4 gigs of pics, 3 blisters, 2 pairs of new shoes, 1 bleeding toe = our great trip!

He asked to do it this past June when we went but I didn't feel that he was old enough to really get it...next June he will be much older and I think he would really enjoy the game. He is a very adventurous (spelling) kid.

He will have a blast. I didn't participate a whole bunch - mostly because I was taking the opportunity to take pictures. I also figured this was an adventure that they would have fun figuring out themselves. Germany gave them a bit of a hard time because they were struggling with a building to get to. I pointed them in the right direction and they were off again. I think they liked not having me up their rear ends the entire time also.

Just bumping this up! popcorn::

Thanks Ann! Life got real busy :guilty:.

Just catching up , we were out of town visiting family for a week :) Still disappointed I can't see the pictures in the update before Akershus, hopefully they will show back up sometime ?:confused3

Can't wait for the next update and those beautiful pictures !popcorn::

The pictures will be back up on the 18th - only 7 more days *sigh*.

I fell waaay behind while we were out of town for a week...

Great pics as always :thumbsup2 We didn't end up having time to do the KP mission but I'm not sure that Jean would have really understood it...by the time we go back again she will be a better age for it I think.

A note when the "pre-Akershus" pics will be up again would be good, I missed a lot of the Hollywood Studios ones and I'd love to see them :goodvibes

I sure will post a note :thumbsup2. It's 7 days from today . Such an inconvenience :headache:!!!

I know, I know :rotfl2:. School started as well as soccer practices (times 2) plus Gabriella (my oldest) is in our local theater's production of 'Alice in Wonderland' and has practice 3x's a week . Sometimes I don't know if I'm coming or going. I'll try to get a few more up this afternoon after I get through some of my work!

Be patient :surfweb:.

Time to visit the country of Mexico. Of course, Angelina was alright with this because there is a "ride" inside (she was KILLING me! :rotfl:). Didn't have my tripod today, so dark/handheld pictures are few. Started by taking a few pictures of some handmade wooden trinkets:

Turn around and see such a pretty sight:

and just snapped:

and snapped away:

Gabriella had a few bucks to spend and was looking at these:

617798164_4mhyJ-L.jpg

Which I talked her out of buying - wasn't sure what she'd do with it once we got it home. Wear it on her thumb :rotfl2:?

Listened to the 'band' play a few songs:

617799493_CXgCS-L.jpg

We wandered all through the area checking things out. Gabriella wanted to get something for daddy (she's so sweet like that). He is a fan of all foods that are hot, so I thought SALSA or hot sauce. Found the cart that was selling them, only to pick it up and see it was made in China :lmao:. We got a good laugh at that and wished we had looked in China to see if their stuff was made in Mexico.

Saw this guy give a little girl a clue for her KP mission:

Then it was time to ride Three Cabaleros. We hadn't been on this ride in YEARS! Maybe since Gabriella was 3?. I knew it had been revamped and was looking forward to seeing the updates.

Sorry it's slightly out of focus, dark ride - no flash please :goodvibes.

The girls thought it was funny that Donald was the pinata:

617807798_DW7oN-L.jpg

Wrapped things up from the country South of the border. Walked out to mist. Girls were hungary so we decided to go to the cantina and grab a QS bite to eat. The umbrella'd table area was pretty crowded so we watched like a hawk for a family to leave. Only took a few minutes and we grabbed the table like it was made of gold. Got the girls situated and went and ordered our food. Not sure what I was thinking, but Gabriella and I split a meal and we got Angelina her kids meal.

G and I split an order of nachos - they were typical Disney HUGE - had meat, black beans, lettuce, tomatos, cheese, sour cream and came with packets of 'salsa' which was really taco sauce. Angelina had a chicken quesadilla and french fries. We both got churros for dessert. Once I got back to the table, the heavens opened up and it started POURING!

Thankfully the umbrellas are large enough around the tables that we didn't get wet. Girls thought it was pretty cool that we were eating outside in the rain. I wish it hadn't been raining so I could take some pictures of the food :sad1:, but I didn't want to risk it.

Finally, after about 45 minutes of continuous rain - it had started to slightly let up. We decided we were just going to have to deal with it and decided to give up our table for another family. It was time to solve all thinks askew in Germany with the next KP mission.

Up next - Gabriella gets swindled with a pin swap and we visit the land of cukoo clocks.

I love :lovestruc the Mexico pavillion.

