Cast of characters, me 40, DH 38, DS 6 1/2 and DS 2 1/2.
First Disney Cruise.
Day 4 Grand Cayman day. We try Topsiders for Breakfast for the first time. It is good, not great like being served in Lumieres, but faster anyway. I didn't like sitting inside, so we sat at one of the tables outside. We found later that the tables by the pool had more shade and nicer view.
We didn't plan an excursion, with two young children, we decide just to get a cab to the Turtle Farm and do a little shopping. This turned out to be more challenging than we thought. First the tender to the island will not leave until it is completely full. Being one of the first on board (around 10:00am) we didn't know this and almost burned to a crisp waiting. In hindsight, we should've gone down below in the shade, but I didn't see that at first. There is a CM named "Q" that is the host of 70's night and bingo, and also getting off and on at port. He didn't seem to understand our requests to start moving, everyone was really getting cranky! There was another boat waiting just behind us. Anyway, we get to Grand Cayman and most of the taxi's that approach you want to do a whole island tour and it cost a lot more than just to go to the turtle farm. We are advised to walk a few blocks into town and get a cab there. This works out fine, and we get a very nice driver who explained a lot on the way. The turtle farm is not to be missed if you have young children. We had a good time picking up the smaller turtles and taking our picture with them. they were selling a rum cake there called Blackbeards, I believe. If anyone knows how to order one, please let me know. I later bought the Tortuga brand and it didn't seem as good as the Blackbeard samples.
We drove by "Hell", didn't stop, had lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe. (Because of the view) Did a little shopping at Del Sol, for color changing items, but you can get these online too.
I called and left the message for Palo that I was hoping to get in that evening, and a few hours later they called to let me know that 6:30 was availabe! We dressed up, dropped the kids at their clubs and went on up, saying hello to Kristian as we went by.
We had the wine package, so we ordered a bottle. I did notice that the guests who had ordered the more expensive package were served in more special wine glasses. Oh, well...
Our server was Salvatore and he was wonderful. I really think they had our table bugged because when DH was thinking about getting the calamari, Salvatore suddenly showed up at our table with Calamari! I couldn't decide between the Seafood risotto and the Filet Mignon, Salvatore asked me what was my second choice, and brought both! How did he know I couldn't decide?
We both loved the Chocolate Souffle and ate every bit. I did like the Lava cake better, later in the week though.
After Palo we went to see the Hercules show, didn't care for it and left in the middle. We then hung out on deck 4 for awhile, then got the boys and went to the room. Everyone else went to sleep, I went to the movie theatre to see Calander Girls, which was cute, I liked the theatre too!
