4pm Check-in questions

Well are they not supposed to be guaranteed a room ready by 3 or 4? Or am I wrong on that? On the flip side, what does Disney do if you are an hour or so late checking out?
DVC resorts check in time is after 4PM, regardless of how you paid. The villas take longer to clean and the housekeepers need all the time they can get. There is no late checkout with DVC resorts. Again, housekeepers need all the time they can get to clean the villas. You'll get tired of the housekeepers knocking on your door if you aren't out by 11.

From the email I received after making a reservation through the DVC Member website to stay on points:
Important Notes
Check‑In after 4:00 PM/Check‑Out before 11:00 AM

For a different stay, I had a cash reservation booked through Disney, not through DVC Member website, to stay in a studio. The email I received said the exact same thing.

We always plan to drop our carryons with Bell Services and head out somewhere. We throw a change of clothes and swimsuits into the carryons - and small tubes of sunscreen sized to get through security For several years we've headed into Epcot, but in the past we've made it a pool day if we didn't want to spend a half day worth of tickets. We've always had our room ready before 4 - although its been close to that, but since we've planned to be out and about for the day, it isn't a big deal.

We always arrive on an early AM flight and hope for early check in - though lately it hasn't worked and we are usually pretty tired by 4pm when we get the room ready text. Right now it's because the toddler needs an afternoon nap - we can usually get her to rest in the stroller, but it isn't nearly as good as a real nap, even in a pack and play. I'll be happy when they don't HAVE to nap and we can go to the pool or hang out without needing the room.

Yep, with kids who need a nap, its good to know where you can get them a decent nap that isn't in the room or the stroller. BCV used to have some great public spaces for a nap (I haven't been over there in years), and the Bellevue Room at BWV before the bar opens is quiet and has a couch where a little one can lie down while parents talk quietly or read a book. I think most of the resorts have something that is a quiet corner if you know where to find it.

And now that I've posted that to the world, all the quiet secret corners will become Disney's next "best not kept secret."

Well, we have been pretty lucky with our rooms being ready before 4 most of the time. It does mostly happen that we have dropped our bags gotten on the bus or monorail to a park and then we get the text saying the room is ready. so we don't get to the room until later anyway. We just plan on it not being ready until after 4pm.

Most rooms are ready by 4:00 because that is when the housekeeping shift ends.

I don't think we're ever *guaranteed* anything. (And remember a guarantee just means they'll compensate in some way if whatever is being guaranteed doesn't happen.) But I don't think we're guaranteed a time we get our rooms. Stuff happens.
