4.33 years is WAY too long between visits!

And that was my initial plan...and it's a good jumping off point. However, since then I have made some changes. Actually I think I am on my 5th re-writing of the venue/ADR list.

So I changed my Ohana and Hollywood & Vine ADRs around for breakfasts...just made more sense for park touring. But now we have Ohana for breakfast and dinner on the same day. Which I am not too worried about since the food and experiences are both very different.

I added Be Our Guest for breakfast on the 23rd...but I am not thrilled by it. I think I just jumped on the bandwagon but I want to wait until it gets closer and I read more reviews and see if I keep it or not. DDDP values wise, it's great but I am not thrilled by the choices...and I'd NEVER pay that out of pocket for what they are offering! It's also an 8am ADR so it might have some advantages but I think the park will open at 7am or 8am everyday at the time so maybe not. This one may end up being cancelled since we have a dinner ADR already.

I added a Boma breakfast on the 27th...just because I had extra credits after cancelling Brown Derby...BOG would change that. But I think if it came down to one or the other I'd choose Boma...but that is the only ADR we've ever had a difficult time getting to for an early visit...so that might weigh on me.

I also added Garden Grill on the 29th for breakfast. We have never been to Garden Grill because the food has never sounded like things we (as a family, not me!) would get our money's worth out of. But, breakfast is another story. And Chip and Dale don't appeal anywhere else anymore (they ised to be at Cape May but I don't believe they are anymore) and they are always a lot of fun. Plus it is on an EMH day at Epcot so if we get to Epcot for rope drop we can ruin the race to Soarin' at rope drop and ride before our 9am ADR. I still have not cancelled my Grand Floridian Café ADR for this meal though because if I hear horrible things about breakfast once it starts, I can still have another option.

And I added Captains Grill on the 31st...just because I could. We're in Epcot that day so it worked best. Couldn't get Garden Grill for this day.

I think I might be a meal over now, as it stands but I haven't counted.

In regards to it being a lot of food...we know and we love it. We love to go out to eat but due to budget, we don't do it a lot and when we do it's not usually all of us together. And when we are able, we are always under price restraints and the kids are limited to ordering...as am I. I am usually the one to sacrifice the thing I really want so someone else can have what they want. And on vacation we don't want to have to do that! For two weeks we will stuff ourselves silly and order what we want and love every minute of it!

The plan I used is a basic idea of what we would order. Ideally, I'd like us to all order different appetizers and desserts so we can try many things. Cary and I intend to share entrees so we can try different things. Skye will only order separately if she is really hungry or doesn't like anything else others are getting. She sometimes eats a ton and other times her eyes are bigger than her stomach. So we may or may not use her extra OOP meal. Of course, if everyone is ion the mood for the same thing on the same day at the same meal, so be it. I would love to try different things because I am sure the chefs make other wonderful things to eat than my old standbys but I may find some things hard to resist (like the filet at Jiko) so I might not make that reality. And we do really tend to want to order from the higher end of the menu when we are dining out...we just usually don't...in the World in the Deluxe Dining Plan, we will!

I also don't think it's too much time out of our day. Dining is part of the trip. It's a time out of the crowds, to relax and regroup. Plus eat. I think, especially at this time of the year, we will spend a lot of time standing in line at a counter service venue and then finding a seat so by the time all is said and done, we probably will not spend too much more time dining at a table service venue unless we want to.

My biggest dilemma is dress. I do not want to attend a meal at a signature meal in our park clothes but I really don't want to carry them around all day or waste time looking for a locker. We are not usually "go back to the room in the middle of the day" kind of people but I am kind of re-thinking that this time around. I think early morning and late evening might be our best bet for being able to do as much as we want to. Plus we tend to have early morning breakfasts and late night dinners. So I am thinking head to park at opening, breakfast, fast pass pluses before lunch, lunch and then back to the room for a nap and/or swimming/hanging out. Then getting refreshed and heading back out either just before dinner (on those days we have an earlier one) or head back to near dinner and play for a while and then head to dinner...after dinner would be either back to bed or head to whatever park is open late. I think we might have to play it by ear though and that makes it hard to plan...what to do, what to do???

And in good news...I am planning on paying off the trip and dining before the end of the month!!!! That is when it will really seem real! I told Skyler I would not purchase anything for the trip until I knew it was paid off and I knew we were going!!! That will make is seem so much more real. I think I have had so much disappointment and changes lately that are so out of my control that I just won't believe it is happening until it is paid for...and even after that I will probably harbor a little concern that something will cause us not to be able to go. We all need this trip SO badly, I can't even stand it!

The boys got their schedules on Wednesday but I have yet to look at them with the last years testing schedule (they are usually the same) to see what classes each will be testing on the 18th (the day they will be missing)...I am hoping for gym and lunch but their lunches are 4th and 5th so I am betting at least one of them will not have lunch on the 18th. But if it were gym and lunch they would only have one class actually testing and often Tyler's classes have actually finished testing before test day or it was a project that needed to be done. Hoping there is not any problems with testing.

So, now I am onto day planning to make sure my ADRs will work with the evening shows/parades. I think they all will but I have not really sat down and put it all out there to make sure. And there will not be a lot of wiggle room with Main Street Electrical Parade and Illuminations so hoping we don't hit unusual weather on those days and things get cancelled. Wishes we should be good for (should get to see the MVMCP fireworks form California Grill on our first night) and usually there are two showings so we can catch the later one after dinner. But MSEP tends to be right at our dinner time...I actually changed the time of our Kona Café dinner on the 23rd to make sure we can see it that day. Fantasmic I have schedules twice (yes we like it that much). Illuminations we should be able to see on NY Eve if no where else but I have to look at that...it might be kind of a play it by ear when dinner is getting over right when it is starting on a few other nights.

I also think we will be spending New Years Day in the World because we have ADRs for that day and we don't have to be back until Monday. So that might be an option for Illuminations too. I think we will book a cheap motel somewhere in the area just to get a decent night's sleep in before we head home in the morning.

Well, that's where we stand right now. Things are changing around here all the time. Tyler now has a job at Little Caesars, football practice, and school starts in 12 more days (yes I am counting down and am excited about it! Don't worry, my kids are excited too!). Skye is scheduled for 11 dance classes this year (four days a week), tumbling twice a week (the other two week days), has Nutcracker auditions next weekend and is hoping to get 3 or 4 parts this year and that practices every Saturday and/or Sunday until the show the wee before we leave for vacation, and is starting junior high where she is hoping to be on student council, track, volleyball, ballroom dance, and choir (and she is in the magnet school part of the school so he has advanced classes too!). Dylan is seeing a therapist and going to see a doctor about possible meds next week. He had a horrible week last week where he expressed to his therapist that he did not want to live with us anymore. He tried to get his grandmother to take him but she refused...knowing he needs to deal with his issues and learn from them. After he got home, I'm not going to lie, all heck broke loose, but I think that was what he needed because through all the yelling and crying something clicked. Through it all, I think he was finally ready to hear, really hear, what we were saying, put the blame where it belonged, accept consequences, and realize that no one was against him. after our ordeal, he apologized to Cary and me for all he has been doing and said he is going to try to behave and earn his way out of being grounded and in trouble all the time. He told us he does not hate us and he does not want to leave. And proceeded to clean his room, wash his floor, shower, and do his laundry. And so far, life has been a bit less dim at home. He is excited about school starting and is determined to prove to his Algebra teacher that he does not need "support classes" (partially because he doesn't and partially because that means two hours of Algebra a day an no one except Tyler wants that!). He is also determined to do his time and get out of his room...early if possible. I don't know about that...we did have to put up with A LOT of issues and he broke a lot of trust that has to be rebuilt but we're not going to rule it out. Cary's store got bought by a franchise about a month ago and he was kept on but a week ago he was fired. Because they did not like him, his nationality, or his very old record. It's bull really but it's not a job worth going thru the hassle and expense to pursue litigation. And he called his old boss (the one from before he was bought ) who still runs many other stores and got hired back there the same day with the potential to actually make more money with less responsibility in a store where the employees actually do their job. He has been very happy for the past week. And I am trying to work as many hours as humanly possible while they are offering. In the 15 years I have worked here they have offered limited OT once for a day. I'm taking advantage of it while I can!

So off to plan more...park day are next I think. I generally don't plan ride-to-ride or hour-to-hour but fast pass plus coupled with the time of the year we are going is making me think I need to plan a bit more than I usually do...so here I go...

So today I added the upgrade to deluxe dining to our reservation thru my online travel agent and when to pay off my balance...and she advised me to notify the bank of the large withdraw...so I called and found out I had a limit on my debit card...I had no idea...good thing I hadn't even gone to make a large purchase in a store where my card would have been denied! But anyway, I have to have my limit increased, which is no problem except that even though the rest of the funds were a direct deposit and available for use right now they have not been connected to the account yet in whatever way the bank needs them to in order to increase my limit of daily spending. I can write a check or go to the bank and pull the cash out but I cannot use my cash card for that sum of money...sounds pretty silly to me! So now I can't officially say I've paid off my trip until tomorrow (or the next day as he said it could take 24 - 48 hours for this to happen completely).

I can't get truly truly truly excited about it until it's paid for!!!!

I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!!!

Paid in full...confirmation in hand!

It feels so good to know that in 126 days we are leaving for The World!

120 days from right now I will be waiting on kids to get released from school to start our drive south!!!!

I'm getting more and more excited!
The kids have their first day of 6th grade (new junior high), 9th grade (new high school), and 11th grade today. As usual, Ty and Skye are excited (not the "I'm going to Disney World tomorrow" excited but excited none the less!) but Dylan, not so much. I'd think he'd be happy just to be out of the house without a bodyguard.

With the trip paid off, I am starting to save for the cost of the rental mini-van next as I figure that is the next most important thing because if we can't get there, nothing else matters right?!?!? Then will be the upgrade to Annual Passes (which I have calculated to be just under $1200.00...please, someone correct me if I am wrong) and then tips. I think I want to have an envelope made out for each meal with the approximate amount in it that I figured the tip would be. I think that might be easier to keep track of. If it's less (which I don't expect) good, if it's more, we'll have some extra cash around. But I think my figuring will be pretty accurate. We shall see!

My overtime has been wonderful We are in the sixth week now. I have worked everyday in the last six weeks for at least five hours per day...usually closer to 10 or 12. It is starting to drag me down and I am feeling a bit congested but I know I will miss the pay checks when they are not around so I am trying to suck up as many hours as I can while I can. As soon as dance starts (mid- September) I will not be able to do as much. Initially, they said this would be for 6 weeks...now they are saying it might be indefinite! So if I can keep on doing major OT (even if it isn't quite as major as it is right now) Vacation saving should be a breeze!

Skye had Competition Dance Team Auditions last week and made Jazz and Lyrical Performance (which is the highest two classes) so she will be dancing with 18 year olds! She also had Nutcracker Auditions last Saturday and is waiting on call backs (Thursday or Friday for call backs on Saturday) and she is pretty confident she got three parts (Party Girl (she was that last year), Mother Ginger, and a Flakette) but she'd really like Chinese too. They also audition at her size for an Adult Soldier but I think that is more for the taller girls in her size group...but she has been a Toy Soldier in the past so that would be a fun, full circle kind of a part!

Football is in full swing and Tyler's first game is next Friday night.

Dylan, well, is Dylan. There hasn't been as much trouble in our home as in the past but there is something he does not understand about being grounded...and the words "do not come out of your room". The doctor cancelled his first appointment do it has been rescheduled for next Wednesday so hopefully that will be fruitful and he has another therapist visit on next Saturday. School is going to bring about a whole new level of problems. A major one being that the school issues each student lap tops in lue of most books. But you can access external sites. Well, obviously, being grounded, Dylan is not allowed facebook and games and such but it is so hard to regulate. He is also not allowed contact with his extremely bad influence of a brother and facebook is a favorite of h so that's another reason it's not allowed. This kid baffles me!

Cary is loving his new job however does not like the drive but it is what it is. His boss has been scheduling his for 40 hours among 4 days so that saves on gas and driving a bit. He is starting to get excited. I don't think he ever thought he'd be going on a trip like this and so doesn't know what to expect. Skyler is trying to "Disucate" him but I think her enthusiasm gets him all discombobbled and he loses focus...which makes her mad. It's almost amusing to watch.

So kids back to school, school supplies, school clothes, dance classes sign up and auditions, Nutcracker auditions...those were some of my biggest hurdles in getting to vacation and as of today those are DONE! Next huge hurdles are dance classes starting, Nutcracker practice every weekend with performances on December 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14th, and football being over...all that leads to vacation!!!

It's getting closer and it's getting more real and it's getting more paid for!!!! I have started picking up little things here and there that we will need and thinking about clothes and dining needs and such. I am trying to plan so that everyday we don't necessarily match but we at least are dressed complimentarily to each other for nice looking pictures! I bought the boys some Star Wars t-shirts for $5.00 at Walmart for our first Hollywood Studios day and Skyler has a Yoda one already ("Size matters not") so I am the only one without Star Wars clothes but I am not really a t-shirt kinda gal so I might just grab one of the adorable Chewbacca hair bows at Hot Topic and wear brown that say...Disbounding as Chewy! I think we might di a dress up night on our first night at California Grill since we will be back at the room before dinner so we could all change...I have not decided for sure yet though.

We are all starting to get so excited!

Hey Sherry! YAY for almost everything being paid in full - and your trip is so soon now!!! I've been reading your PTR (although I haven't been able to get through ALL of it just yet ) But all of your plans and ADRs sound great :goodvibes Disney World is going to be so beautiful at Christmas time, I'd love to see it one day. I'm excited to hear all about it :goodvibes

Hi Katie! I've been reading your PTR and TR and I am so jealous! And that you have a three week Disney extravaganza coming up so soon! We have been in THE World in the end of November thru the beginning of December and then January 1st thru mid January before so the whole Christmas thing won't be new for us (well, most of us) but being there for the actual holidays will be. And it will all be new for Cary and Dylan and our newish family!

And today is 110 days to arrival (109 form the day we leave which is what my actual countdown on my phone is since that IS when vacation really starts...well, I will probably be in vacation mind from the time I walk out of work the day before but we'll go to leaving day!)!!!!

Last night we got the boys Marvel t-shirts for a Marvel day for $5 at Walmart...I'm not very into Marvel but Cary is and the boys are a bit...but I am not used to them being Disney yet, it still feels weird! We also found Skye a Minnie Mouse and a Loin King tank...both from the ladies dept so I will have to do some tacking back on the top but she's used to that because she's so little...but they were $5 and $3!!! And at Sam's Club they had these ladies pink striped long sleeve t-shirts that are Cheshire Cat colors (I love me some Ches!) so Skye and I got them (she has not tried hers on yet but I may have to tack this one too) so now we're going to be checking out all the Halloween stores for Pink Cat ears that match and we're gonna Disbound as Ches...maybe on our 1900 Park Fare day! We also got Frozen wrapping paper to wrap our vacation box in (for all our pre-packing gathering). She loves Olaf and likes the movie but that wasn't our first choice (and I am in the camp of love the movie but I don't get the craziness and don't like how it has overtaken everything in the parks especially Norway!)...but there was not much to choose from. We also grabbed the boys some 2 in 1 body and hair AXE for the trip and some chewable Dramamine (Ty used to get sick at about 6 hours into a long drive...not sure if it will happen but I'm saying better safe than sorry!). I got the information on the boys' for school. On December 1st they need to go to the Dean's office and pick up forms to release for vacation. We fill it out and attach a note of what they need and they take it back. The dean will sign off on it and it then goes to the teachers to initial and set up the early taking of their tests. They will miss the last day before Christmas Vacation which is their last day of finals because we are leaving after school on Thursday. She assured me there would be no problem. I have not broached the subject with Skyler's school yet and am contemplating just calling her in sick that last day. We had open house last week and since she is in the Academy side they made a point of saying vacations will be marked unexcused. And unexcused days they are not allowed to make up the work. Now every other year that last day they do absolutely nothing (when Dylan was at that school but not in the Academy all they did was watch movies!) so I'm not really worried about that but she will be missing the Thursday, Friday, and Monday prior to that for Nutcracker field trip performances and I think they mark those unexcused...so, while I am not too worried about it because I know that she is getting so much more out of experiencing all that goes into the performance she is involved in that three days of 6th grade, I don't want her to not be able to make up work. It is what it is and she gets awesome grades so I'm not too worried about it but if I can call her in sick and have it be one less unexcused day, I just might do that. But I might also be taking her out early on Thursday depending on when the boys get out...soooo??? Who'd have thought 6th grade would be harder than honors/AP classes in Junior Year of high school??? Skyler is planning "to Disney" when I get home from work today so I might have more to talk about tomorrow!

