4/14/2012 7-Nights Western Caribbean on the Fantasy

I just looked on DCL website & added "air transportation".....$526/person from Boston & $581/person from Providence!!!:scared1::scared1::eek::eek:Think I'll take my chances & stalk the airlines for best price!!

That $526 includes your $70 round trip transfers. It still is a $456 plane ticket. I think you can stalk the airlines and see how the prices are running and always decide to purchase from DCL if that is a better deal. The cruise line also has a limited number of seats/fares from certain departure cities and they can sell out. Boston always seems to be one of the departure cities that sells out.
The last time we went (feb 09) my BIL reserved airfare through DCL (with the travel agent) but was not committed until the final payment. He had the option to purchase on his own if he found a better deal...which he didn't.

Oh.....hmmmm, $456 sounds reasonable considering I've been pricing out airfare for this April vaca wk & it's $250+ each way!!! now I am thinking I should maybe book it & if a better deal comes out I'll cancel.:confused3

Ouch!! I was going to look at it, so I didn;t have to pay transfer fees. we fly out of manchester (preferably) but i'm sure it'd be similar.

in the past we have rented a car and driven to port, but at that point we had one in a booster seat (just the part you sit on no back) this time we'll have one in that and one in regular car seat. hate having to lug the seats..but then again feel safer w/them in them for the drive.

that's exactly why I would like to book with DCL. Save on the stress and aggravation of trying to search all the airlines for the best fare! time is money and it takes a long time to search every day......:surfweb:

My aunt just told me she has a friend cruising on April vaca wk this year & the prices were so high, they're renting a minivan & driving to Charlotte NC & flying from there for $89. 13 hour car ride....but if it saves me $1,000....it may become an option:confused3

:scared1::scared1::eek::eek: yikes! i don't want it to come to that! that is why you need to book airfare early. As soon as the fares are published, you need to check them out and keep looking every day, multiple times per day. This is what I did for our Feb vacation cruise. It was painful. I am considering talking to a travel agent to see if they can watch the fares and book for me when the price drops below a certain point.
and BTW, I drove home from the Outer Banks this past summer...16 1/2 hrs. and we only hit traffic in NYC.

Ugh!!!:sad2: Over a year away & I'm already stressing!!:lmao: Even w/DCL that's over $2,000 in airfare for the 4 of us!!:scared1: That is just insane!

Talk about going crazy-- My family + my parents went on the Transatlantic Cruise in April. I had to find the best airfare on our one-way tickets home from Barcelona! Disney wanted almost 3X what I ended up booking the 2 one-way tickes for (JFK- MCO & then Barcelona to JFK)!!! Their price was insane!

I ended up doing that one year just to MCO from Boston & back. Instead of R/T I did one way searches & got it MUCH cheaper. Well at least there is enough of us that we can keep each other informed on the "deals" if we find them. I know I'll be stalking the airlines as soon as the prices come out!!;)

yes, I too have done the one-way bookings on different airlines because it was cheaper and the times were more convenient. My DH thought we would be targeted as terrorists booking one way tickets:rotfl2:

Too funny... I JUST said the same thing to my husband last night! I am in the process of booking airfare for our "back-2 back" Dream cruises in June/ July. There are 4 of us traveling on 3 different itineraries! Cruise #1 is me, ds & Mom... then Mom goes home & Dh joins us for cruise #2 before heading to WDW for a week at Bay Lake Towers! I booked 1-way flights for all of us-- Worked out cheaper than ANY R/T itineraries I was offered. Talk about looking suspicious... 4 people & 8 1-way flights! :lmao:

yeah, the whole airfare thing really gets me mad!! It will not cost them any more money to fly that week vs. any other week yet they can justify jacking the price up to $600 for a R/T ticket.:scared1: I mean really?? I can see making prices a little more expensive, but doubling and, in some cases, tripling airfare prices is just wrong!:confused3

Good Morning everyone. I see we have a strong MA contingent. We have decided that we will be driving instead of flying. I know we are much closer than MA but airfare is still crazy for the three of us. To get a cheaper flight, we would need to drive north to Philadelphia and then fly to MCO. :headache: We have driven the past two times and the drive is about 14 hours for us so really not that bad. I hope all of you find some good deals when it is time to book your flights.

:lmao: between my aunt & I we're already planning "worse case scenario" of just how far we'll have to drive to get to a place w/ reasonable airfare:confused:. Both of our DH's are saying that there is no way they are driving 6 hours or more to catch a flight.....:lmao:We may have to just load them up in the car & let them figure it out for themselves as we drive to our destination.;)

I am all for convenience, so I will not drive there nor to another airport. I am 12 miles from Logan airport, so I need to search, search, search....then bite the bullet. I am hoping to get airfare for under $400pp:lmao: am I dreaming?? It could be possible, if I book early.:rolleyes1

It helps if you pull the kids out of school a few days early the flight down will be less!

Their is nothing you can do for the flight back but pay the piper!

Are you on the North or South Shore, we are on the South.:thumbsup2

We are from MA also and we are driving down. It is a long ride, we drove down this past summer and had a great time. Airfare is crazy these days.:yay:
