40% off card in the mail

I just rechecked the card and it's addressed to me with my full name, first, maiden, married. Which is how I am registered on the disneyparks site. We have never booked a ressie with that name. I am always the lead name and it's just booked with my first and married name.

I still have no theory on how they send them out because I would have guessed that there was no incentive for them to send me anything. We stayed onsite 3 times in a span of 16 months. The length of the 3 trips was from 8-14 nights. The latest being June/July of this year. I would think that on paper we sound like a sure thing.

I'm still calculating, in my head, the cost of maybe staying someplace I would never spend the money on ie: BC or Poly.

Add me to the list for receiving the 40% off card in the mail today with someone else's name....the person that lived here before us??? We only been at this address since.....ummmmm 2001 and we've been to Disney World 3 times and one cruise since moving in !:lmao:

I did get an email from Disney but not for the 40% code I got the buy 4 days get 3 free after seeing that promo on the Dis, on TV, in the Saturday's Star newspaper. Don't they know I feel left out ?:confused3

I got two in the mail yesterday!

One addressed to me and one to my friend who I traveled with a few years ago - to my address.

That trip was in September 2006, my friend's name was one the reservation too, so I suspect sometimes they are computer generated from previous bookings.

I don't understand either. We usually stay at DVC resorts using our points and we go twice a year for 14 nights each.

And the last time we book under CRO at the other Disney resorts was AKL 8 years ago and it was under my husbands name. This 40% pin code is under my name.:confused3

Now my only guess is that since we do stay at the DVC resorts and book it through the Members Reservation (hence we are not in their system), and so when they asked for our postal code when we visited last time, they may have thought that we don't stay onsite. So they figured sending me a pin code will entice me to stay in one of the resorts. If that's the case, then that makes sense.

I got one too - addressed to me using my Maiden name, and sent to my parent's house!! I've been married for 9 years and DH and I have gone to WDW twice in that time. I did go YEARS ago with my parents (1987), would that be how they got that name? Who knows? Wonder if we'll be able to use it, since almost all my ID is in my married name?:confused3

Yes, you can use it. Just call them and explain that you are now married. You don't need to tell them how long you've been married. They will just change your info in their system. If it were me I would leave the address as is until right before you travel. Then call them and change it.

I got the 40% off code too. Does anyone know if I book this room only for August and then they offer free dining during that time, can I get both? Thanks, ;)

We received a postcard code at work!!! addressed to some unknown person named Joe( that's not me, although maybe it was a typo...) I looked his name up in the phone book and there isn't a joe _____ in the book. Our shop is in an old warehouse in an industrial park. no houses or condos even close. I almost cried when I saw the postcard that didn't have my name on it!!!

We're not going in 2009 either, but the postcard in my name may have been a deal breaker!

Wouldn't that be great? :) No, Disney doesn't allow "stacking" of codes. You can switch to free dining...if it is offered...but sometimes what is available with FD is not what you already have booked, so you might have to change resorts or category of room. HTH

I also got the 40% deal in the mail and with the wrong name on it and it is the 1st time we've ever got anything in the mail. The name isn't anyone I know and we are the only family that has ever lived in our house so I am puzzled to where they got the name from. A bummer though since I was hoping to go again this summer, let's hope free dining will be offered again for August.:goodvibes

We rec'd the postcard with 40% of Value resorts as well. However, I think if we decided to go back in 2009, the free-dining option would save us more money (family of 4) as we would go during the value seasons anyways. I'll hold into the card anways....you never know when we'll win the lotto :cool1:

We too received a card with the 40% off ... also addressed to someone not at our address (and as far as I know this person has never lived here) ... :confused3

I didn't get one but hubby did. We have different last names, and he is always a secondary passenger. They must be targeting those people!

Well--I am always 1st on the bookings and it came to me.
BUT I am a TA and never book anymore on the conventional WDW site. Only the TA site? Maybe they wonder where I went?:confused3

I can't use it..the TA rate is better, wish I could pass it along.

I am reading about everyone receiving all the 40% pins and booking ahead..
i am crossing my fingers.. but then it got me thinking..

what if ... booked everything with this pin code that everyone is talking about BUT THEN some new great special suddenly comes along .. example... new resort discount code or whatever that would make it cheaper for you ...

can the reservations be changed to get the better deal ?? ie. the deal that would come out cheaper or do you have to stick with the deal you have now , which is the 40%.. thanks