In real life...

Skyler had auditions and call backs for Nutcracker. She was called back for Party Girl (she was this last year), a Snow Crystal, a Chinette, and Mother Ginger. Last year they created the 9th Party Girl role for her because she was in between sizes (casting is done by height) and was too tall for the 52 and under group and too short for the 53 and over group. So she was the Little Party Girl that was wanting to be like the big girls. She loved that part...plus that is the part that gets groomed for Clara and THAT is the part she really wants! So now we wait. She wants all of them...the year before last she was a Toy Soldier and a Jester and an understudy for the Angels...last year just a Party Girl because of the size thing so she was kinda bored...the girl loves to be busy! We should be hearing this week because the parent meeting is the 12th and then rehearsals start...keep your fingers crossed! She is loving her new school. She's had homework everyday (even on the weekends!) and she loves it! She has her last tumbling class on Tuesday for the session and then gets a week off...before dance and tumbling and Nutcracker begin again!

Tyler's football team lost their first game on Friday night...12-6...to a team they really should have beat...the only team they beat last year...ya, they are not a great team. We did not get home form the game until after midnight! It was brutal...but it is what it is! He has an interview for Spirit Halloween yesterday and would LOVE LOVE LOVE to work there so he's really hoping for a call back. His classes are harder this year but are things he really likes (AP US History, Honors Chemistry, Honors Advanced Algebra, and Engineering Graphics...he hates AP English) so that's good. He has practice everyday after school until 6pm and works about 8-12 total hours on the weekends. He is planning on Scholastic Bowl again this year and adding Mathletes back. He was on a team in junior high but while he is awesome at math he is not quick enough so he did not want to do it in high school but now his math teacher is one of the coaches and "she's hot" so he's willing to give it a go...you know, not that Math is his favorite subject or that he's good at it or that it will look good on a college application...just because one of the coaches is hot.

Dylan is actually really loving school this year. He decided on what appears to be a whim (although he had been going back and forth about it for years) to join football and sounds like even though he had to work his way into full pads and cannot play in a game until next week because of joining so late, he is really liking just being part of the team. The freshmen do not get permanent numbers they just get given a jersey for the game and get what they get but he ended up with #18 which happens to be Tyler's number (has been since he was 5)...it was kinda funny! The freshmen team actually won their game on Saturday...he got to do the chain gang. He had his visit with the doctor and got some meds for depression. He has not had any negative side effects and appears to be feeling good. Seems to be following rules even though I am sure it is killing him that he has his school issued lap top sitting downstairs that he's not allowed to use except for school work. We are not aware of sneaking out of his room or of anything being touched that was not supposed to be. He has seemed to be in a better mood lately and not so argumentative. He also wants to join Scholastic Bowl after football and so far has 100% in all his classes.

Cary and I are just trying to not forget someone somewhere, make sure everyone has food on a daily basis and trying to not get too over powered with the build up of chores not being done while I am working between 60 and 70 hours a week, he is driving an extra hour and a half each way to work 4-5 days a week, Skye is at the gym two days a week, and the boys leave the house at 6:40am and 7:40 am and done get home until after 6pm everyday! Because of Labor day, I will have a 32 hour week the week after so it will feel like a vacation and part of me is really looking forward to it but part is gong to miss the extra cash! But I believe we will be going back to OT after that so it will still work out. I am trying to diet do that before vacation I can feel better but I have good days and bad ones. I am in the market for a cheap but good printer because the kids (especially Skyler) need to be able to print off work for school and her school is really odd about that stuff...we already had a run in with the Science teacher. I would like to be able to have an SD slot and for the kids to be able to hook up their laptops easily, ink to not be too expensive for refills and am hoping there is one that you can insert a flash drive into and print from if that exists. Anyone have suggestions? We are also thinking about buying a Dodge Caravan...preferably new. I have never bought a new car that I wanted before. I almost always have gotten a resale from my parents. I have never has a car payment. I'm not sure I want to take that plunge??? I do really like them though and we saw a really cool looking one in the mall parking lot the other day that even Cary liked and he was a little on the "but it's a minivan" side of things. I think he's happy with that choice now that we've been investigating. Any opinions? Advise? And we've started season 4 of Once Upon a Time on Netflix...we have been waiting for more! Skye was very excited to see Anna and Elsa!

ANd that's all I have for now...if Skye gets her way, I should have more to report tomorrow...happy planning!

106 more days...

And I am getting my first day off on Saturday (actually Sunday and Monday too and the following Saturday) and only a 32 hour work week next wee since beginning to do overtime (20-30 hours OT per week!!!) for the last 7 weeks....and while I will miss the huge pay check for that pay period, BOY AM I LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!!!!