Every trip we eat at the San Angel Inn (even though the food is nothing special, you just can't beat the atmosphere) and make it our first stop in the World Showcase. Love the fisheye shot from the entryway onto the patio---handheld or not, great job! :thumbsup2

The little ride inside is not my favorite anymore. We still go on it just for the sake of doing something in Mexico other than shopping, but in 07 when we went on it---the ride seemed to have nothing to do with Mexico at all :confused3 Obviously, Donald plays a big role in the ride now which is fine, but I'm just not a fan of when attractions that are supposed to be a little bit informational get overly Disney-fied. Maybe I'm the only one, who knows!

Gorgeous pics of Mexico. I really disliked that restaurant but it is SOOO pretty in there.

Thank you :goodvibes. I've read some not so flattering reviews of the restaurant. It smells TDF though - we've never eaten there because of the reviews. Maybe some day.......

I agree, the atmosphere at San Angel Inn is fantastic....have I mentioned how good it always smells :rotfl:. We are big fans of Mexican food - DH especially. I had totally fogotten how the ride went, I was so suprised when it seemed like a Mexican version of Small World. It was a nice change, to be inside of the pavillion, after all the rain we'd delt with all day long.

It was really really bad when we ate there. And we love Mexican food. The food was freezing cold and mushy. And then, back before when the tips were included in DDP, we always wrote in an additional tip amount. Even though the food was terrible, the waitress was fine so we tipped her extra as usual. When we got the statement at the end of the trip, she had apparently written in a whole other amount (and it was an odd amount so it wasn't like a mistake was made). It was only $6-$7 and is wasn't worth my time to fight it but it was still really annoying and totally turned us off the restaurant.

How surprising that the server edited your tip. I can imagine your shock ! That is actually credit card fraud - I would think that Disney would go through leaps and bounds to fix that "mistake" for you.

You are right but taking precious Disney time to deal with it over a few bucks didn't seem important at the time. But if she did that to 100 people a night...think how much money she was making! :scared1: I felt bad afterward that I didn't deal with it.

I'm on a roll today - trying to make up for lost time :goodvibes. Here's another installment for ya!
______________________________________________________________

Our belly's were full and we were recharged. We left Mexico and decided to take one of the Friendship boats across the water to Germany. By now Angelina's toe is starting to hurt. Her band-aide was slippery through her Croc. Man I wish the rain would stop .

While waiting for the boat I snapped a few more pics of the girls:

617984595_uK88x-L.jpg

617983048_MDdTq-L.jpg

Just putting the camera away when a couple from Arizona walks up. She starts telling me that they were watching the girls and how beautiful they were. I thanked her and we started chatting. She said she was a teacher and had won a free trip (I can't remember how). To which her husband starts :lmao: about how expensive their "free" trip really was. She whipped out this great lanyard FULL of nothing but Tinker Bell pins. This was the "trip of a lifetime" for the two of them and she had discovered this addiction. She was telling me about which pin came from where - there were some very cool pins on the lanyard.

The girls got all kinds of excited, because they too had been bitten by this bug, so they pulled out their lanyards to show their prizes. The lady zeroed in on Gabriella's lanyard because she had some Tinker pins on it and was oohing-ahhing over all of the pins. She was telling (teaching) the girls about how some pins were collectables, to only wear the ones that they wanted to trade on their lanyards, put the others away so they could hang on to them.

Chatted a bit longer about the fun that everyone had had trading, blah, blah, blah (excuse my attitude - this story REALLY gets me!) and she then asked Gabriella if she'd like to trade. Of course, she said yes and the woman picked out a Tinker pin that she wanted to add to her collection. She then pulls out a piece of cardboard from her purse and has tiny pins that were pretty cheap looking and says, 'Which one would you like?'.

Here is where my parenting skills go out the window........

Gabriella picked some cheapy pin and traded her WDW Tinker Bell pin that was so cool. The boat pulled up and we all got on - sitting in seperate areas. I look over a Gabriella and she is very quiet and :tears:. I ask her if she regretted trading the pin that she traded. She told me that she did, that she felt that the woman cheated her because she showed such pretty pins on the lanyard and then pulled out the cardboard.

What I did:

 and told her we'd find another one and that I would buy it. Thus far, both girls had spent their own money on their lanyards and pins. I didn't know what the ettiquette was about wanting a pin back, so I said nothing.

What I should have done:

Taken the pin off of her lanyard, marched my soaking wet butt back over to the woman and told her to take her trade and stick it where the sun didn't shine, explaining how she thought she'd get away with pulling one over on a 10 year old and how she should be ashamed of herself.

Oh well live and learn. Gabriella wimpered a bit off and on for the next bit. I assured her that there were pin shops everywhere and that I was sure I'd find it for her and replace it.....after all, being a parent, I'm a superhero and can fix anything, right?????

