4th July at AKL?

We have booked our flights (3rd July) and are now looking at accommodation. We will stay in a villa as usual but quite fancy staying (for the first time) perhaps the first couple of nights at AKL. This would of course be over 4th July which at the moment is flagging up at £464 (pounds) for a deluxe room with savannah view for the 2 nights. The question is - are AP discounts available just now? If not (which appears to be the case if I'm reading it correctly), then does anyone know about possible availability if we were to wait, considering the implications of 4th July celebrations?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

it seems for that amount of money, you should be able to get AKL concierge. You should check (and i think all AKL concierge rooms are deluxe, so you wouldn't lose that). With concierge you'd be able to sign up for the sunrise safari (assuming you're there on the correct day for it).

As for AP, I'm clueless as to the new rules. However, in years past, we were never able to get AP rates for the 4th of July. WDW is packed at that time.

AP rates have been re-categorized and now you need to join the best "Best Rate Programme" and use your AP to check the best rates online or by phone. It is unlikely there will be a reduced rate available for 4th July.

I must admit I am not clear exactly on how the new Best Rate Programme works for AP holders, but it may be worth checking Disney.com as well as Disney.co.uk as I have found the rates vary (oddly!)

I think it is possible the rates may not be that competitive due to the 4th July being an exceptionally busy time at WDW, but you never know your luck!
