I really want a party for my 40th birthday next year, but I honestly don't see anyone planning one for me. Is it tacky to plan my own? One friend said that it is and that I should just start dropping hints instead.
I think that hubby would try to plan it if he knew I really wanted him to, but I just don't think he'd have a clue about how to go about it. And I'm afraid that if he were to try to plan it, he'd call his mother for help and it would end up being in NJ which is where all his family is. I don't want a party there. I want it in my home state. My friends and family aren't going to travel to NJ for my birthday party.
What do you think? Is it tacky to throw myself a party?
(A side issue is where to have it. We can't really have it in our apartment. Way too small. But I don't really have a lot of $$ to pay for a venue and food. My bday is in July, so an outdoor affair might work if the weather cooperates. So if you think I should plan my own party, I'd be happy to hear any ideas on where to have the party. I'm not even sure how big the guest list would be yet. Under 100, I'm sure.)
