4 a.m. - are you kidding me?!?!?!??!?!?

I'd rather pay more and not have to deal with the herds than go shopping on black Friday. There are people that love it but it isn't for me.

I do the vast majority of my shopping online throughout the year anyway so why should my Christmas shopping be any different.

I'm pretty much done with my Black Friday shopping. Went into Target tonight and spent $750.00 on BF items. :santa: Will go back Friday later in the day to get price adjustments. Also took advantage of some of the online pre-sale BF prices. I might just get to sleep in this year!

The Disney Store that I work at is opening up at midnight, I think most are actually. Just got home from work, getting everything ready for the crazy shopping day.

As for going out on BF, I did it last year, but none of the early stuff. Everywhere that we went still had plenty of the door busters that we wanted at 10am when we were out.

Oh gosh... I totally forgot about the Disney store, lol. Last year the one by me only let in a certain amount of people at a time and there was a long line to get in. Alike to a lot of Disney things, I waited in line to get some Wall-E stuff.

I've worked Black Friday every year for too many years to remember. The last 3 years I've had to be in at 3 a.m. for a 4 a.m. opening. I just got an email from my supervisor that we will be opening 1/2 an hour earlier than advertised, so to plan on being there at 2:30:sad2:. I do Thanksgiving dinner, but usually end up going to bed before dessert :(

lol, I get up at 4am everyday I go to work. There are a lot of us on the road at 5am - working. Why wouldn't people get up early to save loads of money?

I used to be a part time cashier supervisor in a grocery store. One year the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving we had someone come in to buy 30 turkeys close to store closing at midnight then he had no money to pay for them. After working grocery stores the day before Thanksgiving and predicted snowstorms I love being a customer on Black Friday.

My mom, sister, her friend, and I go out shopping Black Friday. My older niece stays with my kids (all are asleep) while my dh and father do a quick run to Ace Hardware, Radio Shack, and Staples. We may want something specific but refuse to leave before 4am so we don't usually expect to get the real big items. We do however find it fun to stand in line talking to friendly strangers as we drink store provided hot chocolate and hearing about who wants to buy what. Then there is the thrill of the mad rush to see if we have a chance at getting certain items but not in a way that we would run people down or anything like that. We also have no problem helping other people look for items if we aren't trying for anything special.

I think if you are overly serious shopper it isn't fun and if you hate the idea of going it probably isn't fun either. However if you go with the right mindset it can be a lot of fun especially if you don't get upset by not getting the big ticket items.

for our store, we are not honor price adjustments on black friday, so I hope you checked when you bought them just to make sure! a lot of stores will not honor them.

Same here - I love it! I'll be starting tomorrow night at Michael's at 5 pm. :thumbsup2

Of course, I will go home and get a few hours of sleep, but most of my sleeping will be done Friday after I'm done shopping. :woohoo:

Awesome! Happy hunting tomorrow morning! Hope you find everything you want at prices we poor folks can actually afford!:thumbsup2

If there's something I want and I know I need to be there at opening then I will.

I went with a friend (because I would never let her wait there alone, and she was going to) to Best Buy last year at 8PM ON Thanksgiving to get in line for the opening of a laptop she really wanted that geniunely was really cheap. We weren't the first in line. They only had 8 available and we were #7.

Crazy.

It must be the location where you live. Our stores run out of doorbusters really fast, but last year we went to a small suburb in Milwaukee and their Targets and Walmarts had a lot of doorbusters early in the morning yet, so we leaving Fond du Lac, to go shopping down in Milwaukee. Plus there is an awesome mall that is never packed, everyone goes to the higher profile mall closer to the inner city.

I don't have anything specific to buy, but the stores in the mall's usually have great sales till 11:00 a.m., so we like to hit Aeropostle, American Eagle and all those stores for great bargains. Last year my dd convinced me to purchase a "love sack" for 1/2 the price that they normally go for. She has it now it her apartment she shares with 3 other girls.

I think some people just enjoy it - like they would a sport or going out to lunch with a friend or whatever..:)

But for those who are doing it to get the "deals", stay home and sleep.. You can either get the same (or better) sales online or the closer it gets to Christmas, you'll find those same items at an even better price.. No need to drag yourself out of bed and fight the crowds..:thumbsup2

For my sister and I, it is tradition!!! We will be ni line at Kohls at probably 3 am (4 am opening), hit ShopKo, then on to the mall. I am the driver, because my sister can't deal with traffic, but it isn't a big deal for me. Lunch is always at Red Lobster. This year I probably won't be able to hold out at long as I usually do (I am 7 months pregnant), but I will still be out, with my snacks and water by my side to keep my energy up! I had a doctor's appointment yesterday, and the doctor laughed at me for going out, but told me to have a good time!

I don't get old navy opening that early when their sales aren't even that good. $15 for jeans? I can do better than that on their clearance rack any old day of the year.

That doesn't necessarily gibe with most shoppers' work schedules. If a store normally opens at 10 but instead opens at 8 and the shopper needs to be in work at eight...

Even on Black Friday, many people work a normal workday. Sure, lots of companies are closed but many are open as well. NOT that I'm going out at 3 AM, but opening extremely early enables even those of us who are working Friday to shop for deals.

Exactly! I'll be up shopping before heading in to work.

And when I worked retail, I would have much rather worked the early shift, but I always got stuck working the late one.

I guess I don't understand why people care? If you don't have to go and you don't have to work in one of the stores... why does it matter? If you want to sleep... then sleep. If you want to get up and go shopping... then do that :confused3

As for the person who was killed at WM... that probably would have happened even if they opened later. Sometimes people are disgusting.
