40% off select nights/resorts in 2007

They were going to give it to me last night without a pin but my dates were blacked out.

I just called - no luck. The CM said "I have no idea how this is getting out!" Apparently, she isn't aware of the power of the DIS! Anyway, she said you can have all of the rate codes you want, but you must have a pin number to book this promotion. I guess I remain one of the unlucky ones. I get all kinds of Disney email, Disney shopping email, I have a Disney VISA card, etc, so I've yet to figure out the secret!

Did you call only once? Many people keep calling...

We received a flyer in the mail yesterday with the above offer. Dates of travel include: 2/25-3/7; 5/28-6/3; 8/21-10/6; 10/21-11/3; 11/11-11/16; and 12/9-12/22.

We booked last night, 5 nights @AKL, pool view room, dining & base tickets. 2 adults, 2 kids. Total: $2155.48!!

All I did was mention the offer. I spoke to 2 reps last night and neither one asked for the actual code.

Hope this info helps someone else who was planning a stay in '07.

Helene

Has anyone else notice that the above dates match pretty closely to the WONDERFUL WEEKS advertised on the Disney website. They must be pushing hard to bring up reservations in those time periods.

Yes it was

I find it frustrating that the moderators of this board arbitrarily decide that a code is not available for the general public even though the poster CLEARLY stated that both the CM that offered it to her, AND the supervisor she spoke to in order to clarify, told her it was available for the public!

Oh well, I guess the mods think they know more about Disney's offers than the supervisors who work for them do!:confused3

But then on the flip side many many posters on other threads have said the opposite, that it is a pin code, and some Disney supervisors have supported that. So I am guessing until there is clarification, on what these codes are and who exactly can use them, I am guessing the mods are sticking to their rules until further notice. I could be wrong. This whole situation is a mess.

The dates that the 40% covers doesn't work for me anyways, but I feel that Disney should let anyone who can use the discount to be able to and once they've met capacity for a resort then it's done. I don't get giving it to certain people and not others. :confused3

After communicating with several DISers via PM, I am convinced there are 2 sets of codes. One set available to the public at large with no PIN needed, and another set that cannot be used without a PIN. Now, as to why, I couldn't say. But it's not for to wonder why, . . .

Ya know that would make sense. Thanks for that. But still there is no CLEAR confirmation from Disney that there is indeed a general public code. I personally can't take a CM or even a Supervisors word for it, because they all give you different answers depending who you talk to at CRO. I called yesterday about something else, but did ask casually about codes for later this year. A CM I spoke to was adamant that there absolutely NO codes at all. It was too early for them. Go figure.

My fear is that the fall bookings with this code, if they end up being inelligible for the discount, but not cancelled right away, will affect Disney's marketing dept's decision to offer free dining. If the hotels appear to have higher bookings for the fall this early on, why would they offer a more substantial discount like free dining? Maybe they would make the decision to keep this discount in effect in place of free dining, if it would cost them less than offering free dining. That would stink, as I would save over 500 more than my current reservation using free dining. You would think that marketing would already be knowledgeable about a large number of reservations that may be cancelled by WDW in the near future, but the one thing we have found to be certain is that one Mouse glove very rarely knows what the other Mouse glove is doing. Maybe the amount of fall reservations with this code is insignificant...who knows....

First off let me say I uunderstand your frustration with the entire code situation right now. But please keep in mind that this is caused by Disney and not by the DISboards.

You have been around long enough to remember a time when the posting of any discount codes was not allowed on the boards. The owner of the site and the webmasters have established clearly defined lines as to what can and cannot be posted on this site.

Please read the pin codes sticky at the top of this page. Pay attention to "If there is ANY INDICATION on these boards that a code that has been listed was a PIN offer and not a general public code PLEASE DO NOT CONTINUE TO TRY TO POST IT HERE. "

So what you need to understand is that the moderators did not arbitrarily decide that a code is not available for the general public, what was decided is that these codes are not clearly defined and until they are they cannot be posted.

I also think it is time for many of the posters on this particular board to re-read the posting guidelines. As indicated in the guidelines any questions regarding the board policies must be directed to the webmasters.

There will be no further discussion of policy on the boards.

Just a reminder that everyone should read the board guidelines concerning moderators. Moderators can't win. If we remove a code that hasn't been proven to be available to everyone people complain. If people are surprised when it turns out the code was not to be used the moderators should have known better and removed it.

Also a reminder that personal messages should be kept to a PM. If you have a question about something on the board you have the report a post feature to notify a moderator.

I would hate to see all discussions of codes banned from the DIS.

Just wondering, what was the mistake on BTW? I've seem many post refering to a mistake that Disney made that resulted in cancelled reservations.

Also, I'm really thinking of turning my reservation over to a Travel agent. Did I read that agents were not accepting these reservations?

Last year there was a glitch in the online system...maybe all systems but the dis was accessing online. I cant remember exactly what the room categories were so I'll make some up. If you looked at a ressie for bwi standard and changed to a 1br instead of adding the the upgrade amount it deducted it.

This is my understanding of the Boardwalk incident according to the Guest Services person I spoke today. There was computer glitch that allowed you to book a $700 SUITE for $0 if you purchased a one(1) day park ticket. GS said that this is a case of a obvious mistake that people tried to use. Why would WDW give away a suite? They did revoke the reservations that did this. She also said they also did not have enough suites to honor the reservations and that was another reason why it was revoked.

WOW! I can see that offer being cancelled. I hope the latest offer of 40% goes through for everyone. If it is a mistake, it seems small compared to that one.

Ok...

I just called CRO & spoke with a very nice man. I asked for POP for 5 nights starting 12/10 w/5 day hoppers and dining for 2 adults & one child. He quoted me $1661.36--the exact figure I got when I checked at disneyworld.com--okay.

I then ask if I am available for any discounted rates, that I have heard about codes and discounts. He says "let me check." This takes a few minutes. He comes back & says he found one, "now lets see if I can apply it." Then, "yes, it went through. The amount is $1474.96." I say okay, I'll take it. I asked if this was "some kind of pin attached to my name," & he tells me no, that those are mailed out to special people they are marketing. Oh, okay. He never says what code he used. I don't specifically ask.

He also tells me that if any thing else is released in the future, I can call back & apply a different discount if it is better.

So, I ask him to give me a quote on Wilderness Lodge. Nothing available with the discount, but he can get AK, so I say go ahead. He quotes me $2041.86 for pool view--for the same as above w/POP, same dates, days, everything. I ask him to knock off one day (still keeping 5 day hoppers) & he quotes me $1784.13--when you subtract about $90 for a day less of dining, that comes to about $166/night, right? That's good, no?

Now to talk to DH & see what he thinks. I took POP, have a confirmation number, but I might call back for AK...
