Suzie - A girl - how awesome! how are you feeling these days? Is the heat bothering you? Where you effected by the flooding over the last few weeks?

Feeling a bit huge! Not too bad though. Just taking things easy. The heat is a problem but I try to get out and back home in the mornings before it gets too bad.

Flooding, where do I begin...yes, we had a nice little river going through the back yard and now it's just a crop of lovely mushrooms. Raining again today. YUCK! Lots of houses and roads flooded around the area, some of the major highways closed to mudslides. Took Ed 2 hours to get the 15 miles to his office one day. What a mess.

Hope everyone had a good 4th.

Julie - Thanks for checking in after her surgery. I am so happy to hear she is doing so well - although, every indication was she would be awesome afterwards. Have fun on your trip and tell us all about it.

Yeah, the second job is going spectacularly. I am overwhelmed with business. I have to be careful about how much I take on so I can do my job that pays the bills still. I had clients travel this weekend as my first ones and now I have them traveling almost every week for the rest of the summer. It's hard work, actually. It's not like booking DIS'rs. Most people are as newbie as they come. So, therefore they need a lot of help. Plus Disney makes it a little tough with some of their quirks. Magical Express is a nightmare.

Suzie, I am glad you weren't pumping out the basement. We are about ready to build arks up here in New England - how bout you all? Hey, Queen of parties, tell us about what you all did for the 4th!

Tom, yeah, check in and tell us about HH - it's one of my favorite places. Well, actually Savannah is, but HH is a close second.

How's Trish doing? You guys must have had something really fun going on for the 4th?

Hope everyone had a nice 4th of July!

Barb - two puppies - are you crazy?? Now we know what a softie you are!

We have had a busy month. We found out near the end of the school year that Jessica was going to need surgery on both legs. We then quickly changed some of our summer plans and moved her summer camp up so that she could go before the surgery. She had surgery last Thursday to have tumors removed and they placed expanders on both legs to even out the growth. This is all due to a bone condition that she has. She is doing VERY well - she is one tough cookie!! She is already walking without crutches and who knows, maybe she will be on the soccer field this Fall.

We have a WDW trip planned for next month which we still plan to go on - just may need to slow down a bit.

OHJulie :wave2:

Julie,

We are sending a bunch of pixie dust from up here in Canada. pixiedust: :grouphug: I think it's great that you are still going on the trip. It will give her something to look forward to. She's probably having to do a lot of therapy and everyone needs something to motivate them!

As for me being a softie, I'm sure the kids have me figured out. :rolleyes1
You gotta see the size of these puppies already! They are really going to be bears.

I hope you all thought of us on July 1st, 'cause we toasted you all on July 4th! Nice to have an excuse for two holidays in one week! :drinking1

Have a great day everyone!

Barb

Big hugs to everyone, 'cause I miss you all so much!! :grouphug:

Suzie, so glad to hear your house made it thru okay. I swear our weather out here is always the opposite of what it is on the east coast. Weird. Got your message JUST as I was about to get on here and post...I'll give you a call...

Julie, Great BIG Hugs and pixie dust for Jessica. What a trooper and such a sweetheart too. I can't imagine anything slowing her down! Have a wonderful time on your trip. (Have you seen the pics & footage of the Pirates changes? They look SOOOOO coooool...hope you get a chance to ride it!)

Shyla, thanks for the shout out. I checked the boards just before the 4th and I know we're all being a bunch of slackers, but who said that awhile ago about this place being like Cheers? So true. How fun that your business is doing so well. The helping newbies plan their vacations reminds me of helping seniors with their medical bills. It can be so difficult for them to understand the complexities, but when they finally do, it's SO rewarding and they're usually SO grateful. :goodvibes

Barb, I DID think of you on the 1st!! Ask my DH...We could hear fireworks and were wondering if they were coming from the Reservation nearby or from over the border. Congrats on the puppies...(or bears)...even though ours is mostly indoors and sheds everywhere, he's just so endearing and so eager to please. Dogs are great that way. Are the kids are enjoying them?

Tom, I know you guys had fun at HH. Please tell us how it went. I've only seen pictures...never been there.

So for our 4th we did the usual, which is 5 families (10 adults 12 kids) for a BBQ at one family's house, followed by tons of fireworks. We all went in together this year at $20 per family (can't beat that!) and got this huge pile of very cool (and legal, mind you) fireworks. Lots of tanks for the boys to have wars and melt plastic green army men, pagodas and egg-laying chickens, sparklers, and stuff for the kids, and fountains and big mortar shells that shoot ouf of the cardboard tubes for the grownups! Note: do not try to fire a small mortar shell out of a big tube. Lots of food, couple of drinks, lots of fun!