But the following week, my life of hell starts and I don't know if I'm going to be able to pull out as much OT. You see, September 12th is Homecoming. I have yet to see a Homecoming parade or football game because it is also the Parent Meeting for Nutcracker. Skyler got cast as a Party Girl (she was the same last year but that is the part they groom for the roll as Clara so she'll sit there as long as she needs to to get her Clara roll! and it's the opening scene and it's long so ya...), a Snow Crystal in the final scene of the first act...and probably the coolest because they use fog and a screen and it really snows on stage!), and Mother Ginger (which she's been wanting since she was a jester two years ago but she was too little and they are both on the stage for the same dance so that's not gonna work!). She's happy with it, although she was called back for Chinette too but didn't get it...that part is usually cast as the taller girls at her size and the smaller girls of the next size up so she was probably too little. But the parent meeting is the 12th and rehearsal for Crystal and Mother Ginger start on Sunday the 13th. Usually I think all three of her rehearsals are on Saturdays, at least until closer to the end when they start running whole scenes with more than one part in attendance. But Saturday (the 12th) is also her first day of regular dance classes which are normally going to be 11am - 5pm. Nutcracker is about 45 minutes to an hour northeast of us, dance is about 30 minutes back due south from there, and home is about 45 minutes southwest of there. Usually Mother Ginger and Party are early on a Saturday and Crystal is late on Saturday so that means running from home to Nutcracker to dance to Nutcracker to home most likely...which means not OT for me. Then Monday (for an hour), Wednesday (for 2 hours), and Thursday (for 3 hours) she has dance classes ... she has 11 total. On Tuesdays and Fridays she is at the gym for 2 hours each. And in there we still have football games. So, between OT and kids extracurricular activities, I am going to NEED, NEED, NEED a vacation by the time it gets here!

I am trying to thing of day to day park planning too. This is really something I don't usually do. I know what park we plan to hit, where we are eating and when but used to just wing it from there. Fast Pass + is really throwing me off! Now I almost HAVE to plan at least a little for touring...and I DON'T LIKE IT! And the throw another wrench in the whole thing, we only have 10 day passes so I can only book FP+ for 10 days...even though we are planning to upgrade. So I am thinking I am probably better off booking the last 10 days with the FP+ because those will be the busiest, right? So the first 4 days we will have to wing it and see what is available after we upgrade...probably not much...but those will hopefully not be crazy days.

Arrival day there is really only one thing we NEED to do...Festival of Fantasy! We have never seen it (it is new since our last visit) and it is the last day it is running because the 3:00 Parade turns into the Christmas Parade after that. We are specifically going to the Magic Kingdom just for the parade! So I'm good there but the next 3 days will be winging it. We are planning Hollywood Studios on day 2, Magic Kingdom on day 3, and Animal Kingdom for day 5. So those would be the ones without FP+ at 60 days out. Hopefully, we'll be ok!

But day planning is hard! I know people complain about having to plan dining 180 days in advance...that doesn't bother me...I like that! Day planning bothers me!

Today is our DALMATION DAY!!!!

101 days from today (hopefully, if all goes well) we will be on property by now!!!!

We celebrated our 102 Dalmatian day yesterday with a dinner of hot "dogs" and white cake with chocolate chip spots...and a movie!

Well, here we are at DOUBLE DIGITS!!!!

99 days till vacation!!!

Last night was Open House for the boys. Of course, no one has any complaints yet, it's still too early, but all the teachers had nothing but good things to say about both the boys and at least three of Dylan's teachers said he's ahead of the class.

Tyler had to do a "wax museum" in the hallways for his AP US History class...for a grade. He was Gerald Ford. He had to dress up as someone influential in US History and hold a paper button that says "Push Me". When someone pushed his button he had to give a speech about who he is and what influence he had in US History. He wanted Walt Disney but he was taken real fast!

Afterwards we went shopping for clothes for Homecoming...which also can double for dress up clothes for VACATION! Dylan went with grey pants and shirt, black shoes and belt, and purple bow tie. Ty is going with black pants, suspenders, bow tie, belt and shoes and is still ion the market for a bright colored shirt...they only had basic black, white, red, dark blue, and dark purple there. The theme is "Greatest Show On Earth". Tyler wanted a polka dot tie but ya, I don't have the time to search for that! He does have silver elephant cuff links though from when he stood up as the "dog bearer" in my cousin/his godmother's wedding so he'll use that as his circus aspect along with the brightly colored shirt.

This week has really thrown my body off it's crazy schedule and I have been exhausted...that doesn't even make sense! But it is such a major change from working a 60-70 hour week to a 32 hour one...

So with all of the new dining options opening up that seem to be beginning in time for the holiday season, do you think it is just simply Disney realizing that some meals or parks were lacking options and that they could actually pull in more revenue if they opened up existing venues for new meals or do you think it is because this upcoming holiday is going to be crazily busier that the usual crazy busy and they have seen that ADRs are scarce for booking already? Or something else all together.

I mean we have Sci Fi breakfast, Be Our Guest Breakfast, Narcossees brunch, Garden Grill breakfast, Liberty Tree re-opening and the new Adventureland supposedly opening, a couple of Downtown Disney venues sceeduled to open, I believe the one in Animal Kingdom (adjacent to Pizzafari) is supposed to be completed soon...that's is quite a bit of "new" dining for one small timeframe really.

I posted this yesterday on the restaurant forum and got some views but no reply...so I guess no one has a thought...or I'm still in high school and just am not in the popular crowd. Well, either way, I guess in the end, popular or not, I'm going to Disney World in 91 more days so WOO HOO!!!!!

This week Skyler started this year's dance classes...she has 11! The theme is DISNEY!!!

