4 Hot Mamas take on the World 9/2011! *UPDATE 8/31* I'm leaving TODAY!!!

Weekends mosts definately seem to be busier....and go by faster too!
I used Easy WDW for crowd prediction levels, but didn't stick to it strictly as there were a couple of days where we wanted a certain park and it said it would be crowded, we went with it anyway! lol

I would have to say my favorite park is Epcot.

Loving your first PTR, can't wait to read morepopcorn::

Yay, another reader! :welcome:, Corrine!

I have not been to any park yet but based on Internet research I would say Epcot is my favourite - this may change after my visit to the World :rotfl: I will let you know if it is suddenly MK, DHS or AK after our trip ;)

I would have to say my favorite park is Epcot.

As of now, I'd say MK is my favorite... but this may change to Epcot after September! I am reeeeaaaaalllly looking forward to being able to tour the WS without my kids! Don't get me wrong, I love my girls. But to be able to go into all the shops and areas of each Pavillion.... it's going to be bliss! :cloud9:

Hi PixieMama, followed you over from my pre-trip report!

Great start, love the idea of a girls' trip to WDW. We ate in the Sci-Fi Dine In on my first trip, was so much fun, loved sitting in the back of a car watching old movies and the milkshakes are to die for!

My favourite park is hard to narrow down, I think it would have to be a tie between Magic Kingdom and Epcot

Hi Pixie

I followed you over from my PTR! An all girls trip sounds like a lot of fun, I am along for your ride! My BFF and I have talked about doing this in the future.

Your ADR's look great!

I thought I would answer your questions. My favorite restaurants at WDW is Le Cellier and Boma, DH and I both loved these our last trip but I have so many that I love! I could go on for hours.

My favorite park is the MK. I just love all the classic Disneyness of it!

I can't wait to read more! popcorn::

:welcome:, MissStitch and blairbear! So glad to have you both along for this crazy ride!

I updated The WHO post to show our names. You can still call me PixieMama if you want to... but I just thought it'd be easier to use our names instead of always typing out "my sister" or "my sister's BFF", etc!

So let me introduce:

Me (PixieMama): Shannon

Mom: Dotti

sister: Heather

sister's BFF: Helen

While I'm waiting on getting input from Mom, Heather, and Helen as to what attractions they want to see/do... I thought I'd post a little update as to why we chose the restaurants for our ADRs. ('Cause if it's one thing I love to talk about, it's food!) popcorn::

When first discussing about taking our trip, I asked the others if they were interested in any sit-down meals. Heather said she didn't think so, as she figured we'd want to spend as much time in the parks as possible... at that time we were thinking about just a 3-day trip. When we bumped up to 4 days and Heather realized the food prices weren't as bad as she originally thought (she said having one $20 or $30 meal a day was fine, she just didn't want to have a $30 meal/ 3x a day) we decided to make ADRs for one TS meal each day.

Then came the part of deciding where to eat! I asked Heather what she thought about eating at the more "adult" friendly places (Le Cellier, for example) since there wouldn't be any kids on this trip. But Heather wanted to keep this trip as fun as possible, since it will be Helen's first visit to WDW (and as I mentioned, Helen is a kid at heart. Actually, she's more like a kid stuck inside a grown-up's body!:lmao:)

First up is our lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe. It was my sister who suggested this place... she remembered me talking about it from my 2010 trip, and how fun I said the place was. When I made our ADR, I noted that we would be celebrating a "First Visit" for Helen (she doesn't know this part!) so hopefully our waiter/waitress will make it fun for her. We think Helen will get a kick out of the servers' antics and the whole vibe of the place. And when they call for the kids the "pony parade", it would not surprise me one bit if Helen participates! :rotfl:

Our next ADR will be for lunch at the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. Mom and I have both been here before (but not together)... this was another restaurant chosen for its atmosphere. And the food, too... Mom and I both think the food is really good.

Helen's one request (so far) is to get a photo of my sister with Eeyore (who is Heather's favorite character). I mentioned to her the only place I knew of where the Pooh characters are guaranteed to be is The Crystal Palace. So the next place for an ADR was a no-brainer. I've been to the CP twice for breakfast; Mom has been there for dinner. We decided to do breakfast on this trip (as it's cheaper).

Our last ADR is for dinner at Boma. I've been there twice, and would go back on any return trip to WDW! I think the food is really delicioius and being at the AKL is a plus. I'm hoping the others will enjoy Boma as much as I do!

Crystal Palace and Boma are two of the restaurants that we are going back to on this trip. I wanted to go back to Sci-Fi, but wanted to try something different so we booked at 50s Prime Time instead....still unsure if I made the right decision though! lol

Lol on talking about food again :rotfl: It sure is an important part of the trip and therefore it is only right to make sure the correct places are chosen :)

Now that our ADRs are secured am trying to forget about them as otherwise I'll probably want to change them again and again and again...:lmao:

I don't think we'd be official "DISers" if we didn't obsess and plan and second guess ourselves! :lmao:

Hi, I'm here! I gotta go back and get caught up, just wanted to sub before I forgot! :rotfl:

Hello, Shannon!

