Just thought I'd give a brief overview of our wonderful trip 11/9 - 11/16/2002.
Left the kids and hubby @ home and took my aunt from Canada on her once in a lifetime trip to WDW. She flew into Charlotte on 11/8 and we left for Savannah early on 11/9. Spent a wonderful day touring the city, antique shops and riverfront before having a nice dinner on the riverfront and returning to our room in the historic district. Got up early the next morning for our drive to WDW.
Arrived @WDW (ASMU) around lunchtime and went straight to Premium Outlets for some pre-WDW shopping. Got lots of goodies and then went to Downtown Disney for more shopping and dinner @Planet Hollywood. Ate in the bar area and had a fabulous server and great food. We were pooped and went back to AS.
Spent Monday @Epcot. The parks were nearly deserted and we spent very little time in line for anything that we wanted to do. The Food & Wine Festival was going on, but I was not very impressed. Sampled a few items, but didn't think it was something I would go out of my way to do again. I had an incredible headache and it was 90º, so I was pretty much miserable all day. Did go "pearl diving" in the store in Japan and had a nice necklace made with my pearl. Had PS for LeCellier, but couldn't bear to even smell my food when it came. Had the server take it away. Did enjoy some bread sticks and coffee and the other three in my party really enjoyed their dinner. One had the sweet potato ravioli and loved it. They stayed for Illuminations while I went to our room for a hot shower and some drugs.
Spent Tues. @ MGM. Woke up feeling much better and we had a wonderful time! Since none of the other ladies in my party wanted anything to do with speed or heights, we didn't have to wait long to do the things we liked. Great Movie Ride, Muppets and Backlot Tour were their favorites. They also liked Indiana Jones. A terrible storm blew up about 6:00 pm, so we had to skip Fantasmic and went back to the hotel and ate dinner in the food court. A good day.
Had Chef Mickey's PS Wed. and our 2 first timers LOVED it. Our server (Pam) left a little to be desired, but they loved the atmosphere and the food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the hash brown casserole. The characters really cut up with my 2 aunts and they loved it. You should have seen them with their autograph books! I had to reprimand them for pushing in line! Then went to MK where the crowds had apparently been hiding all week. It was pretty packed, but I've seen it much worse. Did all the tame rides and they really felt like they were at Disney World when we did Small World. It was a great day! The fireworks were fabulous and we enjoyed talking to a wonderful couple from England.
Spent Thurs. @AK. Had a great time in ITTBAB. I told my aunt from Canada to take a seat and she kept wiping them and saying, "I can't sit down, they're all wet!" I finally insisted she sit down and later she found out where the "wet" came from. She thought the "show" must be so scary that someone wet the seat! It was hilarious. Had a great lunch @FlameTree (BBQ chicken salads) and then "hopped" back over to MK to see the parade that we had missed before. We're still having a wonderful time.
Back to MGM for Fri. as this seems to be their favorite so far. Saw Stars & Motorcars and had lunch @H&V. They loved this. My favorite aunt had been buying me every Tinkerbell item she saw on this trip as we rarely see so much of her. I had to talk her out of buying me a 2 ft. tall Tink sitting on a giant thimble. I couldn't imagine where I'd put it. Finally got to see Fantasmic and the best part of the trip was when it first started and I looked over at my aunt and saw her mouth "Wow!". It was a wonderful end to a very relaxing trip.
For the past few years we've gone for Thanksgiving week and really liked that. Although I missed the Osborne lights, I'll go again for Veterans Day week because there were no crowds and it's much more enjoyable to me.
