4/24/2010 Med cruise: Friends, Romans, Countrymen lend me your Ears

Well we had a great start to the new year. My daughter woke up at 2am vomiting, my father-in-law developed a DVT and hubby worked all New Years Eve. The worst thing though is that the Sydney cricket test match is currently washed out...LOL!

Ugh sorry such a rough start to the New Year. Hope daughter and Father in law are ok.

The worst thing is...the cricket match washed out. What about the DVT ? Bedrest? Worried about endless hours on a plane (in 100+ days time)? Is this a recurring problem for him?

Hope you get some sleep after all this.

Yeah, formal on Disney is not formal on the QE2. There are no fashion police on board. You show up, they feed you.

Happy New Years!

Lynne

Belinda,

Hope everyone is feeling better. Not a great way to start off the New Year.

You'll have to explain cricket on one of the sea days, because I don't have a clue how it works.

Julie

Thanks for all the kinds words. Father-in-law is ok. He was sent home with twice daily injections of anti-coagulants. He has lupus anticoagulant and has a DVT before. He is seeing the haematologist today. My parents are coming not my in-laws so its ok!

DD bounced back very quickly, thank goodness! Her humungous appetite is back and all is well.

Julie, I think cricket is one of those games that I think the English created to be intentionally complicated. It is not intuitive and is long and to be honest, quite boring, if you don't know what is going on. It took me a long time to appreciate the game. Come look for us onboard and hubby will happily take the time to explain the sport that is cricket. He and his family are huge fans. He was waitlisted as a child to become a member of Sydney Cricket Ground, finally became a member a few years ago. I personally couldn't care less!

Well, the rain has gone which means we are going to the cricket today! Have a good day everyone!

Lynne thanks for the link. Looks exciting!

Julie, you'll have to tell me which treasures you need on treasure madness so I can send you appropriate gifts rather than random junk...

Fingers crossed for Pixie Dust. Come on Disney CSM, you can do it!!!

I will explain more later..don't want to jinx myself!

Lara, how was your New Year's Eve celebrations? Did you manage to get down to the Harbour for the fireworks?

And I will resist temptation to ask about the pixie dust and exercise some patience...

I think Lara has requested the Walt Disney Suite and she is awaiting confirmation. (if we're making guesses)

The poll is going to be a tie - if you voted, let me know so we can see about a decision.

I think this cruise is so port intensive that the need for DISboard activities is lower.

Are we in for lanyards?

FYI: There are 58 of us on the list.

Getting the Walt Disney Suite with a Gty 12...can you do that? I am just trying to get the $100 per person on board credit. I don't have confirmation yet but it does sound promising, a manager was working with IT! They had me stop holding after half an hour, so I have my fingers crossed that when I call and check tomorrow it will be done, and I don't have to start the process again.

New Years Eve was fantastic, we had been invited to a friends apartment right off the Waverton train station. We had a great view, of the bridge and fireworks (could have been a bit better, if:cool1: we could sneak over to the neighbors and take the tops off the palm trees). Great company, no crowds, and made it on the 12:20 train, so we missed any craziness there!

We got confirmation today that we are definately moving back to the USA as of October 1st. So we are happy that we gave up a little family time for a once in a life experience!

I will let you know tomorrow if the pixie dust came through!

I could probably research this, but all of you seem to be experts! Will we know our dining rotation at the 75 day out mark? That is the day that we can book Pablo's!

Which restaurant do you prefer to replace Pablo's with? Isn't it normally Parrot Cay?

No you will not know your dining rotation till you check in at the port. you can request a rotation but you won't know till check in.

The restaurant is Palo not Pablo but sounds cute. =)

You will only have the menu for a specific restaurant once on the cruise. The other nights that you dine in the specific restaurants you will have the menu of the day. It is hard on these longer cruises, especially being the first ones of the summer to know what to predict on what night.

I could say it was a typing error..but it wasn't! I had only looked at info about it a hundred times:laughing:

Pablo's is a special temporary name for this year's Med cruises, in honor of Picasso. :goodvibes

By DCL or the DIS boards? Pablo's sounds more like a mexican restaurant then anything to me. Maybe I just live too close to the border here in SoCal

JK! JK! by me. :lmao:

Just how sick are you? Are you taking funny meds?

Barcelona - Spain - Pablo Picasso ?!

If you both are out there, either of you have any preference which way to go with the logo - only 3 people have voted (not me, yet). If it's going to be people with kids chosing, I'd rather they get what they'd like.

I'd go with some variation on the "Friends, Romans, Country, Lend Me Your Ears..." because I like the tie in with both Italy and Mickey's ears.

I know Belinda and others are fond of Aladdin because of Tunisia, but I think of him more as Middle Eastern - okay, so Persian.

I will show the guys the options tonight, and let you know. I kind of like Huey, Dewey, and Louie, but then I have a 6 old little boy, that they remind me of!
