But I'm happy to say I finished my day by day booking in a GV at SSR for November 2nd-9th. I also started my day by day booking for a HC-GV and a Concierge studio at AKV for November 9th-14th.... So far I have been able to secure everything I needed. Now to just get through the next 4 days and I will have completed the bookings.:dance3: . We had originaly planned that at the 7 month mark to try for BWV for November 2nd-9th but I think i'm just staying put:rotfl: :rotfl: . Susan

Curious why you felt the need to do day-by-day reservation for that time of year? I have been a member since 1994 and have only done this once and it was for July at HHI at 7 months I might see the need for WL at xmas or BWV for standard view, but otherwise, I think it only clogs MS for no significant reason. I am assuming you did this for a GV. I do not think everyone should or needs to do this regularly. Just my opinion.

Yes, I did do this for the GV. We need a H/C GV and there are very few of these. DS would not be able to go otherwise. He needs the roll in shower. He is severly disabled and we would have to lift him into a tub and as he is an adult that wouldn't be easy(I'm getting to old that LOL). I also wanted to insure a studio concierge at AKV. Also other than the first day I call i am not clogging the system. All following days I'm ususally off the phone in less than 5 minutes because i'm only adding on a day to each ressie. Booking at SSR unless I need the H/C GV I would call 11 months of check out day. If I were booking this time of year at BCV or BWV no matter what room needed I would do the day by day as it is F & W festival and I have to say I wouldn't feel the least bit guilty for doing so. Susan

Pooh's pal you shouldn't feet guilty. That particular week is one of the busiest for DVC. It's the last week of Food & Wine, the weekend is some sort of Soap Opera thing at MGM, close to veteran's day, and the New Jersey teachers conference is that week.

When we plan to go that week we always call day by day and especially for the 7 month change over to BWV.

We almost can never get what we want at the seven month time and need to waitlist.

Yes, there will be alot going on while we are at Disney. Jersey week ,F & W, Soap Opera weekend and the first MVMCP. We plan to be very busy that week. Susan

Poohs Pal,
Sorry, you did not state you needed HP accomodations. I certainly understand this being a physical therapist for 25 years. I offered my opinion because I see many new members doing day-by-day reservations as a routine and I just do not see the need unless its a holiday time period or other specific issues.

Connears, I've been a DVC member for 8 years now and I always call day by day to be sure we get what we want. It's peace of mind and worth the effort to me. Not to be rude, but clogging the phone lines is not what I call it and I've the right to book my ressie that way if I choose.

If MS joined the 21st century and had online booking, nobody would be "clogging the phone lines".

I'm not sure MS can specifically book/reserve the H/C GV. You might have to go through the special accommodations group to do that, even though it is a DVC resort.

My advice is to post the question on the disABILITIES Forum, and see what they say over there. Or you can try sending a PM to SueM in MN who is a DVC member who also happens to moderate the DisABILITIES Forum. She has personal experience with the accessible units at several of the DVC resorts..

I may be wrong, but I want you to be sure and get what you need - there have been reports that only the "special" group can block HA accommodations, even at DVC resorts. Not sure I trust what MS says on this due to other reports here to the contrary. Since you are calling at 11 months and booking SSR, there should be plenty of time to get the "special" group involved - sorry I forget their exact name, but the posters on the disabilities Forum will know.

Good luck!

Don't worry about it. Btw I did put H/C GV in my original post. I always put HC instead of HP:confused3 . Susan

Carol, Whenever I book H/C through MS they put me on hold while they contact special service's to insure I get exactly what I need. We need the roll in shower so this insure's I get just that. That's why I was on the phone for such a long time today. I had to book my final night at SSR and then start a new booking for AKV H/C GV and then book a studio concierge:scared1: . Currently AKV only has 1 HC GV open for booking. I called a couple of weeks ago to make sure there would be 1 available for booking(so I could start planning). At that time MS called special service's and I guess special service's also called AKV to insure there was one for booking. I was even given a room number from MS. Not sure if he was supossed to do that or not.
I thought for a moment today that I may not get the room. MS put me on hold contacted special service's to make sure there was one open for booking. MS came back on the line told me one was available and then spent quit some time asking me questions. She then said ok hang on while I get special service's back so I can book this room for you. I'm thinking I thought you did this 20 minute's ago when you were talking to them. She came back on the line and said OK it was still available and i have blocked that room for you for 5 nights. Each day when I call I also alway's make sure I'm getting the HC room with roll in shower. I will be done with all my bookings on Friday. I started a week ago Monday. Susan

Good! Hope you have a wonderful trip!

When I made my reservations for next week back last January I asked the MS castmember if I needed to making my reservations that way or not. She said it wasn't a bad idea depending on whattype of room you wanted and whattime of year to make sure you got what you wanted. Considering eadh days call only took about 5 to 10 minutes, I don't think it was clogging up the phone lines at all. And most importantly I got this years magical trip set up exactly the way I wanted it.

The last comment the CM had about it was that it is their job and that is why they are there.

My feeling. . . Make them however you want/need to to make sure you get the vacation you want. :santa:

I finally booked my last day today. I was able to get a GV at SSR for November 2nd-9th. AKV GV for November 9th-14th and a AKV concierge for the 9th-14th. DD and I combined and borrowed points together but this will be worth every point. After adding on the first night every call after that took about 5 minutes. Susan
