$40 a Day for Dining at Disney

Great job, stayhomemom77!

I wish ink cartidges and ink for the printer weren't so expensive.
I would really like to copy & print alot of these & take them with me.
I don't have a laptop, so won't have a computer with me.
With my aging memory, I sure won't remember all these great ideas when I'm there.

:lmao:

Hey wish, you still have good ole fashion paper and pencil. get some index cards and write the tips on them. I think we are so use to technology now, we forget what we did before we had them.

Actually, I had been doing that, but there are so many, it got to be quite a stack.
I know people who are more "computer literate" know how to shrink and arrange alot on a page on their computer.
Some people talk about shrinking down to just one sheet of paper & printing off all the approved snack credit list of each park, etc. That takes knowing a whole lot more than I do.
And younger eyes to read it when it's done.:lmao:
Bifocals only get you so far.

Hey wish!

I still have most of the more recent posts in an Excel Document (the stuff way at the beginning is long gone!!) and I'm one of those computer literate folks who can "shrink and arrange" so if you have Word you'll only have to hit "Control P" and you'll be set.

If you're interested, PM me your email address and I'll send you the fully edited document.

That goes for anyone else too! If you PM me and ask me for the $40 a day document, I'll email it to you once I've got it sorted out in Word.

I am VERY impressed with all you have done and the kindness it took to compile all that information.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

YOU ROCK!!:dance3::worship::dance3:

I ve only read up to page 8, but had to chime in and say what a great idea! I'm looking forward to reading the rest soon.

Why thank you!! It was fun. And I'm going to try and keep posting variations until my creativity runs out. :lmao:

The Word document is ready everyone so just give my your email addresses and I'll send you the document!

WOW! Love Love Love this thread. My hat goes off to all who posted all suggestions. :worship:
DDP doesn't work for me as a solo traveler. You have inspired me to try and set up the $40/day challenge on my next trip... Well except for 2 days. Meet up one day during F&W Festival and my birthday... :rolleyes1 need to splurge once in awhile. :teeth:
Thank you especially to Eeyoreswife and stayhomemom77!

Magic Kingdom
Main Street Bakery: Egg/ham/cheese croissant & coffee~ $8.61
Sleepy Hollow snacks: Chocolate Chunk Cookie~ $2.12
Liberty Tree Tavern: Pilgrim’s Feast and water~ $18.66
Casey’s Corner: Hot Dog Meal & soda~ $9.67
Total $39.06

That's all I've done so far. I do want to note that I noticed at the bottom of one of the allears menus it said "sales tax included", specifically the one that says Ice cream/Treat Cart for Magic Kingdom. So you might just want to scroll down to check before you add tax.

I, personally DID see that that when making up my daily plans and adjusted for it. As far as I noticed, that was only listed for a few of the buffet places (that the price listed included tax) as well as the treat carts.

Thanks for pointing out that you caught that for everyone else. :thumbsup2

Oh my gosh! Too FUNNY, I have done it again! :rotfl2::laughing::rotfl:

Before I share the joke...some background info!

DH is currently working on finishing his PhD. He has submitted a paper for a conference in Barcelona in Spain and was accepted. :yay::woohoo: The school is paying all his expenses but we don't have the kind of cash necessary for the kids and I to accompany him due to the high cost of flights to Europe. :sad1: We CAN afford for just me to go for an adults-only trip, but we have no one to leave the kids with for a week, so that doesn't work either. :sad2:

HOWEVER....

We MAY have enough for the kids and I to do a short trip to Disney if we drive down.

When I was pricing everything out, I realized that the budget would be ridiculously tight. We'll be packing our meals for the drive down and back so we'd just need to buy our food while on Disney property. Even so, the budget is SO tight, we'd have only $200 total to spend on food for the three of us for our 5 Disney days.

Those of you with decent math skills may have already discovered that means we could only spend....

$40 a day!!!

I did NOT think it was possible to feed the three of us for $40 a day on property even if we packed cereal from home and drank ice waters all the time but I went through and looked into it anyway.

And...I managed it yet again! :woohoo::yay::cheer2::cool1::banana:

Now, it means that
...it's all counter service
...I'm eating kid's meals sometimes
...we are sharing sometimes
...we will be supplementing what we do buy with granola bars, trail mix and the like brought from home should we get hungry in between meals.

That's enough explaining now....

Here's the proof!

Fun thread to read....
I think all the "die hard" dining plan people are saying geez, thats a lot of work to figure out... where I have to eat and Thats what I get to eat:rotfl:

And the "I can do it cheaper than the DP" people are saying...Wow, it really IS possible to eat great food cheaper than the ddp:rotfl:

Think we'll have any converts? :confused3:rotfl2:

I like the DDP, basically because I am too set in my ways after all these years:rotfl2: , its just easier to make a reservation and Pick a way....we seem to wind up ordering Xtras somehow and pay more anyway :rotfl:

Great thread OP!

a1tinkfans,
You say "after all these years."
How many years have you used the DDP?
I was not aware of it preceeding 2007.

When all was said and done after my 10 night vacation in July with DH and DD 16, our meals turned out to be about $32 per person per night. It was definitely less expensive than the DDP would have been. We ate very happily and did not skimp on anything. We did snack and we all ordered exactly what we wanted wherever we were.

we ate at the following:
Plaza
Tony's
LTT (lunch)
Cosmic Rays
Main Street Bakery
Aloha Aisle

Hollywood Brown Derby
KRNR station
Hey Howdy Hey
Rosie's
Writer's Stop
Villians Sweet Shop
Starring Rolls

Yak n Yeti
Kusafari

Coral Reef
Chefs De France
Via Napoli
La Cava de Tequila
Boulangerie Patisserie
Kaki Gori

Boardwalk Bakery
Kona Cafe
California Grill
afternoon Tea at GF
Earl of Sandwich
Wolfgang Pucks
Portabellos
Goofy's Candy shop a few times
Ghirardelli

There may have been more , that's all I can remember off the top of my head!