But TODAY....I did my very first footrace--a 10K (7 miles actually) called the Chuckanut Footrace. It's a favorite local race. I didn't run to place, but just to continue my quest for fitness. I plan to do a 15K in September and...the Seattle Marathon in November. Not sure when it happened, but somewhere along the line I decided I'm some kind of runner, I guess. Anyway, I did this run in 1 h 24 min (5 mph average) which is good for me, but I didn't feel spent at the end, so I know I can do more. You gotta understand, I'm usually pretty lazy with a severe sweet tooth, so this is a major life change for me. Slowly but surely! :teeth:

In other news, it's my birthday today... :joker: ...wish I was at Disney so I could wear my birthday button! Instead, I think we're going to go to see Pirates...next best thing, huh?

Gotta run--oh, wait, I already did that--I mean, I gotta go rest! hee, hee.
...I really do miss all you guys! :grouphug:

Happy Birthday, Trish!

Sorry I didn't get you on the phone and we've been out most of the day. Pool party at a friends and just got home. Tori's come down with some kind of funky fever again and just not feeling well...tired from the pool too...makes for one FUN child!!

Planning Tori's birthday party at the end of this month at same friend's house. Seafood boil and lots of drinks (virgin and not-so-virgin). BF's hubby thinks he's a bartender in a past life! Gotta love him, though! Fun guy....reminds me a bit of Tom.

Miss everyone and really wish we could catch up. I know, the cruise is over, planning not beginning on the new one yet and everyone is busy with summer......WHATEVER! Drop a line or two!

Whatever happened to the Roses?!?!?! Gosh, I don't think we've heard from them since their haunted mansion weekend.......hmmmm.......

Happy belated birthday Trish, what are you about 28 now????

Hilton Head was absolutely wonderful, just what the doctor ordered. The Queen and I spent 5 incredible days sitting on our butts looking at the Ocean, that of course is when we weren't helping the offspring make some sandcastles or hanging out in the water, which was 84 degrees, I would say perfect.

The Hilton resort was awesome, in fact we are going to book it again same time next year. I will try and check in a little later, but gotta run.

IntheMood, I always remember the Hot Moms, it is a curse.

Tom

Hope it was great for you! Congrats on your decision to enter the races - I wish I could run well enough to do that. Bad shins.

We just got back from vacation over the Fourth at the Jersey shore. I wish we could say we had as much fun as Tom & Julie and their girls. The water was cold cold cold - something like 57 degrees on July 4th. After that we had a day and half of clouds and rain, and the friend we were staying with turned into a total grouch. The last day it cleared up and the ocean was a balmy 66 ( at least it felt balmy after 57). So, on a scale of 1 -10 (keeping in mind the cruise was a 10), I'd give this week a 4.

Suzie - I've been meaning to call you to see how you're doing. Hope Tori's better by now. We escaped the flood waters too - but tonight they are calling for more!

Barb - your pups sound cute. Now I've got to look for one for my kids. Wish I knew someone having some cute mixed mutts. I know some vets who could refer me to breeders, but I just want a nice family dog - doesn't have to be a show dog. If I went to the pound, I'd wind up bringing every dog home with me - then Phil would kick me out! Just kidding.

Julie - hope your daughter has a super-speedy recovery before your trip to WDW.

Shyla - Good for you with the job - it does sound like fun.

Another reason I've been missing is that I was prompted to log on, and told my password was invalid for about a week! I don't know what happened but today I was able to log back on and I thought I'd check to see if my DIS friends were still here - and you didn't let me down!

Greetings everybody from Alabama, I am down here on business for a couple of days and decided to check in. So it has only been 73 days since we got off the boat and it looks like the thread is going to sleep, so let me say it and hopefully not be the last one.

Good Night JohnBoy

Tom pirate:

Waiting for May of 08 rates to come out!!!!

No way are you going to be the last one - I'm not saying goodnight! I have been back at reading trip reports as I get ready to go again in late September - a three night this time around!

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a great summer. We are having quite a heatwave here with temps in the 90 - 113 range. I also have some great news that I had to share with you all. Len & I built a float to put in the centenial parade, and it got 2nd place in the judging! I don't know how to post a picture so I can't show you, but I'm so excited. The prize itself wasn't much, but the free advertising was great.

As for this thread going to sleep, that won't happen. It might have a little nap while everyone is busy with real life, but I know I get excited when I get the email notification that a new message is on.

Barb

Just adding my two cents here....I do check every once in a while to see who's still around. Love to hear what everyone is doing...

On another note, October 9th seems to be THE date! Just got home from the OB and that's the scheduled date for my c-section. So be on the lookout for news then! I know it's a bit aways but oh, well!

Suzie - 10/9 - we expect to see pictures on 10/10!! It will be here before you know it!

Barb - Congrat's on 2nd place on your float. What did it look like?

CG - I am anxious to hear what you think of the 3 day cruise - please give us a trip report when you get back!! I think that the 3-day would be a great addition to a WDW trip, but I worry that after the 7-day cruise it will just seem so short.

Well, we decided to cancel our trip next month to WDW. We were just a little too optimistic about Jessica's abilities to get around at that point. No worries, we will get there soon. We are going to go camping at Hocking Hills State Park in Ohio. If any of you ever get to central Ohio check it out - very beautiful!! (not WDW, but it will do!)

Take care!!

OHJulie :wave2:

Julie, sorry to hear you had to cancel, but totally understandable! And better to not have bad memories of a bad time for a next visit....

We'll try to get photos on here as soon as possible after! LOL! Not sure it will be within a week since Ed has NO idea how to get to this site much less post pics!

Tom, hope your business takes you home quickly! Tell Julie and the kids we said hi!

Shyla, looking forward to hearing about your three day! How great is that! Can you tell I'm jealous?

Goodnight all!

Hi everyone...I check in every so often but can't bring myself to post(I'm a shy guy you know). :rotfl2:

I still think about all of the great times we had on our cruise and can't wait to go back.

Hope everyone is doing ok and I will talk to you guys soon.....

CONGRATULATIONS BARB & LEN!!!!!

Cool!

Julie, I am sorry you had to cancel - but staying home sometimes is more relaxing, more fun, and well, more economical also!

STEVEMED!!!!! Hey! Tell your crowd we said Hi also - I miss them.

You know, the cool thing about the three day is that it will be just Paul and me. We can now bring the kids, but I think we need a vacation together alone - so we stuck with just the two of us going. So, we will get to go to Pub night, go to Diversions, go to Palo again without the harried "OH My GOD, gotta get Catrina into Flounders" craze, and be able to skip the shows and just watch the sun set if that is what we want to do. I am very excited!

Hi gang!

I still check in every couple of days too - not necessarily posting every time, but still checking in.

Suzie, October 9th will be here before you know it! Hope you're doing well with all the heat we've been having. I keep meaning to call you and I will surprise you and do just that soon!

Shyla, include me among the jealous! A 3-night, no kids getaway sounds fabulous.

Stevemed , when you do check in again, just want you to know my husband mentions you every time the Red Sox win!

One of the reasons I've been busy is we just got a Golden Retriever puppy last week. I had promised the boys we'd get a dog when our vacations were over. She's 8 weeks old, her name is Meadow, and she's sooooo cute and soooo bad! I have to try to post her picture. It's almost like having a baby in the house again.

This thread will now go back to page 1!

Lisa

Welcome to August, it has been 86 days since we all got off the ship and it seems like quite a long time ago. I have to tell everyone that as soon as dates come out for 2008, which is supposed to be sometime in September we are going to book the Magic for the 1st week of May, really don't care if it is Eastern or Western, just love that time of year on the ship.

SteveMed, nice of you to check in, sorry you won't be joining us at WDW over Thanksgiving. Also the Sox have no chance with the way the Tigers are playing, you all just keep spending money on all those over priced players, but it will not help.

Suzie, how is the hot summer treating you??? I actually had to sleep downstairs last night because it was so freakin hot, I hope you are staying cool.

Shy, congrats on the Disney Travel gig, gotta be honest a little jealous that you are getting paid for something that I do for free for our friends, but what are you going to do. Have fun on your Cruise, even though I do hope you know it will not be the same and you are cheating on us.

Trisha, you haven't checked in since your Birthday what is up, I just turned the big 40 this last week, and I am here so it can't be that bad.

Lisa, Julie and Barb just wanted to say Hi, did not want to leave out anyone who is keeping this thing hopping, hope all is well.

Well better get back to work, just wanted to get this thing back on page 1, and remind everyone that when we were 86 days out, it was Feb 2, and this is what was posted on page 95, 96 and 97

Sweet dreams all and I hope this isn't the last.

Tom pirate:

Hi Tom....My group is going to book the same week in 2008 if the prices are good.As for the Sox,I think they did ok not giving up any of the young kids at the trade deadline.I don't think they'll do much this year but the future looks bright.

Shy,Suzzie,Lisa D,our people north of the border and anyone else...I MISS YOU GUYS.

I just went back and looked at some of the pages from Feb. 2 and it makes me so sad. :confused3
