Hey fellow cruisers !!
How do you think the traffice will be, due to the shuttle
launch !! We will be leaving POFQ about 9:00 in the AM.
So, the traffice shouldn't be too bad yet, should it?
I have never been to a shuttle launch before (who has?)
So, I don't know, do people get there way early, and where
do they hang out at waiting for the launch?

Hi there!

Welcome to our newest Cruise Mates!! My family is staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort before the cruise too! (DH, DS 11, DD 9 and Me)

The shuttle launch is scheduled for 3:50pm. I've never been to one (never been to Florida before) but what I've been told is that as long as you leave in the morning and early afternoon (before 1:00pm) traffic shouldn't be too much of a problem. 1:00pm is kind of pushing it...and any later will put you in a big traffic mess.

We plan to leave the CBR around 9:00am and head to the Port (with maybe a brief detour to the Ron John Surf Shop nearby in Cocoa Beach first, just for fun)!

We'll be flying out to Florida in exactly 30 days from today for our WDW/Dinsey Cruise vacation!!! I can't believe what started out as a 300+ countdown will be down in the in 20's tomorrow!!!!

It's almost time to start packing!!

I was told that the transfers to and from resorts are $60 per person and that transfers to and from the airport are free. As for a rental car, budget rental car is on Disney Property and supposed to be convenient but I've never used them, we've always used Enterprise. I will still be checking and post again.

We are from the Virginia Beach area and will be getting into Orlando airport around 6:20 on Saturday night

FIVE more Sundays and we'll all be on the ship!!!

We are staying at Caribbean Beach Resort too, DS 9 and I. I plan to leave around 9-930 am from CBR and driving over in our Explorer to the port. We should get there around 10-1030am. I think thats when they open up the parking.

Maybe we'll all end up driving over around the same time! We'll wave to ya'll

I KNOW the traffic will be bad around the cape area..I just don't know what time they will start getting there for the 350pm lift off.

We just caught the Travel Channel show on DCL about an hour or so ago! We've seen it a hundred times, but it was so EXCITING to watch it and now that we'll be there in 5 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the new cruisers!!! I think we are going to have PERFECT weather for our cruise!! I really think MAY is a great time to cruise!

PHEW! Booked a room at the Cocoa Beach Days Inn. It's only 12 miles from the port so I feel MUCH better now. That's what I get for trusting in the last minute. Also, apparently there is some sort of convention going on by the MCO so a lot of the airport hotels are booked as well.

Here's the upside of booking the "Days Inn" ...I will be THAT much more excited by my accomodations on the ship! YEAY!

Just wanted to share my relief!

Yay...I know what you mean about freaking out about the room. I was only able to get a room at the Holiday Inn and it would have been a kids suite which totally would not have worked for us. It only has a queen sized bed and a set of bunkbeds. My 14 year old son is taller than me and would not have gotten any rest and would have started the trip off worn down...not fun. I feel ok about staying at the cb but am concerned about the traffic that day...on the flip side, we are going to have one of the best views of the shuttle.

Hey MILLER2470, just wanted to say hi to our fellow Virginians. We are also from Virginia. We are in Louisa, which is located between Charlottesville & Richmond. We are excited! This is our 3rd cruise. Maybe we will see you all there!

Hey 2timecruiser! I know exactly where you are...thats only about maybe an hour and a half away from us...we are right in the Norfolk, Virginia Beach are. In fact, we can get to the ocean front in less than 15-20 minutes.
Glad to see some fellow Virginians onboard. We've never been on a cruise before and can't wait!!! Been to Disney 13 times though!
Hopefully we'll see you there.

Speaking of "seeing you all soon" Do we have a plan? Do you want to exchange more info about ourselves so we know each other a little better when we meet? I could do up a cute "questionnaire" and we could play a game or something. Just throwing out ideas.

How exciting to have your docs I can't wait for ours to come. Who did you guys book through and did they come from disney or a TA?

We booked through Dreams Unlimited. This is the 1st time we have used them. We were afraid we would have to wait longer for our docs. I was so excited when I saw UPS drive up. I even called my husband at work to share the wonderful news with him!

We booked directly through Disney! So...I guess it doesn't matter if you booked through a TA or Disney!!!

Only 25 days until we leave...yippee!!

Have you guys started to pack anything yet? I have a big basket we're calling the cruise basket and it is overflowing all over my bedroom. I'm really starting to dread packing for all five of us and hoping we don't forget anything. oh whoa is me right? I'm so psyched
