Big hugs to everyone, 'cause I miss you all so much!!
Suzie, so glad to hear your house made it thru okay. I swear our weather out here is always the opposite of what it is on the east coast. Weird. Got your message JUST as I was about to get on here and post...I'll give you a call...
Julie, Great BIG Hugs and pixie dust for Jessica. What a trooper and such a sweetheart too. I can't imagine anything slowing her down! Have a wonderful time on your trip.

(Have you seen the pics & footage of the Pirates changes? They look SOOOOO coooool...hope you get a chance to ride it!)
Shyla, thanks for the shout out. I checked the boards just before the 4th and I know we're all being a bunch of slackers, but who said that awhile ago about this place being like Cheers? So true. How fun that your business is doing so well. The helping newbies plan their vacations reminds me of helping seniors with their medical bills. It can be so difficult for them to understand the complexities, but when they finally do, it's SO rewarding and they're usually SO grateful.
Barb, I DID think of you on the 1st!! Ask my DH...We could hear fireworks and were wondering if they were coming from the Reservation nearby or from over the border. Congrats on the puppies...(or bears)...even though ours is mostly indoors and sheds everywhere, he's just so endearing and so eager to please. Dogs are great that way. Are the kids are enjoying them?
Tom, I know you guys had fun at HH. Please tell us how it went. I've only seen pictures...never been there.
So for our 4th we did the usual, which is 5 families (10 adults 12 kids) for a BBQ at one family's house, followed by tons of fireworks. We all went in together this year at $20 per family (can't beat that!) and got this huge pile of very cool (and legal, mind you) fireworks. Lots of tanks for the boys to have wars and melt plastic green army men, pagodas and egg-laying chickens, sparklers, and stuff for the kids, and fountains and big mortar shells that shoot ouf of the cardboard tubes for the grownups! Note: do not try to fire a small mortar shell out of a big tube. Lots of food, couple of drinks, lots of fun!
But
TODAY....I did my very first footrace--a 10K (7 miles actually) called the Chuckanut Footrace. It's a favorite local race. I didn't run to place, but just to continue my quest for fitness. I plan to do a 15K in September and...the Seattle Marathon in November. Not sure when it happened, but somewhere along the line I decided I'm some kind of runner, I guess. Anyway, I did this run in 1 h 24 min (5 mph average) which is good for me, but I didn't feel spent at the end, so I know I can do more. You gotta understand, I'm usually pretty lazy with a severe sweet tooth, so this is a major life change for me. Slowly but surely!
In other news, it's my birthday today...

...wish I was at Disney so I could wear my birthday button! Instead, I think we're going to go to see Pirates...next best thing, huh?
Gotta run--oh, wait, I already did that--I mean, I gotta go rest! hee, hee.
...I really do miss all you guys!
