4th Of July Crowd Levels

In terms of the desert parties, it happened May last year. Left a lot of us checking every day.

The MK fireworks aren't as castle-oriented as HEA -- there aren't tons of projections, and they seem to shoot off from more varied angles than the HEA ones do. The July 3-4 fireworks aren't as tied to the castle as HEA is.

Were the parties for 12/30 and 12/31 hard to book at 180? Or did availability last awhile?
And there's always cancellations. I've yet to even book a trip at 180 days, or even the day they've released the dessert parties but always managed to book at least one of them. And yet again, we have one booked for the 30th

I would actually recommend using your evening on the third to grab dinner at one of the Magic Kingdom resorts and watch the MK fireworks from there, instead of going to Disney Springs. Then, you could visit Epcot on 7/4. In this way, you actually get to see both parks' special firework presentations, since Magic Kingdom does fireworks on 7/3 and 7/4 to celebrate Independence Day.

Not bad advice but problem is fiance has a 4 day hopper and we are there 5 days. Don't want to waist a park day ticket when only being there 4-5 hours. To much of a logistical nightmare to change flights or days at this point so we are locked in.

You don't need to use a park day ticket to eat at Contemporary or Polynesian and watch the fireworks from one of those resorts on 7/3. You can arrive and drop your belongings at Animal Kingdom Lodge, and then grab a bus to Magic Kingdom and either walk to the contemporary or hop on the resort monorail from there, all without using a park day. The Magic Kingdom fireworks for 7/3 and 7/4 have minimal projections (mostly shades of Red/Blue and occasional white stars).

I see what your saying, I thought you meant go into MK on the 3rd and then hit one of the resorts for dinner/fireworks after. That's very do-able too.
