We are considering taking the 4 night cruise next summer using our DVC points. How difficult is it to get the room you want in the 11 month window. We would like a cat. 6. Are they hard to get?

Thanks for the help

I don't think you will have a problem. Cat 6 has more rooms on board than any other. Call DCL to inquire about cruises and ask them how it looks for the cruise you want to take.

We are cruising on points on Nov. 14, 4 night. I called and reserved in March and they had several of the cat 7 nav. verandahs left. Pleanty of cat 6, were left too. It sounded like they had lots of availablity for all levels. I had thought that I may have a problem, since this week is the week before Thanksgiving. So far, I am pretty happy with the process. I just hope I still keep feeling ok about the value, with all the using points vs renting points for cash to pay for the cruise discussions.

Thank you for the info. I understand what you said about using the points for the cruise. I have read that a lot of people rent them and use the money for the cruise. However, I look at it this way, everyone is entitled to use the points in the best way they see fit. Part of the reason for purchasing our points was to use them periodically for the cruise. I am afraid that renting would be too much of a hassle.

I appreciate your help and will get ready to make reservations soon.::MickeyMo

Last summer, we booked a Cat 6 at the 11th month window. Had no problem, in fact, we had our choice of rooms. Don't worry. Have a great time!

This past week I booked a three night cruise for November 4th of this year, cat 6. There were only a few rooms available for points (8 to be exact...the CM reviewed the cabin numbers with me and I chose one that had the best location for my family).
As with any other booking, I would say it depends on the time of year you are traveling and the room type you are looking for.

The cruise can be booked 11 months out even though it's not your home resort? I'm new at this. (DVC member for 2 months)

Yes, book 11 months out! I have reservations for next Easter, can't wait! I too can't see not using points, especially with a small group. Avoiding the hassles and not spending cash is why I bought in the first place. Welcome to DVC.

Boy, am I glad there are a few other DVCers who feel the same as me! I feel like I got a great deal! We did not buy annual passes this year ( we are skipping because of the cruise) so it's like a double bonus!:p

I booked a 4 day cruise in early November in '02. There were plenty of cat 6's. In fact, 30 days out from our cruise, it came to my attention that our cat 6 was not a "sleep 4" but rather a "sleep 3". I called DVC immediately----they in turn got Disney Cruise Line on a 3-way call with me and themselves. Even at 30 days out there were plenty of cat 6's left---unfortunately none that slept 4 though so we got upgraded. I had requested a "sleep 4" at the time of booking (11 mos out).
