I have mixed emotions about it. I really like the original. I watch it just about everyday. And Jack Lord, "Steve"?

It was nice to see James Marsters on TV again though.

I only watched the first few minutes.....just can't replace Jack Lord and those blue, blue eyes!! :rotfl:

:happytv:

Me to DH: Jack Lord was old when we were little kids and he's been dead a while now. Was he supposed to have had that kid post-retirement?

DH: You have to suspend disbelief.

Me: Let me see that iPhone. I want to google when Jack Lord was born because I swear he'd be older than dirt now.

Googling.......

Me: He was born in 1920 and he was on Hawaii Five-0 from about age 48-60. See, I told you he was old when we were kids.

DH: He looked good for his age.

Me: Well, he didn't look good enough to be a NINETY YEAR OLD MAN sitting in that chair just now getting shot. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: Give me that remote. I cannot keep watching this. Couldn't they have at least gotten a Jack Lord lookalike or someone pushing 70 at a minimum?

DH: The new dead older Steve doesn't even look like the new YOUNG Steve. And neither of them look like Jack Lord.

Me: Click.

Our HS band used to play the theme song. I wonder if that will start to happen again. Football games and the theme song from Hawaii Five-O.

I watched it and loved it. I was getting so mad though because everyone was playing in the room so I kept turning up the tv, especially on breaks when they played the theme song! :lmao:

I don't think anybody was really the right age. And Danno with an ex wife and child? :confused3 But in and of itself it was okay. I'll watch it again and see how they go with it.

There's a Marching Band Contest and here's Notre Dame's entry. They showed part of it during the local news last night.

I don't know what it is about Jack Lord ... the eyes, the suit, he's smart? I just know I like watching him! :lovestruc

I fell asleep about half-way through. But I like the cast. I watched the original too, but I don't mind this remake. I'll give it some time. (watching from the DVR will help since I can zip thru commercials too!)

I liked it. I thought the mix of charecters was interesting and I found the action to be nicely paced. My one and only complaint is that they played the McGarrett charecter a bit shallow but I figure they wanted to establish his basic rogue attitude and they'll start to flesh him out as the season progresses.

There were also just one or two convienent plot points but that really seems to be the norm nowadays and it didn't ruin the story line.

ETA: um nobody really thinks that this is supposed to be in a continious time line for real do they. It's a reboot, having the "original" charecters name as the dad was an honor to Jack Lord, nobody is supposed to think it was the original charecter.....at least that's what I took from the interviews.

Exactly! Grace Park has done this before. She plays Kono which used to be a male character just like she played Boomer in the remake of Battlestar Gallactica.

The names are in honor of the past casty but they aren't supposed to be the same individuals as the past cast.

i thought it was pretty good. the characters seemed to work together well. i still love that theme music. to the previous poster, yes, jack lord did have those deep, deep blue eyes!

It's not on Demand..... guess I'm out of luck!! I really wanted to see it too!!

I spent the hour happily drooling so will rewatch for the plot.

I thought the pilot was great! Don't know what that means for the rest of the season but it will definately go in my DVR lineup. I thought the dialog between the characters was well written and pretty funny at times. However, this opinion is coming from someone who has never once seen an episode of the original show. My dad was a big fan of that one and he wasn't sure he was going to be able to watch this one. I need to call him and see what they thought......

Ummm....I have my own take as to why one of them is a girl now. I predict bikinis will make a frequent appearance......for the storyline, of course. :lmao: Yeah, yeah, I get the "tribute" to the original cast and show but I still think he should have been the GRANDSON and not the son. Or at least don't show Jack Lord's character and have him be this whole other guy. (Of course, casting the dearly departed Jack Lord would have been tricky.)

I tried...I really did! I wanted to like it! I graduated from HS with Daniel Dae Kim (Danny Kim back then! LOL) and I really wanted to like a show that he was a part of. I couldn't get into Lost either. :sad2:

I watched H50 for about 10 minutes and then I changed the channel.

I didn't get to see it, but I'll watch it on Saturday when they rerun it. I know that they re-used the theme (yea!), but the compelling question is ... is the title sequence as good as in the original?

That title sequence was the BEST!!!! (If you don't remember it, watch it on YouTube -- goosebumps, I tell you.)

As to marching bands using the theme again, I think that would be great -- it is wonderful song for a band, a percussion showpiece.