I'm here and can't wait to hear more! popcorn::

Some comments below. :thumbsup2

lunch at Whispering Canyon Cafe

lunch at Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater

breakfast at The Crystal Palace

dinner at Boma

WCC, Sc-Fi, and CP were mostly chosen for the atmosphere. I was at WCC last October and thought it was a hoot... and the Canyon Skillet was yummy! My sister loves all the Pooh characters, so CP was a no-brainer. Mom has been to Sci-Fi and gave it :thumbsup2. And Boma is my all-time favorite, so that one was my "must pick"!

What about you? What's your favorite restaurant at WDW?

These look great!! I really hope to try WCC and Boma one day. Maybe next year!

My favorite TS is probably Wolfgang Puck. It's a must for us every year. However, I have some close 2nds ... and I can only name one restaurant at WDW that I'd never go back to. :lmao:

I give Sci Fi a :thumbsup2 too! ;)

I don't recall seeing anything like that while we were at 50sPTC. Not to say that those things don't happen, but I would think the waiter would not make a person do something they wouldn't want to. At least I'd hope so, LOL!

I'm sure you'll have a good meal and a fun time!

We're trying 50s PTC for the first time this year (and its the ADR I'm most excited for) ... but I think the biggest thing is to remember that it is all done in fun. I really do hope that I get caught for misbehaving and get "punished". But I also hope DH and the kids do as well (not to mention other tables nearby). I think those memories will be some of the best ones we'll have at WDW!

Now that we've decided the dates for our trip, the next step was to determine what parks to visit each day (especially since we are not doing Park Hopper).

However, for this upcoming girls-only trip, we are staying off-site. I've looked at both Touring Plans and Easy WDW... based on the predictions for crowds for the days of our trip, we are visiting:

Epcot on Monday 9/5

HS on Tuesday 9/6

MK on Wednesday 9/7

AK on Thursday 9/8

My next order of business will be to plan out what attractions we want to see and the best times to see them. I think this will be easier said than done, however, since it will be a little difficult to get the 4 of us together. Mom and I live in the same town, but my sister lives about 2 hours away (in one direction) and her BFF lives about 3 hours away (in another direction)!

What's your favorite park: MK, AK, Epcot, or HS?

To start, my favorite park would have to be DHS. But really, its hard to just pick one. Can't I pick all 4? :rotfl2:

Your plans look good. I check 3 different sites for "crowd calendar" and compare the three. Sometimes they all match, sometimes they're complete opposites. Then I just do some basic logic and pick myself.

I can't wait to hear about your list of attractions per park! I know its crazy planning with multiple people to offer input! (I did this in 2009 myself, so have some experience.) I usually stuck to emails, seemed to work pretty well for most things. :lmao: Hope you get it all sorted out easily! :flower3:

I can't wait to read your TR on your WCC lunch!

I love Sci Fi - and only didn't rebook this ADR this year, because we wanted to try something new (50s PTC). So I'll be sad I won't be there, but can't wait for another year when we can go back!

If Eeyore doesn't make a visit during your CP breakfast, look for him in other parks. IIRC, Pooh is getting a new setup at DHS - but haven't heard who will be there with him. I know Pooh & Friends greet in the UK at Epcot - he may be found there as well. And I know he can make appearances at AK - as that's where we found him! Fingers are crossed that he will totally make a visit at CP for you!

I hear such wonderful things about Boma, maybe one day we'll get to try them out. :(

Hello, Shannon!

I'm here and can't wait to hear more! popcorn::

So glad to have you along for my PTR!

I think you'll enjoy 50sPTC! It's a tough choice between that one and Sci-Fi.

I knew the Pooh characters can show up at the UK pavilion but the only place I knew of where we would be guaranteed to see them was at the CP. I didn't know about Pooh and friends being at DHS and AK! That's awesome
!

The Disney blog casually mentions Pooh at DHS here:
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...ke-center-stage-at-disneys-hollywood-studios/

And we met Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore on a small hidden trail on our way to DinoLand. I just happened to look over and saw a Character Spot CM next to a small sign that had Pooh & Friends on it. I asked which characters was available and then walked down the trail. If I hadn't seen the CM, I wouldn't have seen the sign post. (It was from the "hub" on our way to DinoLand - if there's a more technical name for this area, I dunno what it is.)

I'm really looking forward to 50s PTC. I think my biggest issue is what do I want to eat?! It all sounds and looks soooooo delish!

Thanks for the link, Lidian! I hope the characters are still at DHS when we go in September. And I'll be sure to keep my eyes open in DinoLand!

I know what you mean about the food! We had lunch at 50sPTC and I agonized over what to choose! I couldn't decide between the chicken pot pie, the pot roast, or the fried chicken. I went with the fried chicken (asked for green beans instead of southern greens) and it was really good. I can't remember if DH had the pot roast or the meatloaf. Either way, he said his meal was good, too.

I just realized that probably wasn't very helpful.

Here's a photo from my family's 2010 trip:

Thanks, Tanz!

There are 21 more Fridays before I leave for our trip... I figured I could post a pick each week and relive some Disney memories! :goodvibes

The only hard part will be choosing just 21 pics out of the HUNDREDS I have from our two previous trips! :rotfl:
