40% off in 2008 packages?

Question please, and forgive me if this has already been asked and answered....for those of you who have booked a 2008 package already, have you received a discount, and if so, do you know how much the discount was on the room (realizing that the tickets are not discounted, only the room)? I think if I know that there's a 40 discount on the room available, I will take the big step of booking a package for the first time!

From what I have seen ........
There were discounts ..... but limited times of year.... when most families can't really go.
If you are flexible.... you might get lucky.

Right now there is a Bounce Back (you have to be staying onsite at a WDW to book it) for select dates in 2008. It is a room only discount of 40% on DVC villas. The discount for Value resorts is 20%, and 30% for Mods & Deluxes.

With my Canadian discount, after I figured it all out with the tickets special, I think I got about 15% off my room.

ALL of us would LOVE to see a 40% discount!!!
But I don't think I have seen that in years!!! and if there has been.... it would have many restrictions..... very limited times, limited availability, limited resorts, etc.
I am thinking the best you might get now a days would be about 20 - 25%.

Alot of people got 40 % off their rooms this year. So it isn't crazy to think it may happen again this year. And I was able to book it over Christmas. Dec 18-27th.

I'd just keep my eye out for a deal and book it when it comes up.

I too have noticed a lot of people getting 40% this year. And I will certainly be trying my best to get one. The rooms have really hiked up in price and even though the exchange rate makes it cheaper for me, I am starting to think rack rate at the monorail resorts is getting way OTT.

We have the 40% discount for our December 2007 trip. It was offered at the beginning of the year and I grabbed it fast, knowing that I could cancel if need be, as I knew it was not going to get any better than that.

I'm curious as to where these specials are found. Does Disney advertise these specials or did you find out about the special through the disboards? Thanks for any info.

JJ&JSMOM, I think I got a postcard for that particular deal but I have gotten emails as well. I sign up for everything I can and that seems to help, sometimes. You can also just call and ask because sometimes there is a deal but you do not know if you do not ask.

There were many reports (as well as arguments) over the 40% deal as many who read about them on the DIS Boards (codes & deals) got the offer without having received an offer personally.

If you are hunting for a particular time I would go to codes & deals and subscribe to the thread that pertains to you and keep an eye out. Please remember the generous cancellation policies at WDW and grab a deal if you think there is a chance you can go because you can always cancel if you must but cannot book after the deadline.

Thanks for the advice. We're not supposed to be going back to Disney until 2009 but I might be able to talk DH into going sooner if we can get a great deal. Thanks again.

We booked our trip in Feb 2007 for April/May 2008. We didn't receive any type of discount that I'm aware of. We went with the whole package deal: moderate hotel, 5 day park hopper (no water parks) and basic dining plan for 2 adults, one child and an infant (she's free). I believe it came to $2013 (that includes travel innsurance and tax). I think our room breaks down to $149/night at Coronado Springs.
