4th FP+ with tiers

I try to go on this as much as I can but I'm lost here. How do you get a 4th fast pass I last went in February and my family only got 3 but if you can get 4 now then I'm more for the new FP+
Thanks

Since 4/28 you can get as many fps as you want, but you must first use your original three. Then you can book additionally fast passes one at a time from any kiosk in the park. You can also switch to a different park and book fast passes there as long as you used up your original 3 at the first park.

You can reserve 3. After you use them, you can go to a kiosk and schedule another. Use that one and schedule another. And so on.

We just got back today from an 8 day stay at the parks and just wanted to throw out that you have to be a little more careful when you are scheduling your 4th fastpass and any after that at Epcot or Hollywood Studios because of the tiering. For example, we were at Epcot and did Test Track (tier 1), spaceship earth (tier 2), and living with the land (tier 2). Then I went back to try and get a fastpass for Soarin for later in the day. It wasn't available so I chose Maelstrom for my party since it was a Tier 1 attraction and after I left the kiosk I played with times on my smartphone moving one or two individuals in my party at a time to Soarin until I got what I wanted. If I had chosen perhaps seas with Nemo at a kiosk which is a Tier 2 attraction I would have only been able to change it to another Tier 2 attraction on my smartphone. Soarin, Test Track, or Maelstrom would never have been available because they weren't in that tier. Is that as clear as mud? :)

I learned that the hard way the day before at HS when we were trying for rockin roller coaster for our 4th but I chose TOT instead because it wasn't available at the time we wanted. A friendly CM told me at another kiosk that I could only switch to other Tier 2 attractions since TOT was tier 2. The cool thing he helped me do was switch TOT to American Idol which has a really short fastpass redemption time, then I just let it pass, it only took 15 minutes , then I went back to the kiosk and scored a Beauty and the Beast (tier 1) and was able to switch it later to a RRC for that evening.

One of the things I learned this past week, which is probably in another post that I haven't had time to read since we've been on vacation is that just because a CM says nothing is available for an attraction when they are looking at their ipad does not mean that it will stay that way. Almost everytime we got a 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th FP at a kiosk I would go in on my phone and play with attractions and the times until I got what I wanted. Sometimes I would have to switch only 1 member of my family of 5 at a time until we all got switched over to the attractions we wanted. Sometimes I would use the MDE app and other times I would go onto the Disney website on my phone and change times. Accessing it via the web offers you different options sometimes than the app does. I would also refresh and try again several times if needed. Does that make sense?

It might sound like a lot of work or a lot of time on your phone but it didn't feel like that. I really did research and listened to the advice from everyone here before I went and I felt better equipped to work the system to its full potential while we were there and I really wasn't on my device that much. It all helped make my boys' first trip really great with all the extra FP so they didn't mind that I was on my device changing things around every once in awhile.

Is it possible to book a forth fast pass in , let's say, animal kingdom, then change it on your phone to an Epcot fast pass ? We want to park hop, use all our fast passes in the morning at animal kingdom , then take a break mid day and head to Epcot. Has anyone tested this ?

I don't think that's doable through the app, only at a kiosk and only within the specific park in question. You can switch between attractions within a park on the app, but I don't think attractions outside of that park are available when switching up.

Do you have to use all three fp to get to #4 or can you just let them expire?

You can let them expire if you want. At epcot one morning we scheduled living with the land at 9:00, TT at 10, and Spaceship earth at 11 but we didn't actually get to the park until 10:00. We purposely let Living with the land expire since we had ridden it already the previous day and wanted to get to our 4th FP option as quick as possible in the hopes of getting soarin later that day.

Were you able to get the 4th FP for Soarin and if so, what time was your FP?

Wow, that's a pretty big detail that Disney left out!

Technically, Disney has not mentioned anything about changing extra FPs in the App. The company line is that currently you have to use the Kiosk for anything after the first 3.

There are certain work arounds that Disney allows that they do not mention. They never announced with Legacy FP that Mickey, Dumbo, and Barnstormer were disconnected from the rest of the system.
