What time is the first parade and fireworks at MK? Anyone kept their toddler up for them? I was initially just going to have DD watch fireworks at epcot from the boardwalk aso we are staying at BCV but should we make the effort for MK too or is it too late? DD usually goes to bed at 8/8:30.

Never mind.

2. Sorry, but that is a really poor experience as most of the show can't be seen (and none of it heard) outside of Epcot's World Showcase.
This can't be stressed enough. Please don't try to watch IllumiNations from the Boardwalk.

Just throwing it out there that my toddlers have always hated fireworks. If they are asleep, we get to watch. Awake, we move quickly to the exit. If you have already exposed your toddler to fireworks and it went well great. If not, I would start with a illuminations, as it is easier to leave if she finds it upsetting.

We have tried every version of attempting to keep our child awake for fireworks.

Even at 6 y.o., we still have not found a winning formula.

Her ability to stay awake is dependent on luck.

Best success we ever had was accomplishing a LONG afternoon nap after being out from early morning.

Frankly, I am often amazed at the number of small children awake inside MK past 9pm. Some children are troopers, others are simply cranky (or worse).

My advice: if you go to (near) MK, be prepared to let child sleep in stroller. And yes, having a stroller in MK with the crowd is not fun for parents, but it's Disney.

We tried again last week and failed at this, and DD is now 7. I thought for sure this would be the year that she made it to Wishes....maybe next year!

OK maybe we will wait to future trips. We will happily watch the festival of fantasy parade!

It really depends on your child... Our daughter is a night owl so keeping her up for fireworks at age 3 is no problem. We just take a long nap. I'll let her sleep in in the morning though - no rope drop for us! Also we are central time zone so that works in our favor.

We cheat. We are DVC members that stay at Bay Lake Tower where they have a lounge to view the fireworks.

Even at 6 y.o., my daughter crawls into her stroller (which we only use at Disney) and falls asleep just about the time the fireworks begin.

Some day. ;-(

We're planning 8pm Wishes for our trip in March. That's 7pm for us in the central time zone, so I think we'll make it, fin gers crossed. They usually go to bed a little later on vacation and our next day is just a resort day. Well have a double stroller for the 2 and 5 year old.

DD is 2, and has been exposed to fireworks just a couple time. When she saw them during MNSSHP (10pm) she found them pretty, but loud. So she just cuddled in close to me while we sat in a calm area (behind the Castle) to watch them.

As for the part about keeping her up that late, our DD typically naps 2-4 and goes to bed at 9; on the day of the party she napped 3-5:30 and made it the whole party.
