No one has been DIs'ed, I was playing to the crowd. ;) Trust me. Oh, and also trust me that you all are not as liberal as many of the people in this crowd at the convention - well, OK, Jonna, you may be ;) . But I was DIS'ing myself there too. And you all are not as conservative as my dear friends here at the 4/29 ers. Guess you two didn't get into a fun discussion about your affinity for John Kerry with anyone on the cruise, hunh? That is where this whole rift started. Tom likes to try and get me going and talking politics, but I would not bite. He saw me stumping for Kerry during election time - and yes, that is how far back this thread goes. I didn't tell him then that I am actually personal friends with John and Theresa - so there you have it, Tom - now you must come back. You have gotten me into trouble with these two lovely ladies. :bitelip:

NO TROUBLE HERE!!! Shyla
I Just couldn't pass. The visual was to precious. KINDA LOOKS LIKE THIS  !!!
:thumbsup2

Wheeee! Politics - not my thing really. Shyla, I did get sort of close to Kerry once - he was on "Live with Regis and Kelly" when I was in the studio audience with some friends of mine (a cool experience if any of you ever get the chance). I remember thinking when he was going to be a guest "I'm either going to see the next President of the United States, or someone most people (no offense Shyla!) will remember in a few years." We were just a little disappointed we didn't see Matthew Fox (he was on later in the week). I did recognize who the windsurfer was!

Sandy, have you been to LBI lately? We are going the week of July 4th. We haven't been there in years (think before kids - and my oldest is 14). We've been going to either Avalon or Outer Banks more recently. Anything we shouldn't miss (besides the lighthouse obviously). It will be a pretty laid-back week - we're going with a divorced friend of ours and his two daughters (he and his ex used to come to Avalon with us).

April, nice to hear from you. I enjoyed your pix on the Snapfish site, as well as everyone elses. Have a great night all of you still here with me!

Lisa

PS - Sue Rose, if you're there somewhere - still waiting for the Jon in the kilt pix!

Hey Lisa -- I haven't been to LBI in a few years either. That was the only shore I went to pretty much the first 30 years of my life. I always love the lighthouse - we usually would have a picnic there - there are picnic tables right there on the bay. I love walking out on the rocks. Other than that and the beach I guess my favorite is the spot where the Lucy Evelyn ship/shops are - do you know where I mean? They have the best fudge in that area - it's fantastic (and over the top expensive). I hope you have a great time and let me know how it is as I'd love to get there again myself soon. I'm going to Cape May the week after the 4th - I've grown to love it there now too.

What's happened to Tom -- he dropped out of sight since two of us said we didn't like OC, Maryland :confused3

I don't know. I have been doing my damndest to pull him out. I didn't think he could resist the whole opening up the politics thing....but alas........

What's Avalon?
( Lisa, no offense, I was a little shocked he was the one to be running for Pres in the first place - not really our charismatic Senator at all - but I guess you never know what a little spindoctoring will do to someone and their ability to run for President - but it didn't get the job done. I'm thinking you need a little more than what he has for personality to actually get it done)

Oops, I mean to say Riff (i.e. tangent), not Rift. There's no Rift.

Hey all just wanted to check in, sorry I haven't been able to reply, am in North Carolina this week with my mom, she had surgery and all is well so don't anyone worry. I will try to respond to Shyla losing her bet and having to spend a horrible weekend, yes I am a conservative and I don't like the Dixie Chicks, but we can get into that later.

Check back soon.

Tom

Hi Shyla - Avalon NJ is a beach town in south Jersey. Kind of small most people never heard of it unless you're from the area. It's between Atlantic City and Wildwood. It was a great place to take the boys when they were really young. I am quite proud that for many years the only "boardwalk" my kids had heard of was in Disney World!

Tom, I don't like the Dixie Chicks either. Hope your mom is doing better.

Lisa

Okay, who's kids go to Shiloh Elementary in North Carolina? And is/are in 5th grade?

Just trying to figure out who's pics are on the snapfish website.

Oh Dear - Suzie - Sorry. My daughter teaches there and would be horrified I'm sure that I made those pictures public. She sends me her pictures on snapfish and your name was on there when I signed on and it was late and I wasn't thinking and they got added to your stuff. When Irealized it the next day I thought I removed them. If they haven't been removed would you mind doing so? I'm such a ninny!!! Let me know if there is a problem doing that. I have to laugh at myself though - you must have been really confused.

Thanks.

Tom - hope your mom is ok. I will add my vote - Dixiechicks are ok sometimes but not others - depending on which song they are singing - I don't go for the overly twangy stuff. How did the Dixie Chicks get brought up anyway? I always seem to miss something.

Lisa - I haven't been to Avalon in years. I don't care for Wildwood boardwalk, but I Ocean City, NJ. However, I still like Disney's little boardwalk - it's cute.

