4 a.m. - are you kidding me?!?!?!??!?!?

Well, my kids (DS & DDIL) knew what they were in for when they went into retail management. But you won't see me anywhere near a store on Black Friday. I agree, you either love it or hate it.

Last year, we went to a nearby outlet mall on Thanksgiving night - their stores opened at 11pm and stayed open all night. It was great! We went around midnight, shopped until around 130am, ate IHOP, and were in bed by 3am. We drove past a Target, Kohls, JCPenney, and Best Buy on our way home that had lines around the building.

I've done the early morning Black Fri once as a teenager and it's not my cup of tea.

I wil be making stops at 2 stores at 4 am and then one more at 6 am and then I'm done with black friday.

LOL, I will be shopping online that day. Our Best Buy ALREADY has people lined up for the Black Friday sale..I was like WTH? You are gonna sit outside in the cold rain for TWO days for what?! Crazies lol..

I'll be up and out and I can't wait! My mom and I black Friday shop every year and we LOVE it! The year before last I got my BEAUTIFUL $350 prelit Christmas tree for $75! We think it's fun and exciting and have never had a bad experience :goodvibes

Same here - I love it! I'll be starting tomorrow night at Michael's at 5 pm. :thumbsup2

Of course, I will go home and get a few hours of sleep, but most of my sleeping will be done Friday after I'm done shopping. :woohoo:

I love BF. But seriuosly these hours are totally getting out of hand.

The outlets across town are opening at 12:01 AM. Seriously I got an e-mail saying their door busters run from 12:01 to 3 AM - WTH????!!! And last year the line of cars waiting to get off the highway and into the outlets backed up 5 miles on the highway by 10 PM on Thanksgiving.

And can you imagine people started lining up at coach at NOON! :scared1:

No way no how am I going there.

I'm just glad I don't have to drive by there to get to a relative's house on Thanksgiving. Oh yeah or to get to Target by 5 AM :rotfl:

I remember working at Best Buy and Circuit City never again. The training for Black Friday was crazy. I got lucky I was working at Homegoods and I did have come in until 4:00 p.m. I got easy shift during that time.

I am so glad I teaching now. I will be home in bed during those times.

Wow I didn't think there was anything on sale at BB worth that.

I don't think its so bad for these stores to be open that early, I mean if people are willing to go and shop, then why not. Me, I'll still be dipping into the sauce at 2AM, no Black Friday shopping for me :lmao:

Same here. Some of my all-time favorite memories with my mom were made standing in line. I hope to someday enjoy the tradition with my own daughter. :goodvibes

These two schedules combined would work for me. I'm more of a stay up all night person, than get up early, with not enough caffeine and be pushed & shoved and reached over :crowded::crowded: by someone else who didn't have enough caffeine either. It 's the epitome of "Shop till you drop!" Finally get home, loaded down with packages and flop into bed.

Wow and all I gotta do Friday is get up at 4:30 a.m. and go to work at a hospital. ;):upsidedow

If there's something I want and I know I need to be there at opening then I will.

I went with a friend (because I would never let her wait there alone, and she was going to) to Best Buy last year at 8PM ON Thanksgiving to get in line for the opening of a laptop she really wanted that geniunely was really cheap. We weren't the first in line. They only had 8 available and we were #7.

Crazy.

I too think it is ridiculous. I feel sorry for those sales associates who not only have to put up with some desperate, violent and slightly loony customers, but also have to start work in the middle of the night. Sleepy minimum-wage workers, plus angry customers, equals problems all around :sad2:

I agree.

Do you think any of those crazies last year felt bed when they knocked that Walmart employee over and trampled him? Doubtful. too focused on their cheap TV's. :sad2: Real sick!

I hope nothing tragic happens on Friday. But it seems to be inevitable every year.

I'll stick to online shopping.

It was on the news a few days ago, that Walmart changed their store opening policies on Black Friday. I think they might have hired more security and will open their doors differently, or funnel shoppers in differently.

I've thought of that poor soul several times this past week while watching commercials for Friday's sales. :sad2: Like you, I stick with online shopping. In fact, everything for everyone in my family has already arrived. Love it!!!

Maybe they can do something like they did with the laptops at Best Buy... get the big ticket items and start a ticketing system. The first person there gets #1 and so on and when they're out, they're out.

Exactly. This is how it works with almost every store in my area. I have to say, I've never experienced a Black Friday that wasn't highly organized and efficient. I've never seen running, shoving or violence. I'm sure my experience is the exception, but it does happen.

Forgot to add, police are always present at the entrances of the headliner stores.

I would think people would just be mugged out in front of the store for their ticket. Crazy people are crazy people. :sad2:
