cruise would go by way too fast. With another commitment in June, this cruise worked out well for us and the pricing was still reasonable. Our DD will be celebrating her 12th b'day during the cruise.
Our TA was very patient with all my cruise date requests. She said the month of May is a great month for cruising weather. Let's keep our fingers crossed!
Will post our stateroom details soon.

Welcome aboard!
I too am celebrating a birthday onboard... My 40TH! But sooo wish i was 12 again to go to those fantastic clubs!
Looking forward to getting to know you!!

Thanks. Which day of the cruise are you celebrating your special day? What a great way to spend it! The biggest thing our daughter is looking forward to, is getting her breakfast served in bed by room service.
Looking forward to getting to know you too!

May 16... Nassau Day!
Going to try to book the Sea Lion excursion and kiss a sea lion to mark the day! LOL
