44 Hacks for a Disney Cruise Article

We took the Magic from NYC to WDW and the Bahamas in 2012. When we were getting off the ship for our WDW excursion, they handed everyone a brand new poncho because it was pouring rain. When we got back on the bus at night, they were handing out water bottles to everyone. Nice touch :)

I felt sorry for you guys. It was pouring very bad. I was at Epcot going back to the boardwalk and that was a long ride being soaked. I seen the DCL bus waiting to take people back to the magic. I know that was a long bus ride back being soaked. Probably your cruise.

None of these are "hacks". They're just information to know.

Edit: Bumbershoot beat me to it.

It was June 2012…I believe the 25th but it may have been the 26th. Don't feel TOO bad for us :) It actually turned out to be a petty nice day and cleared up by mid-morning. I think the skies opened up again that night as we were heading back to the bus. It was late by then anyway because I remember the fireworks had started. Still had a GREAT day!

How weird we got ponchos on our last two cruises. Both cruises were on the Wonder.

I think I am jealous of you guys that got ponchos!!! We did Alaska and it rained hard every port day and no ponchos!! Been on caribbean cruises as well and no ponchos. I can't believe I would pass them by without seeing them. Oh well.

I agree with Shmoo and others that the water on board is processed and filtered. I've consumer a lot of that water! :flower:

Interesting story about the water…..around 10 years ago I was on the Magic for a 7 night with my family and I had requested a large table for dining as I like the conviviality. And on formal night, there were a few officers that were scattered about the dining room seated with passengers for dinner. We had the great pleasure of having the officer and engineer over the water treatment at our table. I don't recall all the details but we listened with great interest about the extraordinary care and science behind the water on the ships. It was wonderful information and I often think of this gentleman when onboard and enjoying a glass of water! :cutie:

Did you have a excursion with DCL? I have only seen the free ponchos when I had a excursion.

we didn't have excursions but got them. they passed them to everyone and after lunch there were boxes sitting open at the door to take.

We had 1/2 of a good day at CC before the skies let loose last month. When we went back on the ship they actually handed out towels and had heat blowing in that area of security. I thought, wow, what a nice touch.

disney had to get special permission from the coast guard in order to have the lifeboats painted the mickey yellow

#2 shows tubes of Solar Relief Gel (which is amazing stuff btw) and Body Wash. I've only had the shampoo, conditioner and soap. Are the other two commonly included?

But Concierge doesn't give H2O products any more. DH got a burn last year and I asked if any gel was available, but they said it was all gone.
I've read that some people in Concierge were able to get the H2O products from their room hosts. But, yes, Concierge apparently no longer gets H2O as their amenities. Personally, I'd be asking my room host, housekeeping, Guest Services, hotel manager for H2O, if we didn't have it in our room and it was available onboard.

We got H2O products last month. What are they giving out now?

We were not Concierge on our last cruise (May 2015) and we asked our stateroom host about the possibility of getting some body wash. He provided both the body wash and the gel and replenished them as needed. I think we were able to get them because he also serviced some Concierge staterooms and had access to the products.
