WDW veteran, never been to US/IOA...

I have a work conference next week and it looks like I'm going to have Friday 1/14/04 free until about 3:00. I will be staying on-site at RPH, solo 33yo male.

So...

Having never been to either park, is it going to be worth 4 or 5 hours with FOTL? I'm leaning towards it because of the FOTL and time of year, maybe even buying the 2 park thing to possibly do the couple of "thrill" rides at US (advice seems to be that IOA has more of the thrill rides).

Thoughts?

With FOTL you will be able to get a lot done plus the parks aren't as crowded at that time. Be there 30 minutes before park opening as they usually open 15 minutes or so early. If I only had a few hours, I'd do Mummy, MIB, Back to the Future, and Terminator at Universal. At IOA, I'd do Hulk, Spiderman, Dueling Dragons, and Jurassic Park. You would probably like Dudley but since it might be cold and you would get very wet, you might want to skip it. I think you could do all of these in the amount of time you have.

we did Mummy twice today, MIB twice, and Jaws once in an hour today, and that was getting to the park at 10:00 using standby lines. and we weren't rushing. I'd definately get the 2 park pass, and hit all of the big ones.

we moved down here from Peoria. comparing our weather this week, I'm glad I did. :D

Yeah, you're glad to have missed this week's weather. An inch of ice earlier in the week that still hasn't melted all the way, covered by a couple of inches of snow last night/this morning.

Ahhhh, midwest weather...

Great advice here! Just wanted to say, have a great time at Universal!! :)

We'll be doing Universal on Friday the 14th too. We plan on only doing the Studios this time. We have a cruise on Sat. and plan on leaving by about 3:00pm to head to the Port. Even without FOTL, we'll see most of the park, you'll have no problem at all. If you like rides, do IOA!! BTW it's 2005 now...Mark

5 hours is a ton of time, and you'll see alot.

Even though there are two parks, just think of them as one because the walk between them is very short.

If you're a thrill ride fan, then start at IOA, and do Hulk in the front row, Spiderman, Dr. Doom, then head to the back of the park and do Dueling Dragons, Jurassic Park in the back row.

Now head over to USF and do the Mummy, MIB, and whatever movie attractions you have time for.
