Sorry I missed the vote. I've been working on my blog a little, trying to do photo slideshows of past Disney trips and our two trips to China. Hopefully I'll be doing more soon.

Happy Goofy, that's helpful and interesting info. I find it quite amazing that they expect people to book not knowing how many will be on the bus and hence not knowing the full price! I was wondering how much DCl was going to charge for their private cars.And you're right, it is expensive. Just a reference, Romeinlimo charges Euro 1400 for a private tour for 15 people and this includes a private tour of the vatican. It think that's about US$2100. I suppose though if you go with DCL, you'll have peace of mind that the ship will wait for you.

Rob, were you keeping the FE list? So what do you all think, should we just scrap the whole FE idea?

We have never done a Disney cruise, and I think FE sounds fun, but I think with all of the traveling we are doing beforehand and baggage requirements, that I would like off the list.

As port intensive as this cruise is (and the airline charges to carry everything), I know I won't be participating in FEs.

I think I agree with Lynne and Julie -- I will be passing on FEs this time around as well. I think that the logistics (baggage restrictions, etc) are just a little more than I can handle

I can't believe we're at the 105 day mark already! I can't book anything until 1/24 - but for those booking tonight -- good luck - hope you get everything you want!!

Thanks for all your replies! It makes my decision easier. No FEs for us as well.

As for meeting up on the first day, I think Lynne's suggestion sounds good. 3pm I think she said just before the muster drill. But I can't remember where. I'm happy to meet up whereever the experienced DCl cruisers tell me to go!

Just wanted to give a little helpful info to anyone interested. We spent two weeks in Naples last summer and in our honest opinion, it is just a big dirty city. Head over to Sorrento along the Amalfi coast or Capri (breathtaking). Also I absolutely loved Pompeii. You can take a train for a very cheap price from Naples to Sorrento and Pompeii. We really enjoyed traveling by train. Also you can take a ferry ride right from the port to Sorrento or Capri.

Okay, is the archeology museum in Naples worth the visit? I've read it was nice, I think in Rick Steves?

Amazing. I got brunch, tea and dinner at Palo within 8 minutes. I've never been able to do that before.

Hopefully everyone else booking was successful, and it will hold out for everyone at 90 and 60 days.

Skoi, The Naples museum is really nice. It has awesome artifacts. If you would like to stay in the Naples area then that is a great choice. It is just that the actual city of Naples is not worth wasting your time. Also I will mention seeing the Caserta palace (you can google it). It has beautifully landscaped gardens. April would be a really great time to visit there. We went in July and it was soooo hot.

If you do not think that you are going to be in the Naples area again, then I would consider seeing Pompeii, the Amalfi coast (Sorrento area), or Capri. We will possibly visit Capri this trip because the last time we went there my DD got sick and we had to head back to Naples after 2 hours. If we had went there at the beginning of our trip, we would have stayed a few days. In all of my travels I think that Capri has the most breathtaking views that I have ever seen.

As far as driving goes, if you are driving on countryroads or highways that is a possibility, but I would NEVER, EVER drive in a major Italian city and I live in Europe. The train is a very easy and cheap form of transportation that takes you everywhere. If you want to go to Pompeii or Sorrento you can take the train. You can get a taxi from the port to the train station for around 20 euro (for the whole taxi, not per person). Make sure that you confirm the price with the driver before leaving. Boy, I could tell you some stories. You can get to Sorrento, Positano and Capri right from the port by hydrofoil. You can take the ferry also but the hydrofoil is much faster. It is around 17 euro to Capri and a little less to the Amalfi coast. (If you are prone to sea sickness make sure you take your meds).

I do not want to discourage anyone from their plans. I am just trying to give a little helpful info and a few options. Some of the excursions are so expensive and you can see the same things or more on your own for a fraction of the cost. If you have any tips or advice please make sure to share. Also we would consider sharing a tour with other cruisers depending on the port and the cost.

We're unsure. I would never actually drive in Naples. We'd have to get a private tour sort of thing, but they're expensive. I need to do some more research.

I've seen pictures down the Amalfi coast and it's beautiful.
