4th fp, not until 3rd is used???

I know there is a way to get a 4th fp but I thought the 3rd fp must be used first? or am I mistaken? If I wanted to schedule our fp's for the afternoon in MK, I am assuming they would not let us get a fp before all three of them are used? Hope I am making sense.

You are correct. You can't pull a 4th FP until you use the 3rd.

or cancel the 3rd. Sometimes I have a change of plan and when in the park have cancel an existing pass and was able to pick another FP and so on after every FP use.

AS SOON AS you scan your 3rd FP at the MickeyHead, you can schedule your 4th FP...like while you're waiting in your 3rd FP line, you can schedule your 4th FP.

Yes.
a 5th FP
And, after you use (or scan) that...
a 6th FP
And, after you use (or scan) that...
a 7th FP
And, after you use (or scan) that...
a 8th FP
And, after you use (or scan) that...
etc.
until the parks close.

That’s why it’s a good strategy to make two “throw away” FPs at Epcot early in the day. If you do that, you can go for another FP after you use your Soarin, FEA or TT FP. FEA is a tough one to get as a 4th FP, but Soarin and TT are usually no problem.

I am assuming yes. Also, I read where they say to keep trying even if none show available? Sometimes they come up the next minute?

Sometimes you have to play with the times, but you should be able to get something earlier. Try the time instead of the general afternoon

Nope, it could be as early as 3:05, or whenever the first available time is. This also works for the first 3. After you use your first FP of the day, you can then try and shift your 2nd FP to earlier. So say your first is for 10-11 and you scan at 10. If your second is for 11-12, or later, you can then see if there are any available for earlier than 11. And then you can do the same for the 3rd after the 2nd. This helps to use up your first 3 faster so you can get more earlier in the day when there tends to be more available. This doesn't always work, especially for very popular rides, but it does for many rides.
And fastpasses are always very fluid, people are constantly changing plans so fastpasses come and go. So definitely refresh whenever you get the chance.

You could get a FP for 3:05 if you tapped your last one at 3:02. Just keep hitting the time over and over...each time you refresh it will show different availability.