Advanced Hip Hop is a "Got No Strings on Me" hip hop mix
Pointe I - she thinks a Tinkerbelle song (the class is tonight)
Pointe II - either a music box version of "Chim Chim Chiree" or "When You Wish Upon A Star" (I'm rooting got "When You Wish Upon a Star")
Tap 6 - Priate mix
Ballet 6 - don't know yet but she played a few
Competition B/C (she is doing this class just to get extra completions in) - a Mary Poppins Song...she already told Skye that she will be Mary!
Advanced Balled - we not sure because Skye was at Nutcracker for this one
Performance Jazz (competition) - "Circle of Life production number"
Performance Lyrical (competition) - "Once Upon a Dream"
Advanced Jazz - a Newsies song

Skye is also helping with Lyrical IV, Jazz V, Ballet V, Lyrical V, Beginning Ballet, Tap I, Ballet I, and Hip Hop I.

She is also planning on a solo and possibly a duet for competition. She wants to do a lyrical solo and a jazz duet. She was initially wanting to do a duet to "Do You Want To Build A Snowman" and she and the other dancer would be "disbounding" at Anna and Else and have a prop door in the middle of the stage and each dance on their side. Cute idea...just not sure. For her solo (which she will be the main choreographer for) she likes a few songs...my favorite is "God Help the Outcasts" - Hunchback of Notre Dame...but I think it would be her most difficult choice and since she has never performed a solo before maybe she should "get used to it" first, " I Won't Say I'm In Love" - Hercules, "I See The Light" - Tangled, "Reflections" - Mulan, and "On My Way" - Brother Bear. Any opinions? Dancers out there?

So this has been a busy week and should make the next 92 days fly by!

In trip planning news...we have out countdown almost ready...it starts on Saturday so we better hurry up...I'll post it when it's done. We have plans for an autograph book and supplies, we just haven't started it yet. We have plans for tip envelopes and Skye sampled one but I/m not crazy about when she did so I think I have a new idea. Luckily, all these projects are relatively transportable so while I am waiting for her at dance and the gym and at Nutcracker, I will have something to do! That is, if I have time and energy to get organized to pack them all up and make them transportable!

We are still debating on room decorations though. Normally our Christmas decorations are ALL Disney (especially for the tree). So much so that in the past couple of years we haven't even put them all out! We are bringing a 4 foot tree for our room. But I am not sure I want to take the chance of bringing my good ornaments and losing them or breaking them. So we were thinking about making them or buying cheap ones...we just can't decide. I also want to have stockings but our stockings are not Disney (they are ones I needlepointed for me and my kids and Cary and Dylan have plain red ones because it takes me forever to needlepoint a stocking...I'm big on starting, finishing is my downfall!) so I don't know if I want to invest in all new Disney ones or not.

We do have a "Disney box" started and we seem to purchase little things we will need here and there and put them in the box. SOon I will need another box though!

Well, that's about it for now...92 more days!!!!!!:santa:

84 more days!!!!

Here's our countdown...ignore the dirty girl's bedroom in the background, she's barely had a chance to breathe let alone clean her room! We wanted to put ears on the tom and maybe eyes but never got around to it so I think it is serving it's purpose. LOL

And are the boys on their way to Homecoming a couple of weeks ago...

image_8.jpg

No dates...much better to be able to dance with multiple girls!

In other notes, Skyler got asked to do the Overture for Nutcracker...which is the very beginning of the show...she was in it last year too...she is one of the two families that dance to the Christmas party from behind the audience and through it. That means another small rehearsal but it's usually just before or after Party do not a huge deal. She is enjoying dance and helping...and planning her solo and is still undecided on songs...he teacher also likes God Help the Outcasts but agrees it might be her most difficult choice. She also likes "When She Loved Me" from Toy Story...so we'll see what she ends up with. She is enjoying being in on helping pick costumes and things like that too!

Last night when Cary was almost ready to come home from work, the last car of the night, they were changing a taillight and it was stuck so he yanked it out and it exploded in his hand slicing his first finger on his right hand (he's right handed!) real bad...he called me bleeding all over the place! He was heading to the ER but was not familiar with the area so someone at work told him where to head but he couldn't find it. So he headed towards home and stopped at a hospital we pass on the way. He was registered (vaguely) and then sat and sat for over 3 hours! He said it did not look like anyone was moving. So finally he goes up and asks what is taking so long and he is told it will be at least 4-5 more hours till he is seen! So he left. I directed him to one of our hospitals (the one our doctor is at so he was familiar with the area and it was sort of on the way home) and he was seen and on his way home in under two hours! He ended up still having 4 pieces of glass and a piece of filament in there and needing 6 stitches! Apparently the doctor said he could see the bone, that's how deep it was!!! Luckily he was scheduled off today so he's at home and all kids are now at school so he can rest a while.

I have been offered a new position at work...which would be a promotion...and a raise...and working more difficult accounts...and sort of being the supervisor's assistant it sounds like. It's not a position that existed before so they are still figuring out specifics and such. It is also in the type of work we are doing all this massive overtime for, which IS NOT the kinds of accounts I have worked with for over 15 years but apparently they like what they've seen of my OT work and want me there. So, I am waiting to hear the final details and to see when this change will take place. At the time my director spoke to me about it it had just been the two directors discussing it and the supervisor I would be under nor my supervisor right now have been told about it yet...so it's hush hush for now but I am excited!