I need encouragement - I gained 10 pounds on my 3 week trip and it's still sitting on my body and I don't seem motivated to lose it. The cool and rainy weather is not helping. I booked a weekend in Cape May, Nj in July, just for me - so I hope I can lose it by then.

I'm in the mood to go on a short cruise and never leave the ship - except maybe a short excursion to CC. sigh

Sandy, it's okay, I was just thoroughly confused knowing that we didn't have anyone from NC in our group and non of the kids in the pics looked familiar! Mystery solved. Unfortunately, I don't kow that they can be deleted off the site but I will look into it. Doesn't make a diff to me, either way. I thought someone was playing a bit of a joke on us!

Ah, Dixie Chicks....well, currently they are out of favor again because of their political outspokenness. Articles today show that their tour sales are very low. Natalie has said, again, anti-war/anti-Bush remarks. This, along with what Shyla was saying about her weekend with her political items, was a political remark being stated. That's how the subject got brought up.

Miss seeing everyone on the boards. Guess that's what happens once the cruise is over, the honeymoon is over.......bummer....

Yup, the Dixie Chicks are the poster children for all things liberal.

Tom and I are just teasing each other. I would not want this to piss anyone else off. He just keeps wanting to play with his newfound Dem friend and I wouldn't play, so I was trying to out him by posting all that.

I have a profound respect for the Presidency so I am not a fan of what the Dixie Chicks are doing, but I have been known to work for democratic political candidates. I follow process, and the process will work. The Majority gets the vote. Be that Elephants or Donkeys.

Can you tell I used to be Republican. Im a swinger, I can see both sides of the coin. Or, if you may, I swing from both fences :rotfl2:

Tom, good thoughts for a speedy recovery are sent to you and your Mom. :goodvibes

Just wondering.....Did anyone mail out any postcards from Castaway Cay? I mailed out quite a few including one to myself for scrapbooking and noone has received theirs. Anyone know how long it takes to get here? I hope they all didn't lost in the mail! What a bummer that would be.

Also, have you all seen the new disney "Year of A Million Dreams" promotion? Pretty cool. There's a contest to enter on the site to be their to kick off the ceremony. I'm wishing for the being a grand marshal in the parade in every park around the world. Nice dream huh?

April

April, we didn't receive ours for a very long time - few months if I remember correctly. We only hade one or two lost in the mail that were never received. I had heard before that to mail to yourself, do at least three!

Hope you get them soon!

Cool about the new promotion. No, I haven't even read anything about it - just no time. Can't wait to go next year! It'll be great to have a new celebration with little Ameera. How fun!

Had my yardsale Saturday and my stress level is soooooo down now! I sold about 75% of what I had out for sale. I only have one box and one bicylce to go to charity! WOOHOO!!! I made about $160 - not much - but my goal was to purge not make money! But every little bit counts! WOOHOO!!

Dentist appt today. I actually like going to the dentist. Ed actually doesn't even have to go into work because of the rain we are - finally!!! - getting today. None of the contractors want to stand out in the rain, which is understandable. So, Ed and Tori will go with me and we will have lunch in Old Fairfax afterwards. Actually wondering if I can drag him to BJ's with me to do a bit of shopping. So much easier when someone else is with me for Tori to be entertained by.

Speaking of Tori....had a huge shock last week. Came out of the shower and she was bouncing up and down...."Mommy, mommy, look what I did!" and proudly pointed to a huge clump of hair on my dresser! She had gone into Ameera's room, gotten my scissors and whacked about 4 inches off the side of her hair! I started crying immediately! (Good news is that after really looking at it for a while, you can't really tell she cut it, so we will only have to straightene it out and angle cut the other side of her head to match.).

So, those of you with kids past this stage, bless you for your sanity! How do you do it?!

Hugs to everyone out there! Would love to see more pics on the snapfish site.....even ones of the cruise! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

jewelgirl , let me know if you dont receive them, I would be happy to send more. We decided to take another cruise 12/9 the last double dip :cool1: . I sent a few to my friends and they said they just received them last week.

1. I miss you all!!!
2. Ameera!!??!! Did I miss something? When was this decided and why wasn't I notified! (wink, wink) Did you take a pic of Tori's new 'do? This incident is a rite of passage, y'know!
3. Warm thoughts & prayers for you & Mom Tuggle, TT!
4. Conservative, but respectful!
5. Roses: Need kilt pics!! And Haunted House hotel pics! Do tell...
6. Postcard sent from St. Thomas arrived w/in a week of getting home. Bahamas vs USVI, I guess. I hope they get through soon, April!
7. Encouragement for you, Sandy: I gained AFTER the cruise! Don't worry, it will come off--it's almost summer, which means nice days for gardening, walking, and all things active. And when the weather isn't cooperating (like now) cue up Tom & Pango's 'Walkin' on Sunshine' mpeg and dance, dance, dance! :sunny: :dancer:
8. Virginia: Double dip?! (in my best Napoleon voice) Lucky!!

