I'll be at WDW for my 40th birthday with my DD14. I'd love some suggestions for a great birthday dinner. We won't be hitting V&A, or any of the really high end places, but something more special than counter service would be lovely!:thumbsup2

Has anyone had anything really special happen for a big birthday? TIA!

For my 4oth B-day DH and I went to California Grill. We had a window seat and the ressie was made so that we would be there during the Fireworks. This restaurant is one of the more expensive ones, but it was a Bday I will never forget.

We both love Rose & Crown, so that is where I have chosen to have dinner on my 40th. I hope that we are sprinkled with a little extra pixie dust and have the good fortune of being able to see IllumiNations while we have our dessert. I have an ADR for 7:20pm. We are planning to tip the server extra if this happens, so that he/she is well compensated for the time that we will be taking up at the table.

We also love Raglan Road, which can be a lot of fun. We are trying Kona Cafe one night too. I would like to suggest that you consider going to the GF's Gardenview Lounge and do the Afternoon Tea, which is a lot more fun than I ever imagined. There are so many unique dining experiences to choose from, I hope you have a wonderful time! Maggie

If you're really a big kid at heart, CRT really makes you feel like a princess on your b-day and if you order a cake, you'll truly have a wonderful experience! I can see that being a wonderful way to spend your b-day with your daughter!

Also I would suggest checking out the menus at EPCOT's restaurants for something that would suit your likes. There is so much to choose from there. If you haven't tried Ohana's, I would highly suggest it! Plus, they do something special for b-days if you mention in when you make your ADR.

We'll pretty much try anything (except possibly Askerhaus!), and we've been to WDW quite a bit and have sampled many different restaurants, but never for a special occasion.

We like R&C too, and I love the idea of afternoon tea at GF-I hadn't thought of that! I'd love to try to book CaliGrill, but I think it will be out of pocketbook range this time.

I guess a better question might be, what kind of unusual or funny or over the top memorable birthday dining experiences have people had? I'd love to just hear about them!:)

kjs-what a great suggestion for CRT! I wish I'd thought of that 2 months ago! I would totally have had a blast with it. Maybe I'll call anyway and see if they have a cancellation or something. Thanks for the idea!

Whispering Canyon Cafe could be alot of fun. Make DD lets everyone know it is your 40th.

Thanks to kjs' inspiration, I took a chance and called for CRT for my 40th b-day dinner, and got it!!!:cool1: I wasn't too hopeful since we're 6 weeks out, but I must have had a blast of birthday pixie dust come my way.

I don't know who's more excited-me or DD14!

Nah, it's me! Who am I kidding?

If you are a funloving kind of person, I suggest Whispering canyon. We took my aunt there last year and she had an absolute blast for her birthday.
