4 day Itinerary?!

I'm a first timer and I'm a little overwhelmed with all the information and planning that needs to be done. Basically I need someone to tell me what to do. LOL

I've been lurking for a few weeks and at one point I came across someone who had a link to their itinerary in their signature (I think it was here!?) I have a 2, 4 and 6 year old and we will be driving 12 hours to get to DL and doing the 3 day park hopper tickets (is this enough days?) and staying at Portofino. Does anyone have tips, tricks, suggestions or can you link me to where I need to be?

Thanks so much! I am so excited to take my kids to disney it's like I'm a little kid again!!

What dates will you be there? There will be a big difference if it's on- or off-season. As far as your # of days... if you will only be there for 3 days, you won't be able to do all the "big" things in each park, even in the off-peak time. That's our family's experience anyway. If you can extend the trip to at least 5-day hoppers, I would highly recommend that.

Well, really our dates are pretty open to the cheapest and best times. But we're thinking the first of March.

Just my humble opinion ...

For a first visit, I think 4 park days would be better than 3.

And after 12 hours of driving, I think a 4th day will be well deserved.

With your kids ages I would say hit Fantasyland right when the park opens. That will be the area where your whole family can ride everything. The one ride that gets the longest line in Fantasyland is Peter Pan, so I would go on that one sooner rather than later. Don't miss the Winnie the Pooh ride over by Splash Mountain and Buzz Lightyear in Tomorrowland. For your kids ages you'll want to spend some time in Toontown also.

We did 4 days last summer with our baby and (then) 2 y/o. We also had my siblings come who are teenagers to help us out (and to go on rides with us that our kids couldn't go on ) Make sure you go early, DL is not the kind of vacation that you sleep in and go at 10 or 11...it is best to get up and get there at opening. Not as many ppl are there and the lines are VERY short. We went every day at opening, then back to our hotel for swimming or nap, then back to DL until closing. It worked great for us, I also made a daily "plan" of the rides I wanted to get done. I got the book Unofficial Guide from the library and they have great plans in there that I just customized to what we wanted to do.

My parents and 2 siblings did 3 days in the park and saw everything!

We were only 4, 5, and 7 when we went but i think because its disneyland (and if your kidlets are excited they wont want to stop either) i think they will keep on truckin!


DCA doesnt have much to offer the kids except for bugs life and maybe if they are into shows watching Aladdin and seeing the Brother Bear show.. otherwise its mostly big people rides...


But like everyone said, totally hit up fantasyland and toontown, they are the best bet for them to start up a great trip, try working in a circle during your trip so you aren't running from one side of the park to the other, start with fantasyland, then hit toon town, then head over to critter country and the pooh corner area. I've always found it best to move in a circle mainly because it takes vauleable time to get back and forth and with little ones the fastest possible way is always the best way to go

oh! also if you have a lil girl be sure to take her over to Pixie Hollow! I am excited to see that myself, it went in where Ariels Grotto used to be... The faeries take turns with pictures and whos out at what time

I hope you have a BLAST there! the first trips are always the most memorable (i dont think either of my siblings will ever forget how scared they were on our first disney ride... space mountain!! LOL) and the best one for tons of pictures!!


go to town hall right when you enter too and get a list of where there characters are going to be that day and who they are!
