4/25/09 Magic - First Visit To Tortola!

On the DIS DCL FAQ page they have a cruise tip calculator website listed.

http://cruisetip.tpkeller.com/

All you do is enter how many adults and children then select Disney and it will display the suggested tip per day and a total.

Hope this helps.

Hi --- Hey CK -- it is a small world -- how many people go to Oshawa?? I actually spent a few months in Whitby before Oshawa. After Ontario I went to Vancouver -- loved it there. Toronto was one of my favorite cities. I want to take my husband there some day. My kids were all born in Canada (first husband was Canadian).

Rebecca - - I loved your pets -- that's so cool - their names are adorable. My kids had hamsters a lot when they were little as we rented and could not have other pets. I agree with the adoption. My three kitties are all adopted from Cat Angel Network and I had one that was rescued after it was "dumped" off in a friend's backyard.

I 3rd the motion to cut off the FE's on Friday. I hate to stop people who want to be a part of it but I'm starting to feel panicked and disorganized about the whole thing. I have 4 doctor and 3 dental appts at this point before I leave - - that's enough to keep me occupied - packing -- aacck - not even started. I'll do a dance when the wristbands arrive - that's my next concern. I kept them dark blue so the guys won't feel silly with a pastel color.

I was frazzled this morning and DH told me to "breathe" and then just said "17 days". I smiled :goodvibes. It's so cold here.

Sandy

Finally I join in the document dance.:banana: Received them from my TA today. Now I just have to get past my parents 50th anniversary party on the 18th.

so I went through the list and made a list of people that posted once or twice but haven't been on the boards. So I was wondering if the following people are lurking and if they are still going"

Roveer and sunburnin are definitely going. Roveer posts in the main DCL forum and I've been chatting with sunburnin off this thread. Not sure about anyone else.

Since I was a little late coming to this board. Has everyone discussed what they are doing for shore excursions. We actually decided to go with an independent company in tortola called white squall II. This is a sailboat that takes you to the Virgin Gorda Baths. In St Thomas we have been there before so probably going to go to the beach on our own.

What are the prices per person? We are sailors and have bare boated in Tortola before. I am up in the air about what to do there. Our kids have never been there before and I would love to take them to the Baths. DH says we will take them when we have the beach to ourselves, not with 100's of cruisers. I thought we might go to Trellis Bay and snorkel.:confused3
I have the same dilemma with St.Thomas. I love St. John and would love to show that Island to the kids, but I have never been to St. Thomas. DH is not a planner and wants to play it by ear, but I would like to have a plan. We were thinking Coral World and Coki Beach. DD is 10 and DS is 5.

We are looking into a island/beach tour in St. Thomas- Sunny Liston- anyone ever heard of this company- gets some great reviews!

We booked the catamaran beach and sail through disney for Tortola:thumbsup2

St. Thomas - St. John Island Tour & then going to beach on our own
Tortola - Tour to Virgin Gorda
CC - Sting Ray Adventure & Bike Rental

They charge 105 per person. Leave at 9a return at 4p. Includes lunch and unlimited drinks nonalcoholic and alcoholic. Go to the baths , snorkeling and to a private beach. I have included the website. We have in the past have done the $25 to the beach which lncluded a small tour of the island a stop for banana daquiri 2h hours at the beach(Coki Beach) and then return. We have used a cab driver name ray we are hoping we can find him. He is also a firefighter.

Have you had any experience with this tour group? I went to the web site and it looks nice. Sent them an email, maybe we will try it. We were just going to go to the beach on our own.

No but went to trip advisor and had great ratings and reviews rated number one for things to to in tortola..

This board is just moving so quickly now that we are getting closer to sailing. Woohoo!

Pets: We have 2 dogs. One is a mutt from the Human Society in San Diego. He's 10 yrs old and his name is Payton after the Chicago Bears Sweetness. He's a beast, but a total love. Our second dog is a Bernese Mountain Dog and her name is Zephyr. She's about 6 yrs old. We call her our supermodel. She is beautiful, just clueless. Both of our dogs are big dogs, but we wouldn't have it any other way.

In Tortola we are going to do the Baths on our own. In St. Thomas, we are actually going to head to St. John for some snorkeling. We have reserved a private sail boat to take us. Again, we did this on our own. At CC, we have nothing planned. Some beach time and if something interests us we'll do it.

Here I is! We can't wait to go! I post often in here, but we're not doing the FE so I don't chime in on those conversations. I'm the clown that likes to tell everyone how many days, hours, minutes, etc we have until we set sail. :thumbsup2

and wow.... this post just put us on 62 pages! Great work everyone! It's a fun active board for sure.

Can you believe we are about two weeks out? My answer to everyone at work is - I don't care, I'm going on vacation in two weeks. Nice attitude huh. LOL!

Ditto!

The nice thing at work is that spring break around here is this week and next week in NC and most of my northeast co-workers are off the week after that.... so its been a bit slower than normal. When we are on our cruise work will be back at full force and I won't be there. woo hoo!

Curious... for those with kids... is this the real spring break for anyone? It's 2 weeks after ours and I thought it was past most others.