We're still having Dylan trouble. Some things have improved, some not so much. We're working on it but UGH! I think the main problem is he just does not seem to care when it's convenient for him. He does not seem to understand that all of what is going on in his life is in his power to change. It's really frustrating and if I am honest, a lot more work for the rest of us. I don't even know what to do anymore. And Cary has not clue. It does put a very negative spin on a portion of our lives. On the good side, his grades are good, although recently he has a couple of things he got zeros on...which means you just didn't do the work...and he has nothing else to do so he should be the most prepared kid there! I hope it's not the beginning of the downward spiral! And his football team has actually won two games...that's huge for our school!

Tyler is Tyler. Frustrating and wonderful all at the same time! His friend who practically lives with us can't figure out how he does no school work but gets better grades then he does (they have the same classes but different times and teachers). And that is frustrating for me. This year he is so lazy that his grades are just ok. And that is not acceptable for me! His worst class is usually English and he has AP English and it's his best class so far! He has been only working weekends and she is only scheduling his for four hours on Saturday these past two weeks which is unacceptable. And yet they are still hiring! Last week he got called in on Sunday but that doesn't work for me. I'm trying to stay out of it because a mommy should not manage a 16 year old's first job but this is getting ridicules! He hurt his foot at practice again but no where near as badly as last time and should be ok to play tomorrow. They have yet to win a game...but they are used to that...LOL!

So here we are. Busy, busy, busy...mostly Skyler but that means Cary and me too. My dad has been coming out to get her to the gym or dance a couple of days a week so that helps a lot! He's retired and I think it gives him a chance to see the kids so he says he doesn't mind. We still have not told anyone about the trip yet. We're not hiding it anymore but we have not brought it up yet either. I am going to have to soon though. Particularly to the kids' father. I'm not worried about it though because he hasn't seen them in 5 months other than seeing Tyler as a football game and has asked about seeing them the weekend before Halloween so they can hang out with his friends...which is not really quality time with the dad you see once every six months but a time for him to try to pull off the "proud daddy" moment even though he has absolutely no hand in that at all! Whatever...But he does not usually see them for Christmas and Tyler's birthday until after Christmas anyway so it really should not be a big deal. He was not going to get them for Christmas, heck no, I do all the hard stuff so I get all the best stuff too! My parents might be a little upset about us not being around for Christmas since this is really the first year in about 4 years that we are on ok terms but it is what it is and this is the best time for all of us to take a very well deserved and hard earned vacation so they can deal with it or not.

We started an awesome idea for thank you/tip cards...I will post them as they get done. I think we have 42 meals planned (although I am pretty sure I am going to cancel Be Our Guest for breakfast) so if we do one a day we should be in good shape! We also have ideas for the autograph book but haven't started but that is mostly securing scrap booking paper into a binder so shouldn't bee to time consuming.

So that's about it right now...happy planning!

80 days!!! 80 days!!! 80 days!!! 80 days!!!
We've gotten started on our tip cards. Some of them are really intricate and hard so I might decide to just do something similar to that restaurant. But so far I'm pretty pleased! Check it out...

An artist, I am not...a crafter, maybe...excited and need something to do vacation-wise for the next 80 days, definitely!

!

UGH! WOW!! This has been one hack of a month!!!

Well, the good news...61 MORE DAYS!!!

And the bad news...some much worse than others but all bad it it's own way!

Annual Passes...that increase is increasing my cost by about $500!!!

Fast Pass Plus is not something I like so far and I am not enjoying that planning like I should. My dilemmas are multifold. First, it has been a long time since we've been there so what used to be crowded may no linger be. Second, it is Christmastime so everything is obviously going to be more crowded that is normally would be. Third, the way I'd like to do them cuts into my possibility of an afternoon nap on a lot of days. Forth, Magic Kingdom is a pain! Fifth, the choices at Epcot stink...and to a certain extent at Hollywood Studios. Sixth, we have 10 day shoppers but are upgrading to APs so I can only book for 10 days until we have the passes (at which time there will probably be no availability) so I am going to book the FP+ for our last 10 days figuring those will be the most crowded. I asked Skyler (knowledgeable about the World) and Cary (not knowledgeable about the World) if they would rather book FP+ for the popular things (7 Dwarfs, Big Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, Splash Mountain) for every day at Magic Kingdom and then do standby for everything else or if they'd rather book something different everyday for FP+ so that they know we are at least getting to ride everything and then we'd be able to pick what we really liked to ride standby. Both said different things everyday. So I think I will go with that strategy at MK. For Epcot, I think we have three days so I think I will do Soarin' for two of them and Test Track for the day we have an early breakfast at Garden Grill, be at the park at opening, ride Soarin' standby and then go to breakfast. The other choices don't seem like something FP+ is even needed for but I guess I'll choose different things for those days. DHS, we will only have one day that we can pre-FP+ so I will do Toy Story and then fill in the rest. Cary and I will probably be the only ones doing Rockin' Rollercoaster so we can single rider it. At AK we also only have one FP+ day so it will be Everest, Safari and then I think Primeval Whirl but I am not sure on the last one. But this should be fun (like ADRs) and it's not! SO since FP+ booking windows open at 12am EST and I am in CST does that mean I can book at 11pm tonight?

I was being nosey and checking out my Mini-Van Rental and clicked into my reservation and it was saying my total went form $1064.00 to just over $1800.00! Imagine my shock. So I call and get a man I cannot hear or understand. He finally gets the confirmation # and pulls up the reservation and it says my total is just over $1200.00...while I am looking at the computer screen that says just over $1800 and my confirmation that says $1064. So he tells me as long as I bring my e-mail confirmation they will honor that price. But that's one more worry that I am going to have until it is over!

