I really do love thunderstorms but they would be so much nicer at a different hour. I've been up since 4:30 a.m.

This wasn't the type you might be able to sleep through. Constant lightning and house jarring thunder. :scared1:

These storms are over for now around here but the weather people say there's an even stronger round coming in later today. Anyone else get a rude awakening this morning?

Roberta

I got my thunder storm wake up call at about 3:30. They were really something out. I don't think I've ever seen that much lightning. The thunder was so loud that it made several car alarms go off, and we lost power briefly twice. It was something else.

I must be west of the two of you, cause it was more like 3 am for us! Boy was it loud! We turned the AC on to drown it out.....that didnt really help...then we lost power about 3 times!

6:40AM=Right now They're still rolling through the Cape..now I know my old dog is deaf, cause he used to shake and hide under the bed, but he's still on the floor in my room, didn't move a bit. (and yes he's still alive!)

4:45 am here in Mid-Maine..... My 7 year old just went back to sleep..... My dog isn't usually scared of storms but this one shook her. It lasted over an HOUR here....... don't remember the last one we had like that.

I started around 2-2:30am in Nashua. During the storm I had to get a shower and get to work! I think I heard you shouldn't shower during a lightning storm - but I had no choice. I waited as long as I could.

The drive into Boston was not fun this morning. If you call 3-4am morning, that is. Lightning all around, downpours - I was scared to death!:earseek:

4:20 for us here in the next town over from Roberta. It was WILD. Poor DS was shaking he was so scared. The finally calmed down enough for us to snooze a bit after 5:45 or so (last time I remember seeing on the clock). We almost lost power once.

Stronger ones coming???:earseek:

Yes, that storm was wild. I dreamed i was sitting in an old fashioned lawn chair and there were sparks coming from it everytime it lighteninged.
I was so tired last night that they didn't bother me too much. They did sound as if they were directly over my house. My oldest daughter went downstairs to sit with my dog who hates thunder. she said he was calm, but wouldn't let her leave his side.

They passed by here at 5:45...perfect timing for me to get up and start the day... It looks like the sun is trying to come out now!

Add me to the list of Massachusetts DISers who were rudely awoken in the middle of the night due to LOUD thunderstorms! I live in the town next to Roberta and Debbie, so it must've hit our area at the same time.

Yikes...It had been a long time since a thunderstorm had woken me up, but I even jumped a couple of times!! DH just left to go to work, DSs are having breakfast...I think I'll try and get a little more sleep.

Hey Roberta and Debbie, interested in joining our painting party this weekend?? LOL We're painting our house tomorrow!! :teeth: :wave2: Fortunately we have a bunch of friends helping us so that will make the job much easier! :grouphug:

same here, thunderstorms are so romantic but not when they wake you up

2:30 am for me, too. And of course the dogs both HAD to go out. And then I couldn't get back to sleep. Now it looks like it's going to be a nice day.

Jason, they are romatic if they wake you and your sweetie up together!

About 2:30 here in Derry. What a way to wake up! Almost fell out of bed!!!Love thunderstorms...but not when I am sleeping.

4am for me, my sone slept through it all, I jumped up shut the windows and went back under the covers, the cat coward under the bed, I didn't fall back to sleep. have a GREAt day everyone :D

4:10 for me...DD slept through the whole thing. Of course, by the time it ended I had 15 minutes until the alarm went off. UGH!!!!

Here in Rhode Island it was at about 4:15. I agree those were some serious storms. It was even hailing pretty hard for a while. It lasted a long time too. I had three kids and my husband in bed with me last night in a room with the windows all closed and with no electricity we had no fan or A/C - not comfortable at all. My oldest DD kept waking me up to tell me she couldn't go back to sleep after they stopped so I'm not feeling very peppy this am.

I heard these go though this morning too, but we were just at the south edge and it was not too bad for us. Some people here at work who live north of me in CT said it was bad at their homes though.

2:30ish here, just outside of Manchester, NH. I felt like I was in Florida with all the rain. And it might have well been light outside, with the way the lightning was hitting. Didn't sleep much last night.

Yup, here too...they started around 3:15am and lasted almost an hour! I couldn't sleep though them~ it was the "make the house shake" kind of thunder!! We lost power once, very briefly! This afternoon should be interesting.....hail is expected too! Did you see a house in Hingham caught on fire from being struck by lightening and a DPW worker in Lincoln was struck yesterday? The DPW is supposed to make a full recovery, thank goodness!

2:30 here in Maine. My 70lb dog woke me up when he dived up under the covers and squished himself up so close to me!