It looks like we're gonna go w/o Disney for awhile! :sad1: We sponsor a little boy (actually, he's a teenager now!) in Guatemala and our church had a missions emphasis this past Sunday. The guy who led the most recent missions group got up and asked who has been to Disney...(y'all know where this is going...) and then went on to explain how Mickey has nothing on missions and to imagine spending your vacation budget instead on a family mission trip. I had already been thinking about that, and about how my kids don't really have a good understanding of severe poverty and what it's like for people who don't live our comfy cozy lifestyle, such as it is. So anyway, the jist of it is that we will be trying to go to Guatemala next spring if possible...no Disney! This is very difficult for me--as you know, my Disney fetish runs deep--but I know it will be incredibly rewarding too. :goodvibes Still looking forward to cruising in 2008, though!

In other news, I'm "all the way up to" 1998 in scrapbooking now! Sad, I know. I've GOT to get on the digital scrapping bandwagon, Shyla! Planning to do a DVD movie of the cruise pics--too many to scrapbook, I think! Had friends over Saturday to crop and played my 'Disney propaganda' CDs as background music, lol! (Thanks again, April!! :teeth: )
Going to get back into running the soundboard at church, which is a blast, but always makes me feel like such a Rhodie... oops! I mean Roadie!!
Anyone see Cars this past weekend? We are also Pixar junkies, of course, so opening night was mandatory. It was really a funny movie, well done! Still think Incredibles is the best, but they're all great anyway. That's all my news, I guess.

I've been away too long, and I really do miss you guys! Be ready, 'cause I'll be calling when Dave has his next business trip 'out east'!

Contest is great but it is only open to US citizens, not us northerners. I can't even try to win. Grand Marshall was my first pick too, but I thought having the Magic Kingdom to myself would have been cool too. Maybe I should move down there just so I have a chance to win!! LOL :rotfl2:

Hey, you could become a "resident" of our household for the duration of the contest!!! Hmmmm.......

Definition of ameer/ameera
He/She is the halaqa's leader. He/She is, idealy speaking, the educator and the planner, who plans for the members' activities, integrates, and directs their actions in order to reach the specified goals of the halaqa.

baby name in Islamic/Muslin name books "Ameera: Princess"

Very Pretty name to choose. Is this the name you have chosen for your baby girl?

I'm sorry for not getting more photos up yet. My other life is getting in the way at night. I am up to my eye balls in travel work. I'm supposed to be working two nights a week but what happens in reality is that I work with the clients in every moment I can get free. It's taking over my life. In a good way. I do like it a lot. It's sometimes quite frustrating, but it's nice.

Today is our anniversary! 19 years. Time flies when you're having fun. We dated for 3 years before (had to finish high school). It's been such a busy week that we didn't even realise that today was the 13th. I was thinking today was the 11th. I had to phone Len on his way to work to say happy anniversary. The guy he was riding with was laughing thinking that Len was in trouble for forgetting our anniversary. Little did he know that I was mixed up too.

We got a puppy a few days ago and the little thing has been keeping us up most of the night. She seems to be doing not too bad about letting us know when she needs to go out, the problem is she needs to go out every two hours during the night. She is going to be an outside dog but she's too little to let out right now. We need a big dog to keep the coyotes and bears out of the yard, that's why we got her, but she's too little to protect herself right now. I'm allergic to dogs & cats so I'm not really enjoying her being in the house. She is very cute though. I think it's nature's way to have all babies be cute, so we will protect them and put up with their messes! :rotfl2:

Suzie, if summer hadn't finally arrived up here I just might have taken you up on the offer of becoming a resident of your house. The problem with it being nice here now, the kids think school should be over already. Just 11 more days of school left! I haven't gotten any curtains for the windows yet and it's hard to get them to sleep with it being so bright out at night. It sure is nice to wake up to sun though. A friend of mine moved here from South Africa and she just can't get used to the difference of sunlight hours between winter & summer here.

I still have one more batch of pictures to upload onto the snapfish site. I was waiting to have the pictures from the underwater camera, but I don't know when I'll get them done. Brittany got a nice picture of the sunken mickey while snorkelling at Castaway Cay. I'll try to get it all done this week. There are quite a few pictures from The Stack as well, for those of you that had kids in there.

As for the Disney contests, I can't enter the Million Dreams one, but I did find one I could enter. Through Playhouse Disney they have a contest for a trip to WDW, advertising the Magical Beginnings package for this fall. Found that link under the Canadian DIS boards. We can't get a Disney Visa, can't enter a Million Dreams, but as long as I don't live in Quebec I can enter this one. I think the Quebec thing is because they are the french speaking province of Canada, and the entire sweepstakes would have to be put into french for it to be valid in Quebec.

I'd better get some work done. That's the trouble with being your own boss, there's nobody looking over your shoulder on days like today to remind you get something done.

Have a beautiful sunny day today everyone.

Barb