We have been released fro mandatory OT at work but we are still allowed to voluntarily do it...so while I really want to just sleep in on the weekends, I know that OT is really my friend right now so I am still going strong! And still waiting on news of the promotion possibility.

And then there's Dylan. The meds he's on don't seem to be helping and he is getting worse. He is worse at home and now he is not handing in school work and therefore his grades are slipping and he is getting in trouble at school. Last Wednesday he was really acting up and said some things that caused his therapist to tell Cary to get him from school and take him to the ER for evaluation. He spent 6 days inpatient. They insisted he was a changed kid and we had to take him home. No 90 day stint and no Homeless Youth Shelter. We were also looking at DCFS investigation because he told them he is locked in his room. He has been grounded to his room and the door on my bedroom into the bathroom has a lock on it but he failed to tell them that he has two doors into and out of his room and the other door is not locked. So while we have called DCFS for help, we have heard nothing from them. So that's how concerned for child welfare they are. All DCFS is apparently there for is to get parents in trouble. If they don't think that' going to happen, and the parents are actually asking for help with a child, it's not their concern. So Cary has to pick him up after work on Monday at 9pm. They get home around 10pm and I am woken to Dylan screaming in the driveway that he's not going into the house unless he can bring his computer into his room (what kind of grounding is that???) and he is on the porch. Cary calls the nurse back and she says to bring him back. They sit at the hospital until about midnight and he brings him home. Quietly. The next morning he gets woken up to get in the shower and gives a hard time. Once he is out, Cary brings him his breakfast and he's back in bed!!! At this time it is almost time to get on the bus to school! I was gone by now but apparently Dylan was very mouthy and called Cary a ____ing Old Man as he walked out the door. Since then all has been pretty quiet...until yesterday when I came home form the football game with Tyler and Key and Dylan is hanging out the bathroom window looking around. I ask what he's doing and he says he heard noise so was just checking. He is not to touch windows because he has broken one in his room. He has been told this a multiple of times. Later when I go into the bathroom, I see some electrical cords hanging out of the cabinet we keep rollers, make up, you know, girly things in. But nothing has these kinds of cords. Thell there are two chargers for electronic equipment that were not there before and were not in Dylan's possession before. One of them looks like it was starting to be hidden behind a cabinet panel at the back of the cabinet. I found no piece of electronic equipment but I also don't know what they are for. No one else was home for quite a while except Dylan who is not allowed out of his room. So nothing has changed. He hasn't changed. He is not going to. We have a diagnosis of ODD...oppositional defiant disorder, anxiety, depression. We have no other place to put him. He and a nurse called his mother to see if he could stay with her and she said no way, her other kids are doing the same things, she does not need another one. SO now we have to deal with it. I am trying to get Cary to call Dylan's mother (he does not want to have to talk to her, they DO NOT get along at all!) to tell her she has to take Dylan for two weeks at Christmas and we will drop him off on the way. She is supposedly in Kentucky. But so far he hasn't. I really don't want to take him with us on vacation, neither does Cary. He does not deserve it, he has stolen enough from our family and we are afraid he will ruin our trip but we have nothing else to do with him. Obviously we cannot leave him home alone. He has no other family that would take him for 2 weeks. There'd be no way I'd even ask nor would I give him the benefit of staying with my parents. So it is looking like I have to keep my fingers crossed that in the next 61 days something clicks for Dylan and he straightens out his act. He has basically told all his docs and therapists that he wants no rules, no chores, he will not follow rules or do chores and he wants no consequences for that. He says I am the one who ruined his life. When I got them, they lived in a moldy basement at their grandmother's house. They had no money. He and his older brother had just flunked 7th and 9th grades because they never went to school. They stayed up all night playing video games and eating chips and pop. For the three of them they came into my life with 2 garbage bags of belongings. Everything that kid has is because of me. The healthier life he now lives is because of me. The healthy father he has and does not want is because of me. But his problems are most definitely not because of me! So, I believe he will most likely be coming with us to the World. In what capacity, I am not sure yet. There are various ways to allow us to have fun and not have to reward him. But we will have to see how it goes for the next 61 days.

Phew....one thing off my list of worries!

So last night at about 9pm Skyler and I sat town with our ADRs and park choices and loosely planned our Fast Pass + options. At 11pm exactly I signed into My Disney Experience and got all the things we wanted...just not all at the times we determined that we wanted. Then I went back into the ones I needed to tweek and got exactly the times we wanted on most of them before I tired out and finished the rest this morning. So did I do something wrong? Did I miss something? Because I did not need to sweat it at all??? I booked for December 22nd thru December 31st. I had no problem and had plenty of options available to choose from. Why is everyone always complaining about how hard it is to get what they want? Are we just not that picky or choosing a different way of touring than everyone else? HHHMMM???

Here's what we ended up with...

I am going with the thought that there will probably not be available FP+ for a 4th or more after we use our first three and that if there is it won't be for anything big. So we will do what we can standby other than the FP+ we have each day. Epcot choices stink so there are some things thrown in there just to finish off our three.

We are upgrading to Annual Passes when we arrive so Friday afternoon after we do that I will go in and see if there is anything available for our first days at DHS, MK, and AK but if not, I think those will be our least crowded days so we'll just wing it. Skye is planning on doing a lot of shows at DHS on our first day on the 19th and at AK on the 21st.

I am still not liking the FP+ thing on a whole. Maybe I'll change my mind after using it but right now, it just feels too planned...give me ADRs all day long...that's fun. FP+ so far just seems like a pain in the butt!
