4/26/09 4 day Wonder

72 days is not a long time. It will go by in a flash. I am going to try again later this weekend to put the 2nd FE picture on the board. I have it almost finished. I am still not sure about the pockets-but I guess they will do. Yea Julie Good to see you on the board. There is another family that I know is going on this cruise from another board I will try to get them to move over with us. Wish me luck.:)

Hi Guys,
We are a group of 7. Grandma [ Spanky on dis - my old girl scout camp counselor name - I am the disney nut of the family with 17 trips since 1977], Grandpa, Daughter, Son & wife & 2 grandkids [g-4 & b-5]. This is a first cruise for all of us. We just plan to walk around Nassau but have signed up for lots of stuff at Castaway Cay: the sting ray[son & grandson] glassbottom boat [daughter in law & granddaughter] & the 3 young adults will do the parasailing while the grandparents keep the grandkids. I signed up for this trip more than a year ago [ Dec. 2007 when my boss gave me a $10,000 bonus to take my family on the disney cruise]
I have been in count down mode for sometime. Presently I am making countdown calendars for the grandkids for the last 12 days before the cruise. We will all be wearing black pirate shirts the first day - I am hoping for lots of group pictures that day as I figure we will all look better then than after we have been on the cruise several days. [wind blown & sun burned]
We are not going to sign up for Palo until we get on the cruise so that we will know are dining order. We have early dining.

Welcome Spanky and 'your gang" It is good to have another family group on the boards. This board is a friendly group-just a little quiet sometimes. i expect it to get more active as the day gets closer. My family group has been looking at the things to do in Nassau and at Castaway Cay. I think the kids have decided on the dolphin encounter in Nassau. Just having time on the beach with the grandsons while at Castaway Cay is looking good. Welcome to the boards!!! :)

Thanks for the welcome. As you can see by my name I have been on the boards for 9 years - just don't post very often - someone usually beats me to the answer when someone asks a question. But I have learned a wealth of information about the parks from reading all the comments and trip reports.

Spanky, Bleich94, and Cshell1968: Welcome to our thread! :goodvibes

Spanky and CShell1968: If you would like to join our FE group, you are more then welcome. If it is not your thing, we understand. We are just glad to have you here on the disboards. :lovestruc

Hi everyone,
We just booked our first cruise ever because my 11 year old son wanted to go on a cruise, and it had to be Disney. Have been online researching for the past week, and getting very excited!

My main concern is having only one child, how easy will it be for him to meet kids his own age and have a "pal" or two to make the experience the most fun for him? Any recommendations? Will definetly be signing him up for the Disney Oceaneer's Lab. Just wanted to see if anyone had any other suggestions! :woohoo:

Mishapary: Welcome!!!!! Thanks for joining us over here. We have an 11 year old daughter that will probably get along great with your son. Take a look at some of the posts about fish extenders and let us know if you are interested in joining the group. It should be fun!

Our2girls&disney. Thanks for the warm welcome. Can't wait for tax season to be over and on the cruise. :yay: We would love to join in!! This is our fifth & sixth disney cruise(s) but first timers for FE's. DD is excited that she will know someone her own age before cruise starts. Both my kids are pros at the kids clubs. We drag them out to have dinner with us some nights.:rotfl: If you have any questions, ask away.

Ok since you offered, I have a question. How much time do the kids have in the clubs when you are only on a 4 day cruise. For example, day one they have from what 5 pm until whenever, but we still have the show and the dinner to attend, right? Day 2, we are going to atlantis for the day again 5 pm until whenever again dinner and show in there somewhere. Day 3 Castaway Cay, again 5 m until whenever again dinner ans show in there. The only real club day seems to be the last day at sea. Am I wrong?

You are correct, especially for first cruise and you have activities planned. I would expect the kids want to see every show and go to every restaurant. So, I would expect not much time in the club for your kids. I recall on our first cruises the kids spent much more time with us. Our DS5 spends more time with us than our DD9(DD10 in 9 days). Our last cruise was the 2007 transatlantic, included 5 sea days in a row and the kids were in the club alot. It was a long cruise, so they made friends that they enjoyed seeing in the clubs. My DD picks which activities she wants to attend by looking at the daily navigator each day and goes in and out of the club. She may only go for an hour or so, then we get her and she comes swimming with us. Or she may pick BINGO on the navigator and we pick her up from the club to win. :lmao: On our 3-day, DD wanted to be in club during our Nassua stop and we went into town without her. Both kids went to the club at Scuttle's Cove on Castaway Cay for an hour or so once, so DH & I could check out the adults only beach and have lunch there. They may only go for an hour or so while you get ready to dinner. Just be careful you don't try to pick up during transition times.
Some kids don't go to the clubs at all. It all depends on what your kids like. Hope this helps!!

Are any of the adult males going to be dressing up for pirate night? I have a very shy one that does not know if he wants to or not.

I am coming with my grandaughter who is 14. Any more teens out there, she can converse with??????

cshell here, what is a fe group? I am soooo new to this disney lingo.

The FE Group is the group of us who are joining the Fish Extender Exchange. We will be bringing small gifts to give to the other staterooms that are participating.

Hi Everyone! Today I was thinking that we are almost 6 weeks from our adventure. I am anxiously awaiting a vacation. Do you think we should start a list of FE participants and room numbers? IF so, maybe you can copy my post, paste into your post, and add your name and room number