Get to the other side and exit the boat. Head over to Germany while the girls grab their KP communicator so they can save this country that is in perril. The rain stopped for about 5 minutes so I whipped out the camera and snapped a few pictures. Not terribly proud of them - the place was CROWDED and WET, which meant I wasn't willing to set my camerabag down on the ground while trying to set up the pictures. Basically, I have snapshots.

Took a few of the miniture village with the train tracks:

(*Edit, Mary - you will appreciate that there are zombies walking in front of the Church. When the bells toll, their eyes light up red)

and then snapped a few of the buildings:

617981588_AwAtH-L.jpg

Helped the girls figure out what some of the buildings were called because the language was confusing them. How can you save a whole entire country if you can't read the words :lmao:.

Dashed over to Italy while the girls were finishing up....hey, it wasn't raining :thumbsup2.

By now the rain had tappered off for a bit and we were :cheer2: thinking, MAYBE it's finished!!!!! The country of Germany was saved by my two little girls - took one more photo of them in Italy:

618001348_RBt5M-L.jpg

Wait, what's that???? Oh yeah - it was raining again :furious:. This was turning out to be a LOOOOONG day! Girls went to the Kiosk in Germany and got a new country for their NEXT (this would be #3) Kim Possible Mission. They were given Norway again.

At this point, we'd already been there a few times, so they had a CM override the computer and the International Gateway came up as their pickup country.

Up next - we puddle jump the rest of the way around the world and end up going full circle with a snack......

I have to tell you...if your kiddos were in pain...they hide it really well. Aisling would have been hysterical with drama if she had a blister :rotfl:

What a jerk that lady was! That being said, I would have done the same thing you did. Not worth starting an arguement over it. That being said, I now make Ash leave her "good/special" pins at home or in the hotel and only carry trading pins with her. Too many folks willing to rip off little kids.

It wasn't a blister - is was from the mega cut she gave herself on the resort room door. OUCH!

I forgot to add, that the girls are now only allowed to trade with other kids and CM's. We aren't in this as a swindle to get big money pins for smaller ones, the girls think its fun to see how many different ones there are. I have laid down the law on 1 that Angelina bought. It cost her $15 was an IJones pin that is so big it has 2 pricks to it. I told her that she could buy it but wasn't allowed to trade it. Now it holds her lanyard together at the bottom. It was too wide for the regular width and she always liked to unvelcro it. Two problems solved all at once :rotfl:.

We have a jumbo Snow White one that we do the same thing with!!! Aisling knows she can't trade that one either. I tried convincing her to leave it at home but it does serve the dual purpose of holding the lanyard together!

I just stumbled upon your trip report. What awesome pictures! I can't wait to see the rest of them. What a mean lady trying to take advantage of your daughter like that. Karma..... it's bound to get her.

There is no convincing Angelina :rotfl:. She is a pretty headstrong kid, so I choose my battles. It was enough that I just flat out said - 'you can buy this, you cannot trade this'. I think after what happened to G she understood.

Thank you :goodvibes. My photobucket ones (at the beginning of the report) will be viewable after the 18th of this month. Apparently that is when my cycle begins again :headache:. Went with another hosting site with unlimited bandwidth so all should be good from here on out.

As for the lady, I hope the Karma finds her in a dark alley :furious:! She should be ashamed to do what she did to a child. Some people....you just never expect that at WDW.

That woman should be ashamed of herself! She knew exactly what she was doing!! I hate it when an adult does something like that just because they know that the kids either don't know any better or just plain won't say anything! That's why it's good that some cast members will only trade with kids...gives them a fighting chance!

What a horrible woman! I cannot believe she would do that. I don't think I will ever let Colby trade pins, he is just now getting into them and I would rather just buy him the ones he likes for display.

She kept giggling saying, "I can't believe I just traded pins with a 10 year old!" OOOOoooh, just burns me up!

Cast members are the perfect people. If they have a green lanyard or green square on their belt with pins, those are ONLY for trading with kids. If the lanyard is black they trade with kids or adults. They also cannot refuse a trade with a child. Sometimes the CM's would trade 2 of theirs to 1 of my girls. That was like BONUS, SCORE to them.

I can't believer a women would do that. I was flabergasted when I read that. I have already told my girls the only people that they will be able to trade with when we go are CMs.

The CMs are great! We would be walking and hear one shout, "I see some pin traders over there!" and they would be talking to us. One time Gabriella was trading with one when another one walked over and said, 'what are mine not good enough?' :rotfl:. Then she was trading with both of them. She had such a good time seeking out all the different pins.

One suggestion - you can buy them for $1 off of ebay to get your child started. That's what we did. Pin Trading can become a very hefty expense.
